I played the demo at work and it's actually fun! It's a brawler with Co-Op mode even, interesting tricks to pull off, the buttons are simplistic and easy to pick up.
And you can still perform Fatalities on random creatures while you build up your meter and learn new ones!
Takes place right after MK1, so Lui Kang and Kung Lao have to escape Goro's Lair...and many cameos will appear, like Baraka, Johnny Cage, Reptile.
The Pit from Mortal Kombat 1 is back and they kept it perfect to the original, (Santa Claus and the UFO is floating in the background when they fly across the moon lol)
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
I am looking forward to this game, I am planning to go and get the demo to try it out,
but it's looking really cool, might be a great game.

Fantastic demo. What's weird is that it FEELS like Mortal Kombat. The way the special moves are handled is incredible, and so many more games need to use this system.
Oh, and I can't forget that the camera is set like a classic beat-em-up, and it can stil move for some better angles when needed. This is how Ninja Gaiden should have worked.

Let me just say that Kung Lao's "bunny" fatality has become the best in the series, replacing Quan Chi's leg rip. So freakin' sadistic, it's funny. Liu Kang's Soccer kick is good too.
It's not God of War, but it's damn good.
I'm glad to be hearing good about SM here! Let's admit it... the first two attempt at MK-themed beat-em-ups weren't... good. At all. Mythologies had some good concepts, but was muddled by HORRIBLE control. And Special Forces... the less said, the better. In fact, for purposes meant to preserve the integrity of the video gaming universe, SF never existed. :P
I am very glad to read positive reviews on this... and I'm happy to have seen an unlucky schmuck thrown straight into the mouth of a tree in the Living Forest. Bitchin'! Though, if it runs for $50, I may sadly have to stave it off. I have my money set elsewhere... but anyhoo, great review there, Matt. From what you're telling me, I'll be entertained for quite a while.

Oh snap. SNAP, dammit. I just read that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are unlockable for play after beating the game with both Liu Kang and Kung Lao. I... think I will have to spend $50 to get this now. AUGH.

I got this, and its GREAT, the levels are beautiful, the moves are great, the combo's SICK.. this game is a must have for any MK fan, unlike mk.mythologies before it, you WON'T be dissapointed.

lol, I was making reference to both of the mythologies, sub zero and Jax, WTF obtw were they thinking in making him the second guy for that series, shit, where I am from, (earth) he was one of the least popular characters, but hey what do I know...
I saw a commercial for this game last night. I had actually never heard of it until then, but it looked like a really cool game. Sort of brought back some memories of playing the old MKII.
Actually I have some really kick ass news.
Mortal Kombat 2 (Arcade) is hidden in the game! That's right, you love MK2 so much, it's in Shaolin Monks! If you missed out on Midway Arcade Treasures 2, it's back again...

they should have included MK1 instead, since its not on the midway collection. i still need to pick up the CD that came with deception.
Time to get a Xbox or a PS2 can't decide bleh? I want to go with xbox because of slowdowns and easy die hardware but then again PS2 has so many great games maybe I should just wait for next gen if it's backward compatible? meh
