No, I'm right there with you, Scorch.
This Roadshow's been a tad disappointing. :/

On another topic.. hmm.. 73 posts; over a THOUSAND views; and no more than a half dozen answers. I'm beginning to think this idea's a "wash".. but I felt I couldn't make that statement if I didn't at least try to give one answer.
We might have to put an official team on this. Maybe we could add it as a job....Evaluator or something like that?

Or possibly split it up into multiple threads...divided up by age of console or by company...or by type of item (i.e. software, accessory, console) ;)

I didn't want to be the first to say it but I thought that the items would get burried and be less likely to get valued by more than one person or at all. I think that you do need teams. Jobs to people who specialize in those systems. TG16, Genesis, SNES, GB, etc, just likeyou have teams that do this for the Rarity Guide. I would be more than willing to be on a team for Vectrex or SNES.

Ok, I hate to do it but my first real post (aside from my intro) is going to be a value question. I hope nobody blasts me for it. Oh well...
I know someone that is looking to sell a gold factory-sealed NES Zelda 2: Adventures of Link cart. That's one of my favorite games and has a lot of nostalgic value to me so I'm thinking of buying it. It seems to be in mint condition without any flaws that I noticed. What is a reasonable figure to pay for something like that?

Are these fair deals?
Dead or Alive 2 $55
Shenmue Limited Edition $30
Shenmue 2 $75
Virtua Fighter 3tb $35
Street Fighter Alpha 3 $70
Outrigger $20
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 $85
Mortal Kombat Gold $10

That's too high if you're talking about the PAL DC version - they're pretty easy to find for under £20 (~$36) on eBay UK.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it.. but I've seen it go for twice as much on evilBay.. on a good day. You did say it was a "gold" one so I'm assuming you mean it's a "greatest hits" version (I don't remember what Nintendo called those kind of games back in SNES days.. the one with the gold ribbons on front?).
If you were talking about an original release.. that'd be different.. much more.

Actually, I meant that the cartridge itself is gold in color, not grey. I believe the gold one was the original release but the grey one is more rare.

Aw crap! Forget everything I said.. I wasn't paying attention.. I was thinking about the SNES Zelda game. Of course.. your talking about the NES game <slaps head>. In that case.. grey cart (I have grey) or gold.. if it's sealed it's worth more than what I said.. but if you want an expert's opinion.. PM Bronty-2 .. he's the expert on sealed NES games. As to rarity.. I'd say it's a toss up. People debate over that sort of thing. I have a "Yellow-box" version of Metroid and I believe it's more rare than the original one (you hardly ever see that) but I can always find someone who would argue the point.

Had these questions get lost in the shuffle, so I'll repost them:
I was wondering what my National Semiconductor Adversary was going for these days.
It's plays fine and is in minty shape.
Here's a pic of one (not mine):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v163/Damaramu/ns.jpg
ALSO:
I'm in "negotiations" to buy a Virtual Boy lot from a co-worker, who does not collect videogames. Included in the lot:
Virtual Boy (with box; no inner packing)
Mario Tennis (CIB!)
Wario Land (CIB)
Panic Bomber (CIB)
Jack Bros. (loose)
Mario Clash (CIB)
Telero Boxer (CIB)
Galactic Pinball (CIB)
T & E Golf (JPN, CIB)
Nester's Funky Bowling (CIB)
Red Alarm (CIB)
Vertical Force (JPN, CIB)
Virtual Pro Yakyuu '95 (JPN, CIB)
I think he's gonna check Ebay prices to see what to charge. What should I pay? How high or low should I go?
Thanks guys!

I'd say between about 60 and 90 bucks depending on the comdition. Closer to 90 if totally mint.

Alright here's the situation I've recently started working at a local game store here in Eastern Iowa, Video Games Etc. And have been going through the boxes in the backroom and they have a ton of empty boxes from Genesis, SNES, NES, etc. and tons of other orphaned stuff. I talked to my manager and asked if I could try and sell them on here instead of just throwing them away. He let me bring home a box of Genesis case inserts to go through(currently working on typing up a list). He said to get some idea of what they would sell for and we might be able to work something out. Now I know Genesis stuff is fairly cheap, but there is some really good SNES and NES stuff still at the store. So basically what i need from you guys who are interested let me know what these might go for, an average price so I can tell him and work out a deal. Thanks for all your help, guys!

It has everything to do with the game and condition. I cannot speak for anything other than SNES but most sports games would not get more than a dollar or so a piece for the manual or box. There are a few games that would warrant more than 2-5 bucks for either for non-sports games. RPGs could gather as much as 10 bucks a piece for a box and possibly 5 bucks for a manual. There are some games that could gather a lot more like Earthbound, Exertainment Speed Racer, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, Metal Warriors, Metal Marines, Harvest Moon, Dracula X, EVO and maybe one or two others, which could go for as much as 15 or 20 for the box and 10 for the manual. These are the maximum amount that you could get selling them on Ebay.

