I don't know why.
But can you imagine people waiting behind them, and everyone's mouths drop to the ground when they start smashing it in front of everyone? Haha. That would be funny.
To be a real jerk to all those drooling fanboys who are waiting outside for one. I would not do that because I would be mobed my the fans after the destruction of their idol, would do it if I could live after though.

Are they mad?!?
The same people (or a similar group) had a smash-my-ipod thing going. When Leander Kahney of Cult of Mac/Wired News questioned the motives of the guy (ie. raise money to buy a new iPod and smash an older one -- in other words scamming people), the guy retorted that it was for real, etc.
Most of us Sega Fanboy's moved over to the Xbox after the Sega up and died in the hardware biz. So whats your point exactly?Originally Posted by hegyak

Reminds me of the time a local radio station drove over a Tickle Me Elmo doll with their Hummer. It was defective, and they were still getting calls from people pleading with them not to do it, and to sell it to them instead.
404'ed!!!
There also was a group who did it with the PSP in Japan before it was released in the US, during the shortage in Japan.
What gets me mad is that those people messed up someone's chance to ENJOY that xbox 360 WITHOUT it being destroyed.
That was their purpose, to shock people and piss them off.Originally Posted by Slate

Still Around...Still Gamin'...
Q: Why?
A: Attention.
Stupid,Stupid and Stupid but I would rather they smash an Xbox 360 than Paris Hilton getting one at a launch party and never using it
But someone did enjoy it.. just not in the way you would.Originally Posted by Slate
There is gonna be a million of these things made and 2-5 years lifespan to enjoy it while it's still current but, you only get one chance to do this much psychological damage to this number of people in a public place without breaking the law and subsequently being incarcerated for it.

Imagine the guy has a pop-banner contract with that page.
He smashes an Xbox360 and boom he gets enough money to buy 5 new ones.
I would do it, if it workes out.

This guy could run a damn good scam with that website...
