Ok, It's Model No. M37R. It still has the MSRP sticker on it for 175.00 (the yellow round sticker you see below). It was originally shipped to a store in Texas back in 1990, according to the packing information, then returned to Nintendo soon after.
If you look at the pictures of the logo, it almost has a thermometer effect. You can only see the red when you're looking at it head on. looking at it from an angle shows that it's almost clear. The net effect is that when you turn it on, it looks like neon, and in all likelihood fooled anybody who did not have a chance to closely examine the sign.
Another look at the label shows that they are in fact flourescent lamps. Something given away only when you first turn it on, since it flickers for a second as flourescent lamps will. Also, don't mind the dirt, it's in mint condition, and the black mirrored surface and the flash highlighted specs of dust on it. It's in perfect condition with no scratches or blemishes on the front or back.
By the way, Leonk, the third picture is of the back of the unit. The other side has the 'neon' look to it, but the back has the racing logo printed on to a black matted metal plate.
