All great games.Too bad I lost my Saturn Williams collection,it had all my favs on it! :-(
I really wouldn't call Moon Patrol a true Williams game.. they just licensed it. It was by some Japanese company where I grew up at.. but I forget who (Irem?)
My favorite Williams game is still definitely ROBOTRON My top 3 are the obvious and most well known Williams games.. but there's a reason for it and it's not hype. They're just that good
1. Robotron: you just can't beat it. You can play it year after year.. and if you get tired of it, just lay off for a few months, because you'll be right back and it will still be as fresh and challenging as ever
2. Defender: Still can bring the best players to their knees.. yet it's still very "masterable"
3. Joust: 'Nuff said.
Oh!, i forgot Joust!!!, thank you NE146, well, in my top 3 i replace Moon patrol for Joust
Oh god, Robotron wins. Not even close. The first arcade game I paid over a thousand dollars for.
Although I have not played them all, my favorite so far would be Joust.
Without a doubt, Robotron: Cool sound effects and addictive as hell.

I can't believe Defender hasn't been anybody's favorite yet! When I saw this topic header, the ONLY Williams game I even thought of was Defender.
For Me, Defender is definitely THE #1 Williams game. Having read through the others, Joust would be up there too. I remember liking Sinistar, but barely remember the game now. Was Satan's Hollow Williams? It was pretty good too.
But Defender (or Stargate) is definitely head & shoulders above any others. No contest.
I think there is a reason why. I've really never been able to get into Defender because... well... I don't find it all that fun. I bought it, but only because I got a good deal on it and because it fits the scheme of my arcade (classics from the 80s).
Seriously though, it's just not all that fun a game, and it hasn't even aged paticularly well. As with a game like... say... Joust, you can still have a blast playing Cutthroat Joust. And Robotron is still every bit as frantic, fastpaced, and insane as it was when I was a really little kid. Defender is just... sort of there.
My Top three has to be;
Stargate - Without any Doubt Whatsoever!
Joust
Smash TV
Not that I don't love Robotron, Sinistar and other classics, but they can't all be in my top 3
@Charlie -
I haven't managed to get myself any arcade games yet, although I've wanted one since I was a kid. And, tops on my list has always been either Defender or Stargate. Unfortunately I can't afford eBay prices for one, and haven't taken the time to hunt for one with any sort of determination.
If you decide to unload yours (& if you're reasonably near me geographically - I'm in New Jersey, USA), I'd definitely like to discuss buying yours from you.
1. It's not for sale.
2. If it was for sale, you wouldn't be able to afford it (or you would think I'm charging to much)
3. I live nowhere near you.
Besides, Defender isn't really that hard to find as far as arcade games go. I had a way tougher time tracking down Robotron. I just stumbled across Defender and was like "Are you looking to sell it? You are? Well hot dog." But I put in WAY to much work to unload this thing.
My favorite Williams coin-op is Hit the Ice. Four players, twelve chemically imbalanced characters with hockey sticks, a blind referee, and plenty of fights.
Never use a long word where a short one will do.

Joust was my favorite Williams arcade game.
No, i also like blaster and...Turkey shoot
You guys that like Turkey Shoot... did you ever play the actual arcade cabinet? I think it threw up real feathers! :P
BTW, I like Blaster too. But although Sinistar is cool.. that's one Williams game I can't get into. It's just TOO difficult. And you can play it all you want, but I have yet to see anyone really master it (although I'm sure there are people who are good at the game). I just haven't seen anyone near me over the past 20 years who could do anything relevant past the 3rd or 4th stage. :P RUN COWARD!!!!!!!!1
