Default Instructions for the Game Gear battery pack?

I bought two of these, but thought neither worked.

I think I figured it out, sorta.

When you are charging it, you plug it in with the Sega MK-2301 or whatever adaptor. When charging it, you leave the switch to ON and not OFF, and to hook it up to your GG and use you, you turn it OFF. This seems ass-backwards to me. If you turn it ON while using with the GG, it turns off.

How long do you charge these? and how long do the charges last for?

    Also...

When it is charged but you are not using it, do you switch the switch to ON or OFF when you are not using it?

You know I thought it was ass backwards when I was a kid. But yeah plug it in to the wall, set it to on and when the light comes on you're charged.

I don't remember if you have to turn it off when you play the GameGear but you might... obvivously some trial and error would tell you if you had to or not.

Edit: Charges last for about 4 hours I think. When I was a kid every weekend we'd drive 4 hours to our vaction house near orlando, the Gamegear seemed to stay charge just long enough for us to get there.

How long does it take to charge? I want to say half an hour but I don't really remember. I just set mine to charge now so I guess I'll know the answer before too long.

Thanks. The light comes on for me in about a minute, though the charge lasts for about 5 minutes after charging it with the light on for about a half hour. ???

Does it work at all after you charge it? My two work for around 5 minutes before dropping dead, though I haven't tried charging them for a long time.

No I left it pluged in all night, no light, and when I tested it this morning it couldn't power the Game Gear at all. The AC adaptor still works though so it has to be the pack that's broken.

Also I was sleepy last night, it takes much longer then half an hour to power the pack. I think I was just used to my SP when I though that.

Did you have it set to OFF? I noticed it DID charge when set to ON. I am going to plug it in now and see in a few hours how long it will last.

    lol

No nevermind. I did have it of ON... heh.

When I flip from off the on the light flickers, and if I turn the battery pack over it my hand it will occasionly trigger the light on for a brief moment. Also if I play the system plauged into the battery pack while it's charging and move the pack it'll restart my game. I know it's not suppose to do that.

    lol

Yes I had it set to off, it's on on now so hopefully that will make a difference. :P

Geez... I feel stupid I've been using the battery pack for over 10 years now and I still can't work it properly.
It makes no sense. My initial questions are still there, for anyone who knows to reply. Like 'when not in use..' what do you set the switch to, on or off? Don't want to drain the battery when it's not being used. Why couldn't Sega keep it simple like the GAME BOY battery pack? Even said on the back, the charge time. No switches.

When I first start charging it, if it is OFF and I click it to ON, the orange light 'flickers' for a very brief second if that, and goes out. Then in a few seconds, it goes solid orange and stays that way. Last night I realized I could play it with the thing plugged into the outlet. It didn't turn off on me, so perhaps this is still good. I will charge this set to ON overnight and see how it works tomorrow.
