And yes, the graphics, sound, multiplayer options, etc all fall in line with that. Xbox version is much better than PS2 because it's a PC port in the first place. If you have no PC, but both consoles, get the Xbox version. If you only have a PS2, rent it. If you have a PC, download RTCW:Enemy Territory for free. Yes, free.
One of the best multiplayer online games ever, and it's free. Getting a little dated now, but the team and objective-based battles are a blast, there are a variety of classes to choose from, and even ranks to achieve during matches.
EDIT : Damn, forgot to mention the awesome split-screen co-op for the Xbox version. Anyways, good times if you like FPS and WW2 themed stuff.
I thought I read that the XBox and PS2 "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" titles were actually completely different games? I think they have different subtitles which would kind of support that theory.
I think they did that so that people wouldn't rip the PS2 version too harshly.Originally Posted by Rogmeister
Basically the same game, story and maps are laid out a little differently, but weapons, gameplay, sound, graphics are more or less identical.
The crucial difference is really the multiplayer options. PC version has tons, Xbox has a lot (including co-op, unavailable on PC), and PS2 has basically none.
The PC one is obviously the superior of them but I did enjoy the Xbox version alot also, never tried the PS2 version.
I played it at a friend who was renting it from one of those online game rental things .. it was ok, graphics were suprisingly decent, but if you've already done the Xbox, there's no reason to mess with the PS2 version. Anyone here who knows me will tell ya that I'm dangerously close to being an Xbox hater, but I'll readily admit when they have something solid on it.Originally Posted by Joker T
I do FPS and RTS, so I do it on PC, my Xbox career was blissfully short, FPS on gamepad = teh devil
don't forget that the console versions have 7 extra levels at the start that explain how you end up behind bars, and they include a wolf3d port that's damn near perfect, not to mention new enemies, a pump shotgun and new powerups, maps have been re-worked etc. etc. a enough goodies to keep it off the "plain old port" list.
the only thing the ps2 has the the xbox doesn't is a mini-shop where you can buy power-ups, otherwise the xbox version is superior.
Well im pretty sure your wrong about Wolf3d being on both the PS2 and XBOX.
IIRC only the XBOX version has that feature, but I will check when I get home from work, also the PC version owns all, but the Xbox is by for the superior console port.
how do you access Wolf3D on the Xbox version
by finishing the main game, it then is unlocked:

Cool! Now I'm off to beat the game. Which I wish I had done when I picked it up 6 mnths agoOriginally Posted by Emuaust
Hey ghost, what kind of PC do you have? If you enjoy the ride on Xbox, you could probably score the PC version for $10 or less .. or get the Enemy Territory game for free RTCW runs really great even on cards like GF2. ET runs awesome on GF3 and newer.Originally Posted by ghostangelofcky

The Xbox version has the shotgun, which the PS2 version doesn't.
Tell me the model, there's a good chance RTCW would run awesome on there. If you have :Originally Posted by ghostangelofcky

Sweet That would run it awesome at say 1024x768 with settings on high. Plug in an external usb mouse, and you're golden.
You can also download RTCW : Enemy Territory for free. It's a bit more demanding than regular RTCW, but at 800x600 it should still run pretty smooth. It has no single-player mode, but the Multiplayer is some of the best ever.
