[ My Multi-screen MADNESS!! ]
This is probably the only worthwhile post I would ever make in this thread at this point, hehe. Pretty thrilled about obtaining this! I just beat it last night and had a hell of a blast with it! Sunsoft ROCKS!!
As for having Tails there, it is just for amusement, and technically, he's an import too.

Haha, ain't that the truth.
Sometime in the mid 2000s or so, I watched one of those Game Paradise DVD video magazines. Each disc usually has a story or two about retro stuff. There was a little story about a big famicom collector in Japan. The crew visited him in his apartment. He had the obligatory mountains of famicom stuff. When they asked him what was one of the top rarest carts, he said Battle Formula. Now of course that doesn't count against those "special occasion/event" gold carts and similar... but it doesn't sound too far off to me in terms of normal releases.
A couple of years ago, it wasn't weird to see a loose battle formula go for about 20,000 yen and a cib to be around 30k to 40k yen (depending on condition). I think it's settled down a bit since then, but it's still up there. Not too long ago, a buddy of mine lucked out on a cheap lot of famicom carts.... one of the misc carts in the pile was battle formula! Lucky score for him.
I really dig the cover art though. It's got that bygone era style of anime on it. On a side note, I'd also like to get the ps1 sunsoft memorial version eventually too.

Magical Puzzle Popils (image linked to because it's large in size/webcam)
This guy made its way into my collection as part of a huge Game Gear lot from eBay. It's the only import in the lot, but definitely a game I've wanted to own for a little while. It's a puzzle game from the creator of Bubble Bobble exclusive to the game gear (and easily the best puzzle game on the game gear) where you play a young prince that has to make his way to a princess in each of the 100 levels. There's actually a save battery in the thing (a rarity for GG games, let alone a GG puzzle game), a resume feature that'll automatically put you on the last level you were playing when you boot up the cart (if you choose to enable it) and a level editor that lets you create and save up to 30 different custom levels.
There was a domestic release, but it's ridiculously hard to come by, so an import works just fine for me.
I'd definitely recommend picking up a copy to anyone with even the slightest interest in the game gear; it's not an expensive cart (then again, 99% of the GG library is inexpensive) and it'll last a good while.
I remember that video too, though didn't they ask him what was his favourite, and not what is one of his rares? Could've sworn he chose Battle Formula as one of his favourites but still was unable to finish the game haha. That segment gave me extra motivation to win. I spent about 45 minutes clearing the first 5 stages, then over 2 hrs just on the final stage alone. I think I was failing more than I should have been but I didn't give up and I got a good grasp on the very end. The ending is OK I suppose, but nothing stellar. I noticed a lot of familiar names in the credits as seen in Raf World. Good to see "Hebereke" helped make the game.
My Christmas gift this year:
The only game for the month and it being a xmas gift from family.
Nothing major this time, just a few loose, inexpensive Famicom games.
