Sure enough, the winning bidder has 0 feedback...but if you look at the bid history, there was someone with 100% positive feedback who bid up to $99.

That's just an insane price for a single magazine... Makes me wish I kept all my old gaming mags...
Well, I'll be darned. Didn't know it was worth that much. I've only got one issue of that magazine, and it just happens to be the first issue. Nice to know!
"As you traitors roast in your own juices, I will be safely ensconced three miles below the earth's surface, listening to my wax-cylinder player and enjoying a delicious phosphate!"
This is probably my favorite issue of NP due to the kick ass Zelda overworld map. Also, at the time, I literally would have killed to get a copy of Super Mario Bros. 2. I had several of these issues and it felt like I had one on my person at all times for several months.
Yeah, I knew it would get up to that someday.
And it will only keep rising in price.
I have a couple issues of this and two of them I have are brand new and never even looked at. The reason this auction went so much was because it had the map and it looks to be in almost perfect condition.
Oh wow! i can't believe it went for that much. i wonder how many np #1's will hit the market now. i need to pick up one up if i can find one reasonably priced.
Definately, but don't even bother if the issue is not is mint-perfect condition. It also needs all the insert cards as well as the zelda poster. The poster is probably most important I am guessing.Originally Posted by atari_wizard

The first issue of Computer Gaming World went for more than that did a few months ago. I was following the auction because I really wanted it but it ultimately went for a lot more than I was able to spend. I wish I still had the link but I think the listing expired anyways.
Well, CGW #1 is deserving of going for a lot of cash as I doubt there more than several hundred examples left extant. (CGW's circulation was in the low thousands until the mid-to-late 80s.)
Nintendo Power #1, on the other hand, there's a billion of. It was among the top-circulation magazines of its day, period, the way GI is now.
i bought mine at the flea market complete a few years back for 3 bucks, its one of my favorite issue of nintendo power ever.
mine is complete and i wouldnt sell it for 1000.00
if i remember right there is 2 diffrent copies of this.
one was free through nintendo through a mail offer is how i got my first copy. (i wore this issue out back in the day)
and the newstand copy.

I bought the first 6 issues once directly from the magazine itself and have hardly looked at them since. And I recently quit eBay, too...
