Finally, Hyperkin is offering a portable SNES.

    My comments/questions.

    1. First and foremost: MOVE THE START BUTTON. That's about as bad as the swapped buttons on the original FC Mobile (I know, not HK's fault). Pressing Start with your left thumb isn't how the console has been played... ever. Put in a game that uses Start often, one that you have played for a long time (say... Megaman X), you'll see what I mean right off the bat. (I am assuming that the two buttons on the left are Select/Start respectively with the Reset over on the right.)

    2. SuperFX, does it work?

    3. Super Gameboy, does it work?

    4. Does it accept Super Famicom games?

    5. Game Genie?

    Wants:
    Starflight Starmap and Code Wheel
    Starflight II Starmap
Got these for sale or trade? PM ME!!!

AH. The screen on the unit seems to be very crisp/clear. I'll test it with more games at this month's NAVA and report back later.

I haven't noticed any major issue with the buttons there, but at least they're not in a prone location to be accidentally hit.

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Yes.

Don't know, don't own one. Will add it to my list of things to test at NAVA.

Do the built in controls still work as player 1, and the controller connected to the second port acts as player two?
Hmm ... not sure, need to test that scenario.

Since GameGenie temporarily changes the inputs the cartridge is sending and isn't based on any system hardware, I'd say its safe to assume GG will work fine on the SupaBoy.

By the way, has the system been released? Where can I find one?

Default The most amazing unplayable tower ever

    Alright, here's what you do.

You plug in an X-Band, SNES Game Genie, Super Noah's Ark 3D, Game Saver, Super Gameboy, GB Game Genie, and a Gameboy Camera.

    ???

    Profit!

Its just not laid out correctly. Your natural reflex is to press the start button with your right thumb, so if you've played a game for a long time, chances are you're gonna get frustrated quick... especially since the first thing you're going to go for is that reset button.

Perhaps it's because in recent years I've possibly played more SNES on emulators and other consoles like Wii than with actual SNES pads that where I'm PERSONALLY concerned that I completely disagree with your assessment that I'm going to get frustrated.

I've played with this thing for a while and I have had zero instances of frustration when reaching for the start button.

It may be a deal breaker for you, but not for me.

Apparently it's not fully out yet, I have one of 100 early release units sent to select Hyperkin product dealers, mine is #33. I and other people who got their hands on these are going to participate in a report on the quality/build of the product soon that may affect the final product.

It may go through some final revisions before the full commercial version hits the market, and frankly it could use some tweaking where the audio output is concerned so keep your fingers crossed that my input to Hyperkin doesn't fall on deaf ears!!

I do very little, if any, emulation. Original hardware all the way. That is probably the main reason why our opinions differ. Don't be a messin' with my button layouts! Again, stepping off of my soapbox.

I'll buy one the instant I see it on a shelf, no doubts there. Everything else about the system is excellent (and I like Hyperkin). I'll just do what I did with the original Mobile and rewire the board.
