what is the best method for doing so..?
what is the best method for doing so..?
(This method could also be used for any other cartridge-based system as well.)
1. Take a Q-Tip.
2. Take some rubbing alcohol.
3. Soak Q-Tip inside of rubbing alcohol.
4. Swab rubbing alcohol filled Q-Tip inside of cartridge. Make sure to swab all contacts evenly.
5. Turn Q-Tip around.
6. Now, using the dry side, rub the contacts once again.
7. Test game.
8. If it doesn't work, repeat as necessary.
I'll add a step to that, to the beginning actually...
i) Open cartrige with a gamebit (don't know the size off the top of my head, I just grab the closest one until I have the correct one) to gain easier access to the contacts.
ii) If cartridge happens to be Virtua Racing, you might as well reposition the heat sink since its mounting is probably screwed up.
I agree, first step is to open it up.Screw the qtips.I usually clean it off with a rag then polish the contacts with a pencil eraser then give it a final cleaning with alcohol on a rag and dry it
I would assume this is the same procedure as to clean just cartridges in general, like NES cartridges?
And, a question: If you used a Q-Tip to clean the cartridges, would you let it air-dry or just scrub it with the dry side of the Q-Tip and try it?

4.5mm Gamebit, T15 Torx bit, or T15 Security Torx (looks like a Torx, but has a pin in the middle) bit.Originally Posted by InsaneDavid
