Default Is there any way to play MAME on your TV?

I don't get to use my computer much, on account of my dad always being on it, so I was wondering if there is a way to play MAME on a regular TV set.
I changed my sig because the old one sucks.

Sure, you just need a scan converter or a video card with a TV-out. If you google scan converter you should find a bunch of 'em.

EDIT: DUH, you mean without the computer. Try a modified X-box.

Modified? How so? And how inexpensive are XBoxes nowadays? I don't have enough money to spend on a new console just to play some arcade games.

Run some searches on this or Google it. You can probably do it without a mod, you would just have to deal with the paltry hard drive space.

As for not buying a console...are you looking for a way to play MAME on your TV for free? That's a tall order. If you have a Dreamcast there's probably a version of MAME out there for it that doesn't work very well. Otherwise, I don't know how you would do it without an X-box. You could try to pick up an old computer at a yard sale, but you would still need the scan converter unless it just happened to come w/ a TV out.

I don't understand. You want to play MAME on your TV but without using a computer or having to buy a new console? What were you planning on hooking up to the TV then?

An older console, perhaps? I have a Dreamcast, I guess I'll have to look into that. Or wait until I get the $499 to buy the new computer I need.
