Default Ninja Gaiden (SMS) - DP collector's Guide Question

I read in a new guide for Ninja Gaiden (XBox) that a Ninja Gaiden was released for the Sega Master System in 1992. (great looking according to the screen shots)

The game is not listed as a US release in the DP Collector's guide (7th ed.) Was this game one of the many which saw a Europe or Australia release only, or was it released in the US?

It was a PAL format release only, so it was never officially released in America. It works fine on an NTSC (American) Master system console though, and copies of the game pop up on eBay sometimes, although you'd probably have better luck if you check the UK eBay (www.ebay.co.uk).

If you enjoy the NES Ninja Gaiden games, then you'll probably like this one. The story line is very weak compared to the NES titles, and there are a few gameplay differences, but I think it's worthy of an import.
