alright on my next few days off I think I am going to try this mod. I found one of my old yellowed SNESs that I had painted and then gave up on when I accidentally grabbed the glitter spray instead of the clear coat so its pretty gay looking now.
since I painted it I don't know what serial number it is but the board is a SNS-CPU-GPM-02 with a S-ENC encoder chip (no A or B just straight up S-ENC)
alright I wrote all this out once before then the forums crapped on me so i'll try it again.
after looking into that mention of the native component that some of the older SNESs have I looked into the mod and decided to give it a whirl
I was wondering if any one had any tips to this in regards of filters, amps ect.
It seems to me its a case by case basis on if it needs an amp or not but some times I notice that some of the other mods people are doing have a lot of interference.
but I also notice the ones having problems with interference picked some really odd spots to ground the whole set up
this board also has Sony DSPs which I get a lot of people saying these are preferable to others in terms of sound
the mods straight forward but I was wondering if any one has any tips on amps, inline resistors or any thing else I should do.
I've seen some S-ENC wired directly to RCAs and other where people has to stick an amp in some/all
idealy i'd like to be able to design a PCB to bolt in with all the components including RCA jacks at the back and only have a short jumper to the encoder chip it self.
i'll probably work on it on my next days off since I don't have any money right not really so I have time to plan the initial step of it and see how well it works.
a side question....
what rating Is the electrolytic cap just above the reset switch?
I can see that its 220uF but I cant tell the voltage because the top is where it got cut off and on the bottom is right at the divet and I cant see in there to get the voltage.
the reason I ask is because its a bit domed and I figure I might as well replace it while I am in here.
