I predict that the redesign is still going to look off. Judging by everything else wrong with the trailer, I cant see them having the competence to do it right

It's like they watched the original Super Mario Bros movie from 1993 and thought they could do the same with Sonic. Strangely I could see Bob Hoskins making a better Robotnik than Jim Carrey, of course he's dead now so he can't.
If I had to make any predictions I would guess that we'll learn in this movie that Sonic's full name is actually Sonic Sonic.
Lol..
He may have outgrown it, since now he's into Fortnite, but my 9-year-old nephew was crazy about Sonic. The Sonic IP is still pretty active even in recent years, like with the Sonic Boom cartoon that ran from 2014 to 2017, so kids these days are familiar with Sonic.
Edit: And on that note, I'm moving this topic to Modern Gaming. It's okay to discuss game-related media (movies, comics, whatever) in the Classic and Modern Gaming sections.

Sonic Boom started in 2014? I thought this was a current show, I didn't know it already finished a few years ago. I guess I haven't been keeping up with what's new on TV lately.
There's another thread on the Sonic movie already, shouldn't they be combined?

Sure, they've now been merged.
The Sonic The Hedgehog CGI movie has been delayed to 2020 now - Valentine's Day 2020 - to make time to rework and re-implement the new 3D Sonic. I guess that it is good that they are "fixing" its appearance, but seriously movie-guys, you should have just let the movie drop in November as it is going to be a lame movie regardless of how Sonic looks. Changing the appearances of the emoji in the Emoji movie would not have changed that movie from a stinker to a cinematic masterwork.
Nothing says "I love you" like subjecting your partner to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie on Valentine's Day.
I just saw trailer #2. its an improvement but still... just looks off in my opinion. it seems like they cant get the eyes right. the humor isnt something im used to and doesnt seem like the Sonic from the late 90s and early 2000s that im accustomed to but hey its aimed at kids, not people like me in their 30s who worshipped the games as a child and thought he was always a "cooler" alternative to Mario.
Jim Carrey is great in this natural comedic role. I really wish he would get back to doing more physical and goofball comedy
I saw the new trailer and I was giggling throughout. I see it as a "Howard the Duck" approach: how would an anthropomorphic sentient blue hedgehog look? I never saw the original trailer but what they have works for me.
And yes I'd subject my wife to it. I took her to see "Downton Abbey" on date and I'm not a big fan of it....
Sonic definitely looks more like he should, but the movie itself still looks bad to me. It's kinda disappointing in a way. If they stuck with the original design, the movie could've been spectacularly bad, but now I suspect it's just gonna be blandly bad.
