Default Nintendo World Championships to be on Pawn Stars

    Hey every one.
I'm not sure if this was posted recently, but for anyone who doesn't know,
Pat the NES Punk (my cousin) has brought his Gold NWC to Pawn Stars for filming, and it will premiere Monday night.

I thought it was cool at first, but the more I thought about it, the more of a bad idea it became. I think it's a bad idea because it will turn on many people who don't even love or collect video games to buy all the games they see in hopes they're valuable. It makes our collecting and finds harder.

    Thoughts?

Corey will just brush it off as old crap like he does every time an old game or system goes there.

If it drives up costs for some things, then fine, itll make the bubble burst even quicker.

Its always Corey and Chum who handle stuff like this. I guess they could call the toy store guy....maybe, but theres never been a video game expert come in. Maybe theyll introduce a new character and have more games be featured?

One time though the Old Man was with Chum when a TMNT comic book collection came in, Old Man was raving about how weird it was and an episode on after it he said "kids nowadays have no imagination"......

I don't like it when the stupidity of reality television gets involved in things I am interested in.

    Hiss.

I think I can see the logic in his decision. He probably wants to counter the NES-001 idiot and show that gaming shit CAN be worth money. However, for all the reasons mentioned before and for the fact that he's CARRYING AROUND A REAL NWC GOLD OUT IN THE OPEN, it doesn't look like it'll work out so well.

I highly doubt he's stupid enough to actually sell it to them. Him and I don't talk, so I don't know what came of it.

Agreed, although, of all the various pawn shows, Pawn Stars tends to be fairly interesting when they get into the history of a particular item, ala Antiques Roadshow. Not like that Hardcore Pawn (which is about an old man that needs to be punched in the face and his kids that were't loved enough when they were little) and Storage Wars (which is about fat people pulling random numbers out of their collective asses).

I think it would be interesting to watch, but I too think it could create even more collectors and re-sellers out of people. Its been harder to find good deals ever since values of old games have been publicised such as the Red Sea Crossing, the sealed Stadium Events, and so forth. I think the "bubble will burst" eventually too, but I'd say its going to continue to climb for a while before that happens.

I'm sure they will have a pathetic offer for him. Just like they did when someone brought in the old arcade games and virtual boy. It'll be interesting to see what offer they do give him. I think he'd be a fool to sell it, maybe pawn it...so if I had to guess Pat still has his hands on it.

So I guess this does confirm that this show is pretty scripted. If you have to make an appointment to bring your valuable item in for filming and "haggling" with them, then I'm pretty sure they've already got the whole thing planned out for what'll happen.

I can't imagine Pat selling something like that to them, since they'll only give you about 50-60% of the price he could get if he sold it himself which he obviously knows how to do. I can only guess it's a PR stunt for both parties involved.

Agreed, this is a joke. I seriously doubt Pat has any intention AT ALL of selling this. Is it just so HE can be on TV?

As mentioned, just more proof that these reality shows are anything but.

I am thinking regardless if it "sells" or not he walks out with his game intact.. I think its just a scripted job as a promotional stunt to lure more people in.
