Replace it? Seriously, not likely you can fix the drive, just try to find another dead unit or order a drive. Given what you paid for that, even a drive would still put you under par.
I found Evil Dead: Regeneration for $10. The local game outlet had it for $17 for some time, they finally marked it down.
Yesterday (the 1st), at some random thrift store in Murphy, NC:
Out Run (SMS, complete), Great Golf (SMS, box + cart), Rocky (SMS, complete) - 10¢ each (...seriously...wtf?).
Wii component cables (sealed in a plastic bag...I dunno if they're supposed to be that way, or if they were just sealed like that by the store) - 50¢.
Xbox 360 AV cables (another very odd find...and they don't look like they've been used, either) - 50¢.
Hoffman Solingen black briefcase (evidently made to hold a set of knives, but will serve me well as a laptop case for my 17" HP Pavilion dv7 Series) - $8 (kinda high, but I really wanted it).
Laser PC5 computer (w/case, manuals, and rechargeable battery, but no charger or cartridges) - $4.
Not a bad day, but I had to borrow a bit from my dad...I only had $10 on me :P .

I've never had one that I couldn't get working again.
Start here-
http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/S...isassembly.htm
Then clean like this-
http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/c..._dvd_drive.htm
I've had a couple that I couldn't get working perfect (thomson drives) but I haven't had one that I couldn't get to at least work at all. Ive done this to the Thomson drives, the Phillips drives, and the Samsung drives. The Samsungs seemed to work the best on the ones I've done. It costs as much as just buying a used xbox to buy a new drive.
Good luck!

and
Baseball (InHome Software) - R7

Warcraft II: Battle.NET - $2
I'll probably use this as a replacement to a buyer who didn't like the condition of the item I sold her. (In her defense, I listed the item with the wrong description. I just wish she hadn't threatened me with a negative from the start.)
King's Quest Collection Series:
Box is trashed, but the discs are mint and the book's all there, too. $5 after a $2 discount because I helped the booth owner set up some tables as a favor. I generally chat with her about random stuff, and saw that the guy who usually helps her didn't come in to work, so I gave her a hand. I was about to leave when I saw this box peek out from a hidden corner, and now it's mine.
I've never played the King's Quest games. Are they any good?
Today I stopped by Hastings and picked up:
Donkey Kong figure (out of a series of 5 Nintendo figures I only needed this and the Toad, still missing, to complete the set) - $8
Nintendo Power 20th Anniversary Special (a collection of tidbits about the 20th anniversary) - $10
Also, in the mail I got:
Game & Watch Collection (DS) - finally had enough points to cash in at Club.Nintendo last week
Today I got a complete NEVER BEEN OPENED Model 2 Genesis, it still has the original price sticker in the corner and I did carefully open it to verify that yes, infact, it has never been used.
The outer box is in I guess I'd say A- condition, while almost flawless there are 1 or 2 small nicks in it, but nothing that actually is noticable to any great degree.
What I paid? Nothing.
A long search finally ended yesterday. While most kids that had them cut their teeth on Commodores, TRS-80s and the like, I spent my computing time back then in front of a Tomy Tutor. (and of course Apple II's in school) I've always loved the Tomy Tutor especially for the games on the platform. However I've also always been unable to expand my collection beyond the three cartridges I've had since all those years ago. You never find this stuff in the wild, it just doesn't happen. So longer story short, a big lot was up for auction and it turns out it was a DP member selling off most of their stuff before moving.
With only ten games for the system released in the USA you'd think I would have acquired more by now. With the arrival of this package, I now have the entire USA cartridge library, as every game released was included in the package. It only took 25 years.
Tomy Tutor computer
Tomy Tutor Joy Controllers
Tomy Tutor - Car-azy Racer (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Cave Crawlers (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Deep Six (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Hyperspace (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Jungler (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Loco-Motion (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Pooyan (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Scramble (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Torpedo Terror (loose)
Tomy Tutor - Traffic Jam (loose)
Works great and I spent most of last night playing the games, nice that it has native composite video and audio output - or the good old RF. The computer, Joy Controllers, Jungler, Loco-Motion and Traffic Jam cartridges are all duplicates so I'll more than likely be putting them up for sale here as a lot soon. (or for trade for Japanese Pyuuta stuff)
Now that I have them all I can continue to expand my Tomy Tutor column at RTM. Honestly I felt like a kid in a candy store when I was unpacking the cartridges - awesome to finally have them all.

Weird about the Tomy Tutor, I was just wondering what it was all about.
I guess it will just go under the column of game stuff I want but will never get, unless I get lucky on eBay or something.
I found a Nuby Street Fighter PS2 controller for $5 at the local used game outlet. I have a USB adaptor for PC and my stock PS1 controller is good f rmost games but not Sega emulation.
Checked on Amazon. Most Nuby SF2 PS2 controlelrs would cost me about $15 plus shipping, except for mine. No, I got the Akuma controller, which Amazon's ripoff artists want $40 for.
Very nice InsaneDavid. I can't really find any info or pictures on the games but it looks like it has some nice arcade classics like Pooyan and Scramble. You should make some of videos of the gameplay. I'd be interested in seeing the games. I can't currently find any one youtube.
