    Default guns

I was curious about how the guns for the various systems work. I was looking to possibly get one for a select few games, and didn't know if it had to be a certain tv to get it to work. I have an old 27" tube tv, but i'd be nice to have it on the projector at 95"

AFAIK, light guns need a scanning image in order to work, so you can only use them with CRT displays.

I believe all light guns still need to be used on a CRT, even the ones with a pass trough. I recently tried a new GunCon on an LCD display, no dice.

Hmmm.. I know my friend plays House of the Dead 3 w/his Xbox light gun on his rear projection big screen all the time.
I think the kind of older guns that required a sensor box.. need tube TVs.. but the newer gen guns need either CRT OR rear projection.

Come to think of it.. I've also played HOD2 with him on his TV using both of our Dreamcast MadCatz guns as well.

Oh no.. I can vouch for HOD2 on an old tube TV.. that's the way I play it, as well, when I'm home.

As far as I know light guns don't mix well with Projection, LCD and Plasma Tvs. I think there are some lightguns around that allow support these sets but i'm not sure.

Old lightguns will not work on CRT TV if they don't have an interlaced mode. If it upconverts everything (like mine), they don't work.

Some of the newer guns like for HOD III work fine on HD sets. I believe the Silent Scope Rifle works too.

I've tried several with my projector and never had one work yet.
