Question In the event this place goes down (permanently) soon, where can we found you all?

The management seems to have stepped out, so if this place goes down soon what forums, blogs, youtube channels, etc. can you guys be found at?

For all the years I've been here there are only a few personalities I can pick out of the crowd, but I actually really like reading what those few people say and viewing what some, like those with youtube channels, have created. I don't do other forums (besides a few facebook groups) anymore, but if this one is inaccessible I'll probably look for another retro gaming one. I generally go by the handle Emperor Megas (or EmperorMegas if the format doesn't allow spaces), and use this Megas avatar.

I'm not trying to be negative or herald an exodus from this forum, which I still really love, I'm just planning for the worst and would like to know where I can find a few familiar personalities online.

So then, where might we find some of you IF this place disappears soon?

I am not on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, or any other forums of any kind. Be happy to PM you e-mail/contact info sometime if you want, Emperor. Hell, I might just be your imaginary friend who plays your shit while you sleep.

I've been kinda thinking about if I should join a new forum if this place goes down too. I'm on Hardcore Gaming 101, random GameFAQs boards (because I'm dumb), PCEngineFX once in a blue moon when I'm in an NEC mode, other random forums that I view/post at with even less frequency. I do feel like if this place was gone, I'd miss interacting with people knowledgeable and experienced with collecting and playing all kinds of different retro games. Other places I visit don't quite get the collector mentality and/or are more modern-focused, or they're fixated on one particular system/company/era. That's why I've always been hesitant to join places like AtariAge, NintendoAge, etc. I don't have great interest in pre-crash gaming, and I care about a lot more than just NES/Nintendo. I've always appreciated how Digital Press embraces all systems and games equally.

It'll be a sad day if this place ever goes. But honestly its been a shadow of its former self for years now.

This was the first forum i ever joined and it still feels like home. I have 3 children and work some crazy hours now, so the last few years i haven't been as active as i once was, but I still pop in here and there.

I can also be found on Sega-16, Atari Age and the Retro Gamer magazine forums as "Silence the Fallen".

This is the first forum I ever joined as well. It got me through med school, actually, and I've learned so much on here. I'm pretty active over at neo-geo.com. I'm Psygnosis8 over there.

I always wondered what happened to the regulars I always ran into prior to the mass exodus whenever the rec.games.video heirchy died when Usenet gave its last dying gasp. Rec.games.video.sega and alt.sega.genesis were the main groups I followed. ASG was a small, close-knit group of people who were either players or actively collecting Genesis stuff at a time that no one gave a shit. That, and the occasional lost Phil Collins fan who had no idea what Usenet was.

RGVS pretty much died immediately after the Dreamcast. Since there were no "new" Sega games coming out it eventually turned into a crossposting ghost town. (Which as a side note is something that young 'uns of today have totally missed out on. Even the OP trolls couldn't hold a candle to the dumbasses hitting "reply all" so their opinions were cast out onto two dozen diametrically opposite and unrelated groups. When you can fire one simple trollbait post across a Nintendo group, a Pro Wrestling fangroup, a kiddie porn ring, a militant Islamic group, and some random places like alt.suicide.methods, the fun never stops). Belpowerslave and Sheath are probably the only guys I see around that still use their same nicknames.

And if you were a rec.games.video.* user during that time; Buy Rite Video Games.

There were always a bunch of people that posted in RGVS and ASG that I didn't know on a personal level but always wondered where they migrated to. Digital Press seemed like the closest thing to those type of discussions I could find which is why I ended up here.

In case this great place would go down (and I truly hope it won't!), I have my games listed on RFGeneration (same user name - lendelin - link is below). I never posted there and I don't visit them regularly, but they have very interesting threads and discussions. I'll post there if the worst happens.

DP was and is my only gaming website. I was very active from 2003 to 2008, also wrote for some time for the DP fanzine, then I left the country for a couple of years and didn't login in anymore. When I came back last year I noticed a heavy decrease in traffic and posts. I got so far only a couple of minor tidbit informations in various threads what happened while I was gone but it is still unclear to me. I even read that the site was supposedly completely down for a couple of months.

I hope so much that someone will keep this site alive and well.

InsaneDavid at most places - twitter, youtube, KLOV forums and the like.

Currently helming the third incarnation of Retrogaming Times / Retrogaming Times Monthly as "The Retrogaming Times" - http://www.classicplastic.net/trt - come write with us! Come December I'm going to have an old DP "12 Days of Xmas" type thing on The Retrogaming Times Facebook community.

It's been a hell of a ride here guys and gals. I sincerely mean that. May your Jolt Cola always be frosty, may your JVC X'Eye always register that the door is closed, and may that sentient Dreamcast controller finally let me go!
