Because of the recent influx of price-checks and value-requests, we felt that, many times, questioners weren't getting the answers they needed because their posts were buried or pushed off the forum before someone with the answers found their request. Well, with this new DP Antiques Roadshow thread, all of those "floating" value checks can be found in one convenient area.

Post here to request a price check on that new game you found; to check on the value of some bizarre nicknack; or to request help in assessing the value of your collection (or parts of it).

And if you have an inkling of game values, stop in and assist these folks with your knowledge! No more lost price checks! And the folks-in-the-know will know where to go!

(Of course, price checks posted outside of this thread will be moved, locked, and/or deleted, just to keep things tidy.)

Three things. First thing is
a gem mint white game gear official japanese bundle complete with case, tv tuner. Everything is in great shape and it was sold as a bundle

Second thing is
a pretty good condition (considering the age and the item) of a stand up original gameboy display demo unit with a NFR cart of the original tetris. This is the unit that was shaped like the gameboy with a monitor built inside the casing and the gameboy was locked in. (managed to get this from a local game store for an incredible deal few months ago :)

third thing is a bit odd, probably not worth much and I have no idea where it is from. It is 2 page paper "ad" advertising for earthbound for the SNES. It appears it may have been mailed out specifically to people signed up for some sort of list (perhaps through nintendo power). It also has a coupon for $10 off earthbound attached to the second page (coupon is untouched, still attacked). Paper is in great shape, unfolded and no tears. it appears it was not inside a magazine or anything ever, but as stated just a 2 page pamphlet mailed out.

thanks for any help

I have a few questions.
Lufia II cart only 49.99
Final Fantasy III cart only- 49.99
Mega Man 7 cart only -49.99
Gunstar heroes cart only- 59.99
Thats what the store is selling them for. Should I continue to look around? That seems high for loose carts.

In stores I've seen the average price to be around 59.99 to 79.99. And the 79.99 was with 2 dogbones and a game.

Definately pass on the Gunstar Heroes. I picked up a complete copy for 20 at a local gamestore that uses the Digitpress rarity guide to base all there retro stuff on.

Keep looking on all those carts. If you REALLY want Lufia 2, that is not the worst price ever, but by no means is it a good price. Perhaps, as they have these games overpriced, that they will give high trade in and try trading some items in towards them. Do not pay that much cash for any of those though, except, as stated, possibly Lufia 2 (worth less than $40 cart only, but is somewhat harder to find).

Pass on them all. Way overmarked. I also find it funny that they price a genny game higher than the snes games. I rarely ever see that.

Anyway, I'll try to check the thread for Nintendo related games/systems since thats what I know best.

I reccomend that for very rare items that people post pics to guage condition, especially for boxes, instructions, things like that. It's very difficult to guage certain rarities without pics.

Wondering if anybody knows about Pinball machines? I'm picking up a 1978 Elvis Presly Alive Pinball Machine for $150. It's in really good condition. Might need to fix it up a little but not much. I know very little about Pinball machines but I want one and this is the only one I can find locally. When I get tired of it I'd like to trade it for an arcade machine. Just wondering if it will be possible.

Hi guys, was going to make a thread on this when I saw the posting that requested that these be made here. :)

Just yesterday while going trhough my storage stuff I found my Final Fantasy Mystic Quest guide. I'm thinking these might be rare these days. The book is in great shape, only minor damage.

This is a paperback book made directly by Squaresoft at the same time that FF Mystic Quest came out. When you bought the game (at least at new release time) the game came with a card saying that if you filled out the card and sent it in (along with, I believe, a couple bucks for S&H) they would send you the guide.

I did a search on EBay and Amazon, both for current and past listings, and found nothing. (I located the Japanese version, the game was called Final Fantasy USA in Japan, but nothing for the US one).

Anyone know what this is worth?

Also, if anyone would like it, please send me a PM. :)

Right now, I don't have my digital camera. The only damage I see to the book is a few black marks on the front cover, toward the left bottom corner, and a couple of wrinkles in the spine and some page corners. The book has been in storage for years so it's quite good....but it's just paper so it's not as solid as a modern day guide, mind you. :)

definitely pass on the Gunstar Heroes. I picked up a complete copy for 20 at a local gamestore that uses the Digitpress rarity guide to base all there retro stuff on.

