Default Top 25 Philips CD-i Games

I'm trying to stay away from edutainment, and homebrews, and just focus on official US releases. Debate if necessary, but i'm sure there won't be much.

When I had my CDi, I always liked The Apprentice.

Chaos Control and Burn:Cycle were cool too

You're the one with edit power DP. Just change the list to top 25, add your 2 plus The Apprentice, Voyeur, and International Tennis Open (2-player), that should cover about all the bases then. The list should definitely not exceed 25 though. The rest should be debated.

What about Alice in Wonderland? It is one of my favorite CD-I games anyway.

replace the incredibly sucking 'Link: The Faces of Evil' by 'who shot johnny rock'.

I will fight for Link: Faces Of Evil till the bitter end. >

Zelda, and Zeldas Adventure were both forgettable, but Link was constructed quite nicely, if you never beat it, I suggest you do. Not only is it a testament to Philips brief relationship with big N, but it's a game with good strategic fighting. One of the Zelda/Link games belongs on the list for sure imo, and imo, this one was always the best.

I never played Johnny Rock, but everything I ever heard about it was mediocre. If you have to choose any spot to replace it with, pick on Voyeur, but stay away from my Link. >

Btw, I always heard that Thunder In Paradise was better than Who SJR anyway, but I never played that either.

I have no comment on Alice in Wonderland, I never had the chance to play that one.

Btw, could you please change the list to the top 25 DP. Pac Panic, The Appentice, and Hotel Mario should be listed as I second the motion. That will leave 2 spots open.

Voyeur, International Tennis Open (2-player), Who Shot Johnny Rock, Thunder In Paradise, and Alce In Wonderland are still negotiable at the moment.

Ir really should be a 25 though, and I should have made it that. I really don't see any foul in this, 25 is a standard top list order anyway, 25,50,75,100, etc..., unless a system REALLY SUCKS, which CD-i didn't.

What 2 games will take up the next spots "if DP will change it"? We need some votes people "hin, hint, International Tennis Open (2-player) should definitely be there ", we need opinions!

Okay, syaing a system with a top 20 list "REALLY SUCKS" was not the best usuage of words "no edit button."

What it really comes down to is the integrity of the list, and I feel 25 would better suit this list.

    Thank You.

Nothing to add here? Joker's Wild? Arcade Classics? Maybe one of the new homebrew titles from oldergames.com?

It's been upped to top 25, needs a few more.

Is this system really worth playing? I've had the player for ever and just ran into the FMV cartridge. now i got all this and now what, either i need to find the best game to convince me to keep it or i just want to unload it outright.
My life and perception has changed, but my principals are the same.

    Well...

It's not a terrible system, but there are a LOT of terrible games for it. The top 25 list here consists of a really good stable of solid titles, and there are some more. Also the system plays VCD's which gives it a little extra value. To me it's the early 90's equivalent to NUON.

Gameplay-wise, it's kind of similar to 3DO. At least that's the closest thing to it in terms of graphic quality and load times. The real shame is that developers put way too much stock in the FMV capabilities and although there are really very few FMV games, there are so so many that attempt to WOW you with dazzling "real life" graphics. Even back then it was cheesy.

Don't sell it off before trying it out! I'm not going to promise that you'll love it, but at least try a handful from the list above - you may be pleasantly surprised.

Has anyone played Axis and Allies for the CD-i? I enjoy the boardgame so I wouldn't mind trying to track down the game along with a CD-i.

    .
Only the second version played vcd's out of the box. Otherwise you had to buy the extra plug-in video module.

Didn't some of the FMV games like Space Ace also require you to buy the MPEG module? I have a CDi and Space Ace, but I've yet to try this out. Can someone verify this?
