no haven't gotten pics, BTW what is the command to get FDS loader to load with a rom? i din't see it in the read me. i've also been havig one hell of a better success rate loading games now since installing the felt square from a tape on the fds. and have found out that the artifacts on the screen are from my actual famicom. i went to my friends house and brought my fds with me and just used his famicom, and all the graphix loaded fine, yet all my cart games load fine with the exception of Metal gear 2. which shows the same courruption. so my famicom is some what screwed up, but on only like 1% of games and the FDS. thank god i bought a new famicom and fds. any luck dumping the bung prog?

I had some luck dumping the bung program and a couple others. I dumped 4 rare disks and 2 wouldn't dump (well, they did dump, but didn't work). Some programs require certain Bung copiers or whatever to work, since sometimes they address registers and such in the additional hardware. I sent the seemingly broken files to Kyuusaku and he first thought the Copy Master program was one of these "copier-only" programs, but now he thinks otherwise and is now investigating whether he can make the file a workable file. Basically, fdsloadr dumped it fine, but it doesn't load. Seems the checksums came up ok though, because there were no errors on the dump. VERY strange, but then, most Bung programs were very strange and exploited certain weird features to get their stuff to work. So, I'll keep you posted on that.

The command to get Fdsloadr to work is like the following. I'll use the example of my doki doki panic file, which has been labeled dokidoki.fds

    C:/whateverdirectoryfdsloadrisin/fdsloadr.com dokidoki.fds

When you overwrite a disk or when you load a game to the ram adapter, this command makes sense. But for some, it is a confusing command when you are dumping a game since when you dump a disk, you have to overwrite it over an already existing fds image on your computer. Make sure the image is in the same directory as fdsloadr.

    Does this make sense?

Get this, i got my new fds, belted it and it works like a CHAMP! and the head doesn't have the flat spot! and it turns out my ram adaptor is jacked, cause my new ram adator works fine, but the old one produces the artifacts on my fami, BUT not on my friends, which to me is freakin weird!. what rare disks did you dump rob? mind emailing them to me? ALSO. what did you do to make the edge connector that goes into the disk sys, i soldered the points straight to the board and it works, but it's really weird lookin , and only did it cause of the points. also, rob would you like the 7201 control board outta my disk drive? i've deeemed that disk drive screwed and am buying a new 7201 drive to replace it, but the board on the old drive is MINTY, so i figure you can unsolder your old board and solder this unprotected one and try to do some back up copies of games. this wouuld be when i score the other one though., as im sorta still using it for the atemted dumping and copying.

Not really freaky at all. This leads me to believe the contacts on the RAM adapter AND the Famicom were dirty, but your friend's FC contacts were not. You need to thoroughly clean them both. RAM adapter almost never go bad.

what rare disks did you dump rob? mind emailing them to me?
    Let's see...

    1. Copy Master (dump not working)
    2. Disk labeled "Copy Tool" (have no clue what it is, dump doesn't work, and I know I won it in a Yahoo JP,auction though I'm pretty sure I knew a year ago what it was I can't remember for the life of me. If it would only boot up....still investigating what this baby is)
    3. Tonkachi Editor/Tonkachi Mario. I thinkthis is some kind of game editor/hacker tool for FDS games. Side B has a hacked version of SMB on it.
4.Disk Hacker v 1.3. After 1.3 version 2 came out and that was the last one. I think it was a copying/hacking program

The last 2 appear to be good dumps, and I don't think any one ever dumped them before. Very cool stuff, and I would love for someone to hack these for English. I'll gladly send the good dumps to you. Email me again with your contact info?

ALSO. what did you do to make the edge connector that goes into the disk sys, i soldered the points straight to the board and it works, but it's really weird lookin , and only did it cause of the points.
For the PC to FDS cable I used an AV cable for an SNES. The trick was finding one with all 12 contacts on the card edge. I bought mine from Lik sang. I opened the connector to fit a little female power port onto it. :-) Remember which side is up when using this. Beats the hell out of making your own and looks much more professional.

As for the PC-RAM Adapter cable, I used the female AV connector on a broken SNES. you have to very carefully make a couple cutting marks inside the connector to accommodate the corners on the FDS ram adapter plug. I used a drill bit. Be real careful you don't nick the connector in a bad spot.

also, rob would you like the 7201 control board outta my disk drive? i've deeemed that disk drive screwed and am buying a new 7201 drive to replace it, but the board on the old drive is MINTY, so i figure you can unsolder your old board and solder this unprotected one and try to do some back up copies of games. this wouuld be when i score the other one though., as im sorta still using it for the atemted dumping and copying.
That would be very cool. I'm definitely up for it if it's ok with you.

It makes me so happy to see the FDS getting the attention it derserves. I just ordered a replacement belt for my Twin from JFGoods. Hopefully it'll work like a charm.

About those belts...I mentioned in the restoration forum today that I have all the dimensions of the belts at home...I measured them with some pretty accurate equipment intended for this kind of thing. Hopefully someone will use this info to find more local and cheaper sources. Belts shouldn't barely cost shit....most VCR belts and such cost cents. I'll try to dg up that info tonight...wrote it down somwhere.

OK, got the dimensions. I'm glad I finally got around to posting this, because I've been meaning to for a while and some other folks were asking me for it.

Flat Ribbon Style, 2mm wide (approx .080 inch), but fds may take 3mm (.120 inch) or 4mm (.160 inch) wide also. It is just slightly less than 1mm thick. Inside diameter is 9.125 inches, but I theorize that a 9 inch belt may also be just fine. I hope to hear if anyone gets a chance to experiment with belts of those two sizes. Please let me know if you do, and let me know if you manage to find belts of these dimensions anywhere.

Hmm, dunno, man. There were forum updates since that post. What was it in reference to and in what thread did you see that link? We may be able to dig it up that way.

I think you mean 9.125 cm diameter and not 9.125 inch? 9 inch is longer than the FDS itself.?
