I think there are only a few games that are still fun today for this little system.
the 3 Zeldas
Mortal Kombat 2
The 5 Mega Mans

Infinite Lives
Mario's Picross
Super Mario Land
Kirby's Block Ball
There's a few for starters.
Penguin Wars (I love it still)
Give me both versions of Tetris. Sure, Tetris DX has more modes, color, and saveable high scores, but the original has the music. And it's much harder.
How about Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle? That had some terrific music.

Great GB Games:
Tetris ( Need I say more?)
Super Mario Land ("Look Out Mario, There's a Fire-Breathing Cat!" That Never seems to get old!)
Zelda: Link's Awakening (Sane as Tetris)
Castlevania Adventure (Holy power to Slay Vampires, Ability to Sink Like a Rock in Water!)
Kirby's Dream Land ( <(00<) <(00)> (>00)> Kirby's Doing the Happy Dance!
Kirby's Dream Land 2 (Same as Kirby's Dream Land)
Mickey Mouse Magic Wands (i wish my copy had not died!)
Mortal Kombat? I have to disagree.
I find 99% of fightesr on the origional horible.
I'd also like to add one that no one has: Alleyway!
Echoing others' sentiments:
Mario's Picross
Alleyway
Qix
Tetris
Great Greed. I just replayed it, and enjoyed it just as much as back in the day. Rare as hell though.
The original Kirby's Dreamland still seems pretty cool, but hasn't SML1 aged pretty terribly? Warioland 1 and 2 were far superior products.
Final Fantasy Legend II is also pretty nifty, but it's a shame they can't go back and redo the music with better "instruments".
"Tetris", my favorite game of all time, is solid gold. This remains, to this day, my favorite version of Tetris, and thus my favorite single game.
"Operation C", the GameBoy's Contra game, is also really, really great.
I totally agree! Tetris and Operation C! I have them more on my Demo Boy unit than any other games! Super Mario Land 1 is also awesome still. I also love Spider-man 2. Spider-man 1 and 3 weren't nearly as good. The Game Boy Color Spidey's are very good as well, although they aren't original GB games
SML aged about as well as the first SMB, I think. The visuals are dated and the gameplay is kinda rough, but the game is still pretty damn fun.

Bionic Commando. Just awesome.
And I thought I was the only person in the world who'd ever heard of that awesome game. I really gotta get around to finishing it.Great Greed. I just replayed it, and enjoyed it just as much as back in the day. Rare as hell though.
