Default The game that is Shadowgate

Recently my brother was playing Age of Mytology on the PC. I was sitting next to him playing Shadowgate on my Nintendo. Even though I conquered it more than 20 times I always like to revisit it's dark setting. :P As I was playing he asked me why I kept playing that game even though I knew the story, knew what would happen, and knew what to do. I gave him the control to play for a while, but he only lasted about 2 minutes and then he got bored. This made me wonder why is it that at his age I could sit down and play Shadowgate for hours, even though I would make no progress some days, but my brother can't sit for a minute. Maybe all this technology has spoiled him. I remember a day one day in particular I was on the couch for at least 3 hours and I had done nothing, but moved around the rooms trying to get a freakin key from a skeleton. My parents were mad as hell, but I presisted and told them that I needed to conquer the game or I would not be able to sleep that night. Finally I conquered the game. No tricks, magazines, or cheat codes. I had conquered Shadow gate on my own.

    My questions are:

Am I the only one that NEEDED to pass this game in order to sleep comfortably?

What game did you play that did not let you have a good night's rest?
All my meseta if you can guess what CMTZ stands for.

lol @ parents "ruining their mind." fuck, Shadowgate is a mental exercise (more in some parts than others). The whole concept of using torches to limit game time was genius.

Or someone just get tired of old games and find them boring.

When I was about 10, Final fantasy 3 kept me up many nights...it was worth it.

Maybe he still had his mind on the PC game he was playing? If I'm immersed in a game, not much else would seem interesting, and I wouldn't want to break my concentration.

I was stuck for about a year on the part where you had to learn a spell by "using" a wall in the Epor room. I had to get the solution from the Worlds Of Power novel...

Perhaps he was spoiled from having specifically played Shadowgate 64.
