Looks good, might get it and Star Ocean: Divine Force on the steam summer sale.

I just finished the third and final act of Clair Obscure. I've spent the last two days doing alot of grinding in order to up my stats to play the games side content. It's for that reason that I won't replay the game, which is what I do sometimes if I really, really like a game. I'm just not that into grinding and I figured that if I start a game+, I'd probably have to do even more. I freely admit that grinding indicates my poor skills more than any problem with the game.
Clair Obscure was the first time I ever played what I always described as a slap fight style of game, where turns are taken. I know that turns are taken playing chess or checkers, but in those games, if you play badly, a girl in your party will not leap in the air and sprinkle fairy dust to save you.
Since I don't know shit about turn based RPG's, I won't discuss the game's mechanics with any context. But I will say that I did enjoy the game. It's visually stunning and offers strange new worlds to explore with interesting characters and enemies. The voice acting in the game is quite good and makes a difference. I never realized how much party member selection and the development of complimentary attack style synergies mattered in these games and was impressed by it.
I must warn others that Clair Obscure relies heavily on QTE's and personally I hate QTE's! I guess the developers wanted you to take a more active role in the game than just making menu choices. Thankfully, you can change the game setting to automate QTE's on offense, so you just have to learn to parry and dodge with QTE's on defense.
Clair Obscure was made by a French team and the games setting occurs in an alternate universe France sort of, I guess. The game is very European and the characters are always filthy looking even though there is plenty of water around to bath in. They just.... like being dirty I guess. You know in Europe they just spritz a little water on thier filthy parts and call it clean enough! That's why European women have enough body hair to attract Orangutan suitors. Cause when you smell just clean enough, who cares what you look like.
I personaly appreciated the game for not being woke, no LGBTQ+ stuff, and no diversity, equity or inclusion indoctrination. I saw people of color occasionaly in the game, shop keepers mostly.
Just trying a little humor, don't nobody get upset.![]()
