Default Any chance of repairing a laptop CD/DVD drive?

Well, after some intense usage of my laptop's DVD drive over the last 24 hours, the drive has failed, with the laptop about 2-3 months out of warranty.

Do any of you know how to repair such a beast? It was used a lot over the last 24 hours, and will no longer read discs.

A replacement, according to Dell's site, is $119.95. On eBay, they're running around $70+$15 shipping, so I'd prefer to avoid replacement if I can.