Hi everyone, I am a new member here and I hope this is the right place to ask my question.
I was actually directed here from the shmups.com forum, because today a curious item came into my possession.
What I have is a Nintendo Ultra hand, from what I gather it is complete and boxed.
Here is a picture I took of it:

I'm just wondering what it's worth, since I will most likely sell it off soon.
Thanks for your help.

Greetings Programs.
This cart switcher was in the original Sega Genesis store displays. It plugs into the expansion connector and a cart with a cable pops in the cart slot.
Any momentary contact switch will cause it to switch to the next cart and do a reset.
I was offered $200 for this a couple years back and turned it down.

Not trying to be a dick (and not caring If I come across as one), but there are a lot of people posting stuff here pointlessly (in my opinion).
For anything not massively rare, unique, or in a lot you'd be better off searching eBay's completed auctions.
It would be quicker and you'll get a nice accurate answer.

Didn't see anything up on eBay at the moment on these two. Are the values fair? My sealed game knowledge pales in comparison to my CIB/MIB/Loose game knowledge so I'm seeking some assistance.
SNES - Super Valis IV Sealed, they're asking $24.95
SNES - Pocky and Rocky Sealed, they're asking $39.95
I doubt I'd be ripped off if I bought either but a fair estimate on both would be nice.
Thanks!

Sealed Heart of the Alien for Sega CD

Thanks :D
Sega CD games tend to be fairly common sealed and Heart is no exception. But, I'd wager that $40 - $50 would be what it might fetch on eBay which would be double what it's selling for (between $20.00 - $25.00).

What would you guys say a CIB FLintstones:Surprise and dino peak is worth?
Cart-Mint
Manual-Mint
Box-Near mint
thanks
I'd imagine it to be worth in the $275-$325 range... A cart + manual copy recently sold for $218 shipped...

A used mint condition copy of Street Fighter Alpha 3 for $29.99...Is that a fair price?
I don't think I dropped all that much for it, but DC fighters tend to command a decent amount. I'd guess between 20-30 for a copy, though the Street Fighter III stuff is in a much greater demand than Alpha 3.

A few quick replies:
Does a VHS promo for Street Fighter 2 Turbo have much if any value? What if it's sealed?
The VHS promos hold their value only if you can find someone looking for them. If you can, expect to get $10-25 for it. If you can't, you'll be lucky to get a dollar. I every once in a while get neat promo tapes, and unless a collector that collects specifically for that system or series comes along, they don't sell.
Being Street Fighter 2 Turbo, I think you are *more likely* to sell it higher if you want, but that is in no way a guarantee.
This cart switcher was in the original Sega Genesis store displays. It plugs into the expansion connector and a cart with a cable pops in the cart slot.
Same deal as the above, in my opinion. On some days, you'll be able to find someone who will pay probably up to $300ish for it. On other days no one would care about it. Because this isn't the "display" portion of the kiosk, people probably wouldn't care as much (by itself, it isn't that overly useful). A big time Genesis collector though would probably be extremely happy to get it, and might offer even more than my $300 guess above.
By comparison, I have one of the Innoventions lab coats that was used to promote the Dreamcast in 1999 with a large Sonic embriodered on the back of it. Since Epcot Center was the first place I got to see and play a Dreamcast for any real length of time and was where I first fell in love with the console, I would have probably paid $250 for this particular rarity. I've never seen another, and I think it is one of the coolest pieces I could have in my collection.
The week I was bidding on it, I got it extremely cheap. Under $20.00 with shipping. I've since been offered by another Dreamcast collector over $250 for it.
With rare oddities, it is often much harder to find the market than anything else.
And as for everyone asking about relatively common stuff or what a good price for a lot is, you can do your own research on that stuff. This thread won't work unless the stuff in it is rarer / more random like the above items. While I love this idea and will try to keep contributing to it, I have no interest in pricing out other people's lot purchases.

So is anybody able to give an appraisal for a complete and boxed Nintendo Ultra Hand?
I haven't been able to find one on eBay, current or completed.
Thanks...

Thanks!
A lot of people ask what the value of a sealed game is and while I don't collect sealed games I can offer one piece of advice. First, find out what it goes for complete. Then, find out it popularity, availability, and rarity. You can try to make a judgement from there.
There is currently one Super Valis complete on Ebay and the starting bid is .99 but I see it going up to about 10 bucks. In this case I thing that 25 bucks is a fair price but not a steal.
Right now there is one complete copy of Pocky and Rocky on Ebay and its currently going for 31.50. I see that going maybe to 35. I don't think that you would pay much more for this game but I do think that you could pay a lot less. Seem to me that there is some heated bidding going on. But sealed for 40 sounds pretty good.
If you plan on keeping them, I'd say get them. But if your trying to make money off them by reselling them, I think that you should just let someone else grab them.
Is it a local seller or do you have to pay for shipping?