Agreed...$59.99 is highway robbery. :/ In general, I don't pay more than $5 for a game so I acquire the rare titles little by little. Still, it's pretty sweet when you can pick up a minty Shining Force II for $5CAN. :D

How did you find it? I checked past completed auctions on EBay as far back as it would go and could'nt locate anything.

$48....not bad, okay, now I know what a resonable value for it is. :)

Did you find any others?

As with most NES accessories, there tends to be a lack in demand. When there is interest, they usually sell for 10-20 a piece, sometimes a bit more.

Is anyone able to give an estimate on the official NES game/accessory holder and official NES traveling case pictured here? Thanks.

The traveling case is worth no more than $5. The game/accessory holder usually goes for around $10, sometimes more. I'd estimate at around $10-30, depending on interest. These prices exclude shipping of course ;) If you're interested in the official names of those two accessories for selling purposes, they are Nintendo System Game Pak Carrying Case and A.L.S. Industries Nintendo Entertainment System Cabinet, respectively. Hope this helps ;)

I also have a price question of my own...what do you guys think a brand new PAL Miracle Piano for NES is worth (NES/PC combo)?

Thanks. I was just wondering about them, nothing else. Don't plan on selling them unless I find duplicates, but thanks for telling me the names. And in case you care, I just found them at a garage sale along with 32 games for $25, so I definitely know I got a good deal.

Those black NES controllers that come with the NES Sharp TV combo unit are very hard to come by. I wouldn't lump them with other NES accessories. $15-20 sounds about right. Maybe more, especially if someone needs it to complete their unit.

For the poster with the Mystic Quest guide... It's a mixed bag as to how much that goes for. There was a period not so long ago (4-6 months ago, I think) when 5 or 6 of them ended in the $15 range, and there were a couple auctions back in '03 or '04 that ended in the $130 range. Personally, I'd estimate its value closer to $25-$30.

My item to be appraised: a factory-sealed Frogger II for the Atari 5200...

They were all developed by Epyx, but I don't think Epyx had anything to do with the publishing of either copy. I'm not an expert on proto prices, but given the recent rates of $100-200 per proto, I'd assume yours would be valued at the higher end of that.

That's got to be absolutely incorrect.

You are probably thinking of a Stern Elvis from a few years ago selling for about $4000. That makes some sense.

The old Alive game (with Elvis on the backglass) is a turd. It's one of a few "home models" that saw production in the late 70s. The home models are smaller, cheaper, and much less valuable than arcade pinball machines. It's definitely worth no more than $100-$150 in nice shape and working. If you plan to trade it for an arcade game later on, you'll have a very difficult time. Honestly, I don't think it's worth even bothering with.

Ok here are a few.

Pre 9/11 Spiderman 2 - PS1 - This has the orginal game content before it was stopped during production in order to change some levels after Sep 11. This version never hit the shelf. It is a disc only and has the same disc art as the regular release.

Sonic Adventure Limited Edition - Dreamcast - Mint but no instructions.

$30-40ish. If you have the case that it came in (missing instructions) it would probably be worth another $10 or so. I have one that I have had up for sale for a little while on a different site for $40 disc only but I don't have any takers... yet.

The version with the box and instructions is worth quite a bit more, as the game saw VERY limited distribution with the box. The disc-only version is about five times more common than the 'complete' version.

This is a coincidence. I've been offline for about two weeks due to personal problems; and also a major OS crash (Had to reformat and re-install.. we've all been there.). My personal problem is quickly developing into a "nightmare". Thank God I'm not in trouble with the law or had a "long lost" offspring come knocking at my door (nothing quite that serious); but having said that.. I'm coming to the realization that NOW is the time for me to unload my collection. I need cash to get on my feet and get a "home" of my own.. and soon (My current "plight" is explained in the thread Pico started a few weeks ago in the OT forum about people living with their parents.. for anyone interested.).

Last night before I dropped back in I was thinking about asking for your guys help but I couldn't figure out where to post exactly.. and then I see the sticky today.. weird.

