Anybody know what happened here? This game is almost impossible to find in English and now it's all over Ebay for $20, cartridge only.

well let's say: SNK warehouse, considerable cash offer, tons of games awaiting re-flash, re-sticker, re-box and re-sale to japan market, thus a considerable number of them start a steady trickle into the market.
The Faselei! is the US version as well, notice the ESRB rating.... Not like the UK version that was released.
I'm inclined to think they're pirates, with the fuzzy/unclear picture of the labels.
It could just be the quality of the photo, Bratwurst. At least that's what I'd like to think. I've wanted this one for a while, but I know that bootleg games make KOS-MOS cry and shoot lasers from her android abs. Xenosaga is so weird.
Anyway, the labels look okay in these auctions.

Yeah, but they're at a distance, and why are they in jewelcases of all things? CONSPIRACY I TELLS YA
They're pirates. No question. Faselei was NOT released in the US at all. The only English version is the Euro one. Hence the reason they all have no boxes and no manuals. They can fake the game label, but they can't fake a manual without getting a lot closer to easy copyright infringement. It's a total scam, guarantee it.

I've been wanting to get this game for a long time but did'nt want to pay $70 for the Euro version.
It seems that the thread is leaning to the Pirated side. Anybody else have any info?

However, I do think that those Fas carts are boots.
Its funny, I'm usually not a stickler for complete games, but i love the box art on NGPC games...and its become damn near impossible to find a complete NGPC game on eBay anymore...

The best 2D and 2.5D video games.
Wow! I was wrong. Turns out they are the real deal. When SNK folded they sent their NOS (New Old Stock) carts to their Hong Kong branch and warehoused em. It seems that they never made boxes for them at all sadly, because they were still in production when the whole deal was cancelled and the NGPC was killed. So they're real official unreleased US carts. No boxes exist for them, hence the lack of boxes.

Very very interesting. Great for anyone who wants to affordably play Faselei or Reversi or any of the other spendy NGPC games that are being released cart only now, but sucks for collectors cause who wants bare carts when games like Faselei look so friggin cool in the boxes!

Thanks for the info. That thread is an interesting read. Looks like we will be swamped with cartridge only Neo Geo Pocket games. I'll finally get to play the games that were getting too exspensive.
Will this affect the price of the UK boxed versions?
I expect that the price of the UK clamshell Faselei and other rare games will stay high due to collector demand. Everyone likes to have complete games if they can. This means that the vast majority of owners of Faselei will have it cart only, and a lot of them will want the complete version for the art and manual. If anything, I can see it driving the value of a complete Euo version up after a while. If it does drop, it won't drop a lot...or at least, that's my guess.

I'm no Neo Geo Pocket expert, but wasn't Metal Slug Second Mission unreleased in the states? If so, I wonder if a US version will turn up because of this.
MS 2nd Mission did have a US release.Originally Posted by Bratwurst
told ya.... so :P
Like I said the guy(s) bought out the old wearhouse and thus US Faselei! (and UK reversi)
Anyways, Metal Slug 2 WAS released in the US, I bought it new and still have it... new =)
Also have a US hardshell Metal Slug 1 and yes, it is US not Euro, as I have both.
I'll probably pick the US versions that were not released in the US like Faselei! eventually, but I still have 2 UK ones so it is not high on the priority list.
Interesting stuff... I had wondered about all these auctions myself. I knew about NOS and the return to back home... didn't know they'd escaped!
Speaking of which hopefully shall finish my complete UK NGPC collection (39) over the weekend with the acquisition of the last 2 I need...
I've been offered a US version of NGPC with all 30 US games for $300. Good deal?
If everything is boxed complete, that's a steal!
