    Default GameCube Wireless Controllers

Hi everyone, I have recently gotten fed up with using the GameCube when my kids are around the room, my son almost made the poor thing fly out the window when he yanked the controller cord attached to the cube running at 100 mph!! Anyway, I was doing a little research on the wireless controllers for this system and was wondering if the Wavebird was the best solution? It does not even have a rumble feature. Is there a better alternative that others are using?

For the gamecube there is no better alternative to using a wavebird, The batteries last for ages too.

Like you said you no longer have rumble but the freedom they give you more than makes up for it.

Trust me, after using the Wavebird you won't care that the rumble feature is absent. It's the best wireless controller ever made.

The Wavebird makes it feel like you're actually in the game, its design is so comfortable that you completely forget that the controller is there sometimes.

If you'll do a search for "gamecube wavebird" you'll find a ton of people's opinions on these. Check it out!

Same as all the above - the Wavebird is the ONLY wireless controller I can use.

I tried other brands, even bought wireless controllers for my Xbox and PS2... and went back to the manufacturers one, the Wavebird is the only wireless controller that feels even better than the original controller.

By far the most incredible controller EVER, is the Wavebird. Never before has there been a first party wireless (or third party for that matter) that is such high quality. Because of the UHF frequency there is NO interference from anything else. You could be controlling you game a block away from your TV, hope your eyesight is good!
Spend the money, you won't regret it! I have 4 wavebirds for my cube-
    the only way to play!

Thanks everyone, I can see now that everyone feels the Wavebird is the way to go, if anyone has the recent Kmart deal with the Wavebird and Metroid Prime (I still have not played this game ) I would like to either purchase this from you or trade for it. Please give me a PM if you have one available.

Well, according to those on cheapassgamer, that Kmart Metroid Bundle is back--today and tomorrow only. $19.99 this time. I'd suggest going and taking a look for yourself! But it IS a YMMV for the bundle--some report its $29.99 too. Either way, it would come with a free game!

Yeah, I can't notice any lagging or variance in timing at all compared to a standard wired controller, despite trying specifically to find even a video frame or two of delay. And I play a lot of Beatmania, so if there is a timing difference, I WILL notice. Heh.

If you get one, try to avoid stores with $5 markup selling for $34.99. You shouldn't be paying more than $29.99 for these.

When it comes to consoles generally you want a logitech controller if you're going wireless, but with the game cube this isn't possible since logitech doesn't make any. But it doesn't really matter. The wavebird is one of the best wireless controllers in existence. The only disappointment is the lack of rumble, which doesn't make sense to me since i know they could've implemented it (i own 2 logitech wireless controllers for my ps2 and they last about the same time with rumble as the wavebird does without)

The loss of rumble doesn't detract from the gaming experience and i think you'll find once you get a wavebird in your hands that it's really the best option..

I would definitely go for the Wavebird. (In fact, I already have!) You won't believe how far away these things can work!

I would love to go take a look for myself but I live in Toronto Canada, we do not have Kmart's here any longer. If anyone picks up any extras and would like to trade let me know.

    Thanks

Just a heads up...K-Mart is having a 50% off sale on certain games. Just got back with the Wavebird/Metroid Prime bundle for $20.00

Edit: And I don't read all the posts before I respond with something thats already been said.

I'm gonna buy myself one of the Kmart Wavebird/Metroid Prime bundles we've had floating around for years. They're on sale for $20 today.. Only one left. $20 is less than the controller itself! I knew I'd luck out by waiting! (It's a nationwide sale on many games. Check your Kmart today and tomorrow. Just a friendly tip.)

Best part is I can resell the Metroid Prime if I don't like it and I haven't lost a cent. Even if I keep it, I've gained money.

I love the Wavebird so much, I was actually disappointed that the Donkey Konga drums weren't wireless!

Oh, and if you're also into retro gaming and looking for wireless solutions, I can't pimp these guys enough.

Couldn't have said it better. Who cares about the rumble feature, when you have a wavebird. It's by far the best controller I have ever had!

Ive stood outside my window while using my Wavebird, brick walls dont interfere with the signal at all The thing works reaaally far away, even when its pointed in the opposite direction. Ive tried and tried to find a flaw in its design but I just cant. I dont miss the rumble at all since it usually is implemented poorly and distracts me.

I've recently been amazed by how long the batteries are lasting me. When I was deep into playing through cube games it seemed like they didn't last long, but I'm about halfway through resident evil 4, and before this I played all the way through Tales of Symphonia without changing the batteries. I'm pushing 60 hours on one set of batteries right now.
