Typical of Sony to do this...this gives me a fair warning to wait until the 2nd or 3rd run of these systems arrives.
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Here's an idea:
Return the defective one and replace it with one that works.
<-- is brilliant!
Even if this is a widespread problem (which it hasn't widely been reported to be, btw), as a manufacturing problem it can be corrected. As opposed to the design problems of the DS.
Agreed, though I think that they're asking for trouble with a system so demanding of high tolerances - that, or people who drop their systems are asking for it, not quite sure there :P
I've seen a link posted to some site claiming many defective units were shipped - we'll see. It wasn't a reputable or well known site, for sure.
If the system is solid, this could well be my next handheld (after a NGPC, that is!). Again...waiting to see.
Uh, didn't DS have defect reports, too? It's utterly common for all new hardware. Sucks, but there hasn't been a hitch free launch of an electronic item EVER.
Videos of the psp disc flying out:

Is it wrong that I laughed my ass off watching those videos?
EDIT: Reading more into the article that the first post linked to, I can't believe Sony's put together the PSP is such a half-assed way (especially the square button issue). Suddenly, the occasional single dead pixel on a DS unti seems so much less irritating.
That would be rather difficult if you imported one from Japan.Originally Posted by digitalpress

Why aren't I too surprised by this considering what happened with the PS2's at launch?
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
Why? Would you buy something this expensive without a guarantee that it works?Originally Posted by Evan
Nope, I've seen a GIF version of the disc flying out and off somebody's shirt. Hillarious!Originally Posted by joshnickerson

For once I think we can be happy they launched something cool in Japan first and made most buyers "testers" over there before bringing them to the US. Sure some people over here imported them to be different (and paid more on top of it). I'm sure all the bugs will be worked out before they ship to the US.
Bwahahahahaha!! That is to funny! Looks like a cool system but that thing could put someones eye out! Sony must have brought in General Motors to design the disc eject system. It is now.. a "feature."

To the PSPs credit, you have to TWIST the system HARD, trying to break it in half, to get the disk to pop out. Check out the SWF someone posted, and you can easily see that.
