To get a job (was laid off) so I can afford to purchase games. After that I figure I'm going to try to finish off the 32x , SMS and NES sets.
Cool! I often have a hard time maintaining interest in specific collections, but I'm pretty sure I'm going for a Turbografx collection too. Sticking to near complete HuCards (game/manual/case if it came with one), I have 48 (46 complete). I doubt I will complete the HuCard portion in 2006, but my goal is to get a lot closer.Originally Posted by Geddon_jt
Another goal is to complete my collection of games by Treasure! I have 19 and including some variants I have 9 to go!
Mine is also not so much of a collecting goal as it is a playing goal. My goal is to beat at least 20% of my current gen games (probably 200 right now with maybe 1% completed, I think ) and to better organize it all.

** Trying to finish up an overly complete Dreamcast collection... want to help? (Updated 5/3/10!) http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61333
I have a few goals in mind.
GAMING
1) Replace all the PS 1 games I have had to sell over the years.
2) 75 Sealed Dreamcast games.
3) Buy a boxed 3DO or TurboGrafx
Nothing too far out of reach.
NON GAMING
1) To pool up $3000 in cash by Dec 1 via eBay buying and selling.
I cant set a goal for myself, because I've got a car to buy, and then I've got a PC to make not-suck. After that, I'll be back in, but until then, very little gaming purchases for me. Hopefully I can make it.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Number 1 in the 'hood g!
Post a room pics, participate in DP secret santa 2006, finihs my complete 32x US cart collection, and get all sega games on PS2 that arent on gamecube also.
Good topic Adam. I love seeing what other people prioritize in collecting.
Here are mine:
1. Buy a brand New Turbo Duo in box to replace the one I sold in 2005.
2. Complete my Sega Master System collection (I have all of the rares except Buster Douglass & Sonic)!
3. Might as well finish off a 32X collection (I'm halfway there).
4. Replenish all of the loose Genesis and Jaguar games I sold in 2005 with boxed complete ones.
Oh yeah...I forgot the biggest ones:
5. To build a storage shed out back so I can get all of the non-gaming related crap out of my "Room-of-doom".
6. (#5 will need to be done first) Take tons of pictures of my room-of-doom and submit to DP!
7. (again #5 is almost nessacary) Document EVERYTHING I have both for collecting (so I stop buying doubles) and for insurance purposes!
I've been lazily pursuing the "complete" collection for about the past 3 years now . I tell you what, it is quite a challenge! I have hit some milestones, though. I have a lot of the rarest games out of the way (Bonk 3 hu, about 90% of the rarest Super CDs) but the ones remaining (Magical Chase, Bonk 3 CD, Soldier Blade etc) I have just been too lazy to plunk down the cash for. For many of the rarest games, such as Dynastic Hero, M+M3, Terraforming, etc, it is as challenging just finding them for sale as it is paying for them! Also, I stumbled upon a great lot of stuff at a local flea, where i got Ys I and II (non packin complete with map), Bonk 3 hu, and a lot of late-release hus for $20 each. Collecting the hus complete is something I will get to after I actually have the games. My dream is to actually put the hus in baseball-card protector style pages in a giant binder, so the boxes and cases aren't as important to me as they are on the CD games.Originally Posted by le geek
Oh, and the Treasure thing is a great goal. One hopefully I will set for myself someday.
Sorry about the thread derailment!
Hmmm....I'd say have atlease 150 SNES games by next year, I've got a little over 110 right now. Finding a TurboGrafx-16 or Saturn in the wild would be awesome. Exceding 75 Genesis and Gamecube games would be great too. Let's hope it all happens
3 goals**
only the first one i am really striving for
1) Would like to get 1 variation of every Mortal Kombat game released in the US CIB.
I can always try picking up variations as i go or in later years
Most of these are longshot goals that i will probably not actively focus on
2) I would like to hit 600 games by the end of the year.
3)
20 DS Games
50 PS games
45 PS2 Games
35 DC Games
40 SNES games
50 Genesis
35 PC
35 N64
35 Xbox
45 2600 games
150 NES games
25 GCN
Complete R-Zone collection
**Goal number three is actually made up of multiple sub goals
Wow, you've got every US-released PSX RPG but you still haven't hit 100? You must have an excellent quality ratio. I'm going for that goal myself, but I've already surpassed 150 games and still have a bunch of RPGs left to get. I think I have a half decent quality ratio, but then again, I also have crap like The Mummy kicking around. x_xOriginally Posted by vahn401
Let's see... Goals for 2006... I have various goals, like the aforementioned one, but I seriously don't see them getting completed before 2007. So for some realistic goals:
1. Beat every Game Boy game I own (I know, not a collecting goal).
2. Bump my GB/GBC collection up to 50 (after completing number 1; I'll need more games of course :) ).
3. Hit 700 games total.
Main focus for the year: Finish my PAL Mega Drive collection - just under 200 to go, with almost all the rarer ones done. Dunno if I'll get 'em all this year, but should be able to get pretty close. Then start on variants & Genesis exclusives...
Here's another one for me which should be quite easy...make my 5000th post on this board. After this one, I only need 837 more to reach that. All I need do to to reach that is to average 2.29 posts a day...
Well since I completed my first collection this year I have that satisfaction of knowing what getting there feels like so action plan for 2006 includes
Get the remaining 2 systems for the US NGPC collection to have EVERYTHING US released for the system.
Get those 80 or so remaining DC games, and the small handfull of variants... then decide how crazy i'll get for the rest of the systems and accessories.
Get those two done so I can delve back into the PSOne collection and make a dent in those 500 or so games I still need, and of course aquire variants. Variants are good.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.
Some of My Game Collection Mah Mac n' Cheese Blog
Well, after a hiatus from collecting, due to financial situations and then being busy after getting promoted I want to pick up where I left off 8 months ago and finish last year's goals this year. Those being:
1) Finish NES Collection. 182 to go
2) Finish VB Collection
3) Make up my damn mind on which stand up arcade cab I want.
4) Upgrade the damn tv. RCA 32" isn't cutting it.
I suppose I'm also looking for gainful employment so that I can afford to spend a little more. At 410 NES games currently, I'm not going to come close to finishing it for a few years, if ever. But, 500 could be within reach depending on how money shakes out this year.
Also, I'd like to finish up my "really want to play" list of games... I figure there's about 15-20 SNES, 5-10 DC and PSX, and a handful of others.
And on a completely unrelated note, rather than games, I'd like to "collect" enough credits so that I can student teach in Spring 2007 and graduate.
It seems like a lot of ppl want to finish their 32x collection....and I'm one of them...
so, my 3 major goals are:
1) Finish my Sega 32x collection (Brutal, Pitfall, Primal Rage, Spider-man, & World Series Baseball)
2) Finish my Nintendo Power collection (I have issues 1-200, 2 variants of #92, with the other 2 #92 variants coming in the mail right now) (once I get those 2 in, I'm laying them all out for pictures and then people on here can tell me if I'm missing any other variants)
3) Work on making my loose NES games complete (I have a list of boxes and manuals I need, and I found someone with a huge portion of them, but I don't have the spare $325 right now....and probably won't until sometime around May or June)