Had these questions get lost in the shuffle, so I'll repost them:
I was wondering what my National Semiconductor Adversary was going for these days.
It's plays fine and is in minty shape.

Hi,
a guy at my work has a disused NEO GEO AES machine with two games: fatal fury and ninja combat. it's got one arcade stick style controller, and no box.
i'm not really looking to build my collection outside of NES right now, but since NEO GEO usually holds it's value i'm considering buying this just to play around, see if i can get into the scene, and if i'm not feeling it i can turn the console over to the rest of the collecting community for what i paid or maybe a little profit.
what should i offer him? he's seen some on ebay, and knows they're fairly pricey, but maybe he's even expecting more than it's worth from what he's seen.
what do i look for in NEO GEO machines? i read something about low serials? is that because of BIOS changes, or just for elite 'low serial status'?
thanks!
dan.

Alrght, my local rental place has a bunch of N64 sports games for 2 bucks a pop. They are in ratty boxes, few have instructions, and the carts have stickers on them. 2 Tony Hawk titles, plus other various NBA and NFL games. Is $2 a piece worth it?

$2 is worth it if you can sell it for $4 later isnt it?

I've been having a conflict lately. I have a bunch of great PSX games that I'm simply not playing because they are mostly RPG's and I don't really have the time or will to plunk down 40+ hours into a game anymore.
I have however been playing a lot more action and sports, racing, FPS games, and open ended games where you can progress at your own rate.
I've been wondering lately if I should just trade off all my PSX RPG's to beef up my current gen collection and get games that I'd probably play more.
Here is an idea of what I'm thinking of getting rid of:
Suikoden CIB
Suikoden II no manual
Brave Fencer Musashi CIB
Breath of Fire III CIB
Breath of Fire IV CIB
Kartia disc
Lunar Silver Star CIB
Lunar Eternal Blue CIB
Legend of Dragoon CIB
FF Tactics CIB
Arc the Lad Collection CIB
Alundra CIB
Vanguard Bandits CIB
Vandal Hearts CIB
Xenogears CIB
Saga Frontier II disc
Star Ocean CIB
Mainly what I'm wondering is not what I should do (I know only I can decide that), but how much do you think those games would be worth as trade bait towards GCN, GBA, DS and 360 games, mainly first party titles with the Nintendo systems, everything on the 360 and some of the more common action games (MGS 3, DMC, GoW etc.) on the PS2 and a *few* of the rarer RPG's like the Shin Megami titles.

I think he'd have trouble getting even $4 for old sports games. He might take the THPS games just to have them in the collection.

Sorry I don't have pics right now. I have a store display piece for the Sega Saturn game Nights into Dreams.
The display is about 3ft x 4 ft x 8in. It's a huge metal box with fluorescent lighting inside, on both side panes is a huge 3-d holographic add for Nights. It looks great when you plug it in and turn on the light.
I really hate to get rid of it, but need the cash and space. Any idea what it's worth?

If the silent assault is the black cart then it could bring up to $80 (maybe more?), being as it is complete and in its original box. If it is the blue cart, i'd say right around $20-25, since it has never been played. All the other sealed NES games are fairly common. I'm sure some would sell for around $30 and above, while the others would hang out around the 10-15 range.
The uforce... if it is brand new it could bring around $30-40... if it is just complete and opened and mint, probably around $10 bucks. As cool and unique as a u-force is, it usually doesn't bring in the bucks.
As for SMS games... I know nothing about them.
In my opinion, finding sealed games in the wild is excellent! Good haul

yeah, it was one of those "i'll go in there one of these days" type situations. finally went in.
over the top nice- he sold them to me at 3 bucks a piece. I bought one set of each today, but im going back to buy the other multiple copies (3 copies on average). His reasoning was he wanted to make room for new stuff.
I had an idea about the nes games, but still no clue on the sms games.

The SMS stuff, depending on which country you live in, is either shrinked or 'sealed' with a sega sticker.
The shrinked (usually US releases), are generally as a rule worth more. Sealed SMS games are a quiet market, very niche, at least right now. I foresee them going up in value as collecting becomes even more mainstream in the coming years. A sealed spellcaster is nice!

Oh, and I've had some sealed SMS games where the retailer removed the hang-tab, check that one out.
The guides down, but I had a friend tell me my wonderswan (b&w) was r3 12$.
That seems a little bit low to me, what do other people think?

I recent got two mint Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons carts and realized they are the "Not For Resale" versions. Are these worth more than the standard carts?
