Im working on collecting all the shooters for Turbo Grafx 16, I have 8 right now w/ aprox 8 more to go.
I was thinking of starting to collect Dreamcast games, but are there any shooters for it? What were the better games for this consol?
Thanks

I'm not sure if you could count Capcom's Cannon Spike or not. It's a shooter, but in the overhead, character-based style of Commando and Pocky and Rocky (and Cartel Wars).
By the way, I recently had the chance try out Zero Gunner 2, thanks to a "Mr. Bargora." I rather like the game's unique play, which allows you to reorient your ship by rotating it around an axis. A fun shooter, and fairly cheap, as imports go.
Kidfenris.com: Never Updated.
Bangai-oh is a shooter, and a very uniquely bizarre one at that.

Try Rainbow Cotton... better yet, don't try it. While I've heard that it has an excellent anime intro, the game's controls are total ass. Also, there are some missions in Toy Commander that get real shmuppy. Other than that, I think we've pretty much covered all of them.

That's one thing that really disappointed me about the DC... so few shooters! I've got almost all of the Saturn shooters, and I play them all the time... Batsugun was in last night's entertainment. The Saturn has such a HUGE library of true 2-D shooters, and I had hoped that the DC would be the same. Unfortunately, it seems that the genre isn't as popular as it used to be. The Saturn was very successful in Japan for awhile and had a longer lifespan (over 700 games) so it would stand to reason that it would have a larger share of shooters. These have been mentioned, and i'll say them again... these are my kind of shooters!

Gigawing 2
Border Down
Ikugara
Gunbird 2
Mars Matrix
If you like "Contra" style shooters, you may also want to try "Expendable"
Anyone know any good places to get "Border Down" from, and what do you need to get it to play on a US Dreamcast?
Also, if you really like shooters, I would recommend getting a PC Engine (there are at least 2-3 times more shooters on it than the TG16), Saturn, SNES and Genesis. There are far more shooters on those consoles than the Dreamcast.
Can i play PC Engine games with an aftermarket card on my US TG16, or do I need a PCE?
Also is there any Saturn Shooter Resource?
I ordered Border Down from NCSX.com. Seemed really reliable.
All you need to get it to run on your dreamcast would be a boot disc. Unless you've got a modded dreamcast or one of those all-region ones.
As for the PC-engine..why not just get a convertor for his TG-16? That'd be cheaper.

There are two converters or adapters. One is called the "Kisado" adapter, i beleive, or "spring board" adapter because it looks like a spring board. You can take a look at it here: http://www.pcenginefx.com/TS/system_...verter__2.htmlOriginally Posted by Fuel Injected
I don't know what the other one is called, but here it is:

You can usually find them on ebay. I don't think they are made anymore. The problem you'll have is most of them go for $75-$100. For that money (or even less) you can get a pc-engine (or core grafx) with an extra controller and maybe a game or two. The only problem with pc engines is finding one in North America so you dont have to pa around $50 shipping from Japan or Europe.
Psyvariar 2 just got announced for DC. Released at the end of February.
Wasn't Starlancer a shooter, but in the more "Starfox" kind of vein? I don't remember, I only played it once.
Do Robotron 2084 and Defender I and II on the Midway's Greatest Hits Vol. 1 disc count as Dreamcast shooters?
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
More in the Wing Commander vein, especially since it was designed by the guy who guy who came up with Wing Commander in the first place.Originally Posted by WiseSalesman