I know the best way to make "top dollar" for my collection would be to split it up in various ways, and sell it on evilBay, but quite frankly, right now I'm afraid I have neither the time nor the ambition. So.. what I need to know is.. how much would.. or should.. I expect to get/ask for the entire lot on eB? My current count for games is at 765 and a list of them can be found at the bottom.. in my sig. I apologize for the crappy-assed IGN "new" format. Should one decide to look at it you'll be forced to wait awhile (on dial-up anyways) as all the frickin' box art loads up. IGN has not yet given owners/editors a way to lock-in options for public lists. I can get rid of the box art for myself.. but not others.. go figure. If you also click on the "show public notes" link you'll be able to see individual conditions; and notice that 95+% of these games are complete. No REAL "rares" or oddities.. but many of them are HTF or "popular" as in wanted.. and NO sports games.

It would be too lengthy to post them all in this thread so the link will have to do. One last thing.. out of ALL of these games.. I believe only one or two are GH versions (where applicable); and they are noted as such.

My peripherals are too many to list as well. I have memory cards for all the various systems that had them and NONE are 3rd party ones. All of my controllers are 1st party stuff. If a system has a remote (as in PS2 or Xbox) I have the genuine ones as well. Any system that had a mouse (as in SNES, GENS, CD-I, 3DO, PSX).. I have as well.. all 1st party ones. I have a Pocketstation. I have IR OR radio remote controllers for the systems that had them (NES, GENS, SNES, PSX, Saturn, GCN, PS2 and Xbox). In the case where there were 1st party ones (GENS and Saturn) they are.. where there weren't; they are most like Akklaim or DOCs controllers. I have a Wavebird for the GCN, two AirStyles for the PS2, and two Wideyes for the Xbox. Notable novelty controllers/joysticks of note are a PSX twin-analog joystick, a Saturn twinstick and of course.. the Steel Battalion controller for Xbox. Other things that come to mind are a DK64 Nintendo Power controller; a RE4 GCN chainsaw controller (unopened); a black (matches my GCN and GBA player) HORI controller (unopened) for the GBA player, a NubyTech Shadow the Hedgehog PS2 controller and a NubyTech Mega Man GCN controller (both new). A Drogon Quest VIII blue slime controller, unopened. I have guns for all systems that had them (including a 3DO gamegun and a black JAP Virtua Gun/Stunner for the Saturns). I EVEN have black & white Sony memory cards and digital controllers for the PSX (to match the PS2 and my PSOne.. of course!).

That's about all I can think of that's notable right now. I'm sure there's more that I haven't thought of (I have yet to make a comprehensive list; but I'm working on it).

I apologize for the long read guys.. but this is a serious inquiry. I certainly don't expect anyone to do all the leg work for me and add up individual prices either.. obviously. I need some serious ballpark estimates for what one thinks this lot would go for on evilBay. Should I have a reserve AND a BIN? for how much? I can't simply start a lot auction at 99 cents though.. because I have invested much money and time amassing all of this and can't risk taking that kind of chance. So I need good, solid, honest opinions. How much? and HOW.. to list it.

I know the IGN quote for value for the games is a bit much. When IGN changed their lists format about 6 months ago.. my value doubled overnight! While I thought $13,000 was a bit low.. I'm also certain $30,000 is a bit much. Please bear in mind though the "completeness" of most of them.

My heartfelt thanks go out to anyone who can help me out here.. but please no "I think you should sell it all to me for $500!" type posts. This is a serious situation for me.. regretable.. but inevitable. $2500 would get me out of debt; and I'm figuring that another $7500 to $10,000 would get me a fairly decent 26' to 30' used travel trailer and a pick-up to haul it with. Then I'd be free to get the fuck outta' Dodge and start a life of my own (Oh gawd.. how I NEED that). Anything else beyond that would be icing on the cake and maybe help me settle, or furnish the trailer (I need a nice TV). The time is now.. and I really need to do this.

ANY honest, qualified advice would be appreciated. I basically need to know if it's even "do-able".. or a pipe dream. Thanks all.

BTW.. you can sort the IGN game list, by platform, by clicking on the appropriate column heading.. makes things a little easier. ;)

This Xbox cord shown HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=89752). Mine has Xbox printed on the top of it, so I know it is official. What is it exactly?

