    Default 1989 Sega Genesis Altered Beast Package (Sans controller and RFU)

    Here I have a original run, non-chipped Sega Genesis.



    I did use this some years ago and it worked then; of course that's then, not now. But when I used it I stuck a Budokan cart in it which worked; It did not work on later systems that I had at the time.

    Finally, to show it's a non-chipped Genesis:



    So, what would you say it's worth - that is, with and without the RFU and controller? I'm thinking of getting those and I'm sure the value would go up if I did that. I know these original run models came with controllers that had red lettered buttons so I may have to get one of those. I haven't actually tested the system on a TV since I don't yet have something to test it with. It does turn on at least.

    *UPDATE* I did get a controller and RFU. The system turns on and plays, the first controller port works, the Channel 3/4 switch works and so does the volume slider. I haven't tested the Sega CD bay or the other A/V out plug though. Also, The controller (A mega-fire type with the red buttons) does work but the C button must be pressed hard to work. The controller casing looks to be in good shape though.

    That's a weird one, many have sold on ebay for well over $100, in fairly good condition. Yet some have sold for much less in the same condition. Yours is pretty rough, idk maybe $40?

    Thanks. If it works and I'm sure of it and I included a controller with it, I'm guessing it would be worth more; Maybe $60-$70?

    Good memories. I remember buying this exact set when I was in high school. Think it set me back $250 then. Wish I still had it.

    I was going just based on the condition of the box. You may well get $60-70 though.

    I got an RFU and controller, though the controller's C button must be pressed hard to work. I may return it. The system does work though I haven't tested the other video/audio out plug or the second controller port or the Sega CD expansion bay.

    And thanks, yes a manual for Altered Beast would help in the sale.
