Yep it's the PAL boxes (forgot to mention that). I bought a bunch of games while on holiday but all (ALL!) the boxes were completely shattered while traveling back home

davidleeroth is right about the fragility of these boxes. It seems that in this case the packaging is even more easily damaged than the games inside it...