Also, how about the FF: Mystic Quest, Breath of Fire, and FFIII Ogopogo Examiner mini-magazines in average condition?

Not sure if anyone thinks this should be here as it is a non electronic handheld but here goes:

It is a Tomy Pocket Arcade called Attack in Space. It is a handheld game which you wind up and your missle moves along the bottom of the screen. When it is aimed at an alien you press fire and if you hit the alien just right it explodes. Cool game since it doesn't use batteries but a wind up mechanism. A picture of it is below:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/susan.metcalfe3/Attack-in-space.jpg

I have googled it and only found two website that mention it but they have little or no imformation as to how rare it is, it's origins or its value.

I was watching that one too but thought that it was a little on the high side. I thought that it would land around 65 myself but have never tracked them or seen one sold privately.

Hi all,
I picked up an unliscensed Genesis game today. It is made by Realtec and it is a 2 in 1. The title is Funny World and Balloon Boy. It is complete with box and instructions. Any idea of its worth?

Funny World/Balloon Boy isn't worth much at all. I picked up three of them in the same place. Just your standard cheap Genesis game from what I've seen.

Hey i figured you guys could help me out with this, ive been wondering this for a long time. About two years ago i bought a vectrex system at a yard sale for 5 dollars. It was in its original box, with all manuals in mint condition, ant with 8 boxed games with all of thier overlay screens and booklets. I heard vectrex systems were somewhat rare, the thing is a blast to play. But if i would ever need to sell it id like to have a price range in mind that i could get for it. If anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Before the release of RE4 on the PS2 Capcom offered up a package limited to, I think 200 (maybe 500), but in any case a really limited run. It came with an action figure, t-shirt, the game, a cd box set of music from the games, etc.

Does anyone remember this?

I'm moving and selling lots of stuff and that was going to be one of the things. I was going to put in on ebay or offer it to anyone here who is interested. Unfortunately I have no idea what it's worth. Everything is new except the game which is mint but played, nothing else was opened. I think it was $120 when new though I dont remember exactly. If anyone has seen these for sale and has an idea on value please let me know. Or even better if anyones interested make me an offer, I can provide pics.

Thanks

The vectrex has a very good value. The system can go any where from 40-80 dollars on Ebay, closer to 80 or more if it has a box to it. Without knowing the games, I can only say that most of the common Vectrex games like Scramble, Web Wars, Star Trek, Blitz, Armor Attack, and most of the others go for around 15-25 dollars, closer to 20 most times. Pole Position can go between 30 and 40 boxed but the really money comes from Star Castle and Polar Rescue which usually go for 80 and way up. You didn't mention that it had a second controler, so I'm assuming it didn't but controlers go for about 40 on up and a lot more if they have the box. All together 5 bucks was a steal. And would turn you a good 100-160 profit if they were sold as a lot of Ebay.

I'm in "negotiations" to buy a Virtual Boy lot from a co-worker, who does not collect videogames. Included in the lot:

Virtual Boy (with box; no inner packing)

Mario Tennis (CIB!)
Wario Land (CIB)
Panic Bomber (CIB)
Jack Bros. (loose)
Mario Clash (CIB)
Telero Boxer (CIB)
Galactic Pinball (CIB)
T & E Golf (JPN, CIB)
Nester's Funky Bowling (CIB)
Red Alarm (CIB)
Vertical Force (JPN, CIB)
Virtual Pro Yakyuu '95 (JPN, CIB)

I think he's gonna check Ebay prices to see what to charge. What should I pay? How high or low should I go?

Thanks guys!

How much would a SEGA CDX be worth? No box.

scorch56
08-01-2006, 02:28 AM
An unboxed CDX can go for anywhere's from $75 to $125 on eBay (on a good day) depending on it's condition. I recently paid around $125 for one in pristine condition unboxed; came with two of the 6-button controllers (6 btns are what they were sold with I believe), an original matching AC adapter and the official CDX branded carrying bag.

On another topic.. hmm.. 73 posts; over a THOUSAND views; and no more than a half dozen answers. I'm beginning to think this idea's a "wash".. but I felt I couldn't make that statement if I didn't at least try to give one answer.

I'm not really qualified to give estimates though (except for some eB prices).. which is why I asked for one myself (still unanswered I might add).
