i was happy that the silent hill text gameboy game came into my work today.
... no offense... but that looks like a bootleg to me. The colors are all weird.
Did you check the cart to see if it's got the Nintendo logo stamped next to the connectors?

Braved the rain out at the flea market today. Came away with a boxed and complete Bally Arcade console with ten loose cartridges for $40. I don't know if it works yet. Considering the failure rate of these things over the years, it wouldn't surprise me if it was dead.
Also picked up a Entex PacMan 2 handheld, still with it's battery doors! $8.

I got a few things at the flea market today:
PS1 Threads of Fate (complete!) $5 :) <-- this thing was sitting around common NES games with $10 price tags on them and other overpriced game stuff!
PS1 (just the cases and manuals) WWF Smackdown 2 and Battle Arena Toshinden $1 (Anybody need these cases?, also Battle Arena Toshinden has "Not for Resale" on it, is that anything special?)
PS1 Criticom longbox version complete $3 (the part were one of the joints are on the front of the case is broken! Does anybody know where I can find replacement parts for longbox games?)
GB Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters $3
Dungeon Siege and Diablo for $1 apiece (this is the 2nd copy of Diablo I've found for $1 :) Yep, I'm finding a copy for each of my friends)
Some sort of disc with 2 episodes of an anime show called "Fruits Basket" with a "bonus" sneak preview for Dragon Ball GT $1
and a drumroll please....
MST3K The Brain That Wouldn't Die VHS $1
The funny thing about the MST3K vhs is that I bought the dvd version of that same episode off ebay a week or 2 ago, but I've been to this flea market at least a dozen times and never seen MST3K stuff, so I thought I'd buy it. Anyway, I got my friends addicted to MST3K so it'll probably end up a birthday gift. :)
some things I passed up:
a gold NES in the original box for $30 (literally GOLD from discoloration, it was nasty!)
a cd case with just part two of Pink Floyd's The Wall, didn't ask price
Planscape: Torment for $2, I know it's a good game but I have too much stuff already and I'll probably find it cheaper later.
Just discs 3 and 4 of Final Fantasy VII for $3
and other stuff.

I picked up some Nintendo Tips book (Nintendo Game Secrets) for 53 cents at goodwill. There's really nothing there anymore, just a pile of $7 educational disc-only PC games thats steadily rising. There was a sweet wooden shelf that would be the perfect size for a large 2600 collection but it was $8. I'm not paying $8 for something I could find at the curb :(
My goodwill has next to nothing. Usually everything is extremly overpriced and half broken. I did see a psx FFVIII there for 4.99 but alas the discs and manual were missing :( I did get the complete Charmed Season 1 DVD for $6 today, not really my thing but I'll maybe watch it then trade it in at the local game/movie trader and get some sweet sweet credit.
Everytime I go by GW I think NAH its a waste of time, but then I remember the CIB Sega CD Lunar I and II that I got there and stop anyway.

Not much this week as there was not many sales to attend and I went out late due to work.
Got N64 Game Shark for 50 cents. I had one long ago, but I could never get it to work. After reading up about it and learning about keycodes, this one worked.
NES Indiana Jones for 50 cents for a friend. Passed up a lot of NES games for 50 cents as I either had or did not want them.
Bought about 14 or so decent CDs for 50 cents. A few at $1.00 as well.

I went out for the first time in a while today and yesterday and got some stuff:
Yesterday I went to a bunch of game stores in the city (and garage sales that I found nothing at) and found CIB copies of:
Championship Pool (SNES)
True Lies (SNES)
Although I'm focusing on getting all of the NES boxes and N64 games, the SNES project is next on the list after those two so I try to pick up cheap boxed/complete titles when I can.
Then I found about 10 mint CIB Genesis sports titles. I'm not much for buying Sports titles, but considering that they were mint and complete and 75 cents each, I figured I should pick them up.
This may be thinking WAY to far ahead, but after I finish the NES, SNES and N64 libraries, I'm going to move on to the Genesis, so I still sort of look for cheap Genny stuff when I can.
Then this morning I headed over to a flea market. I managed to pick up 6 CIB NES games that I needed the boxes/manuals for:
Super C
Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular
Ninja Gaiden II
Rescue: Embassy Mission
Wrestlmania Steel Cage Challenge
Quatro Sports
Meh, I'm happy!:-D

Today I picked up an Atari Video Pinball for $24.95, a Coleco Donkey Kong tabletop (no battery door, of course) for $1.91, four IBM PC and PCjr software titles (Andrew Tobias Managing Your Money PCjr Cartridge, HomeWord, PC Pool Challenges, and IBM Assistant Home Solutions) for $1.99 each, and this oddball device made by Sega called 'Pods'. From what I've Googled, it's kind of a high-tech Simon game. Mine's missing the light bulbs in the external pods, along with the doors holding the bulbs in. Still, $2.99 for a nice little oddity.

So last Saturday morning at 8 a.m., I get a bright and cheery call from my directing manager from my job telling me he found a Sega Master System at a garage sale and about 15 games for $25.00, and he's asking me if he should get it for me. Seeing as I was in a deep sleep about fifteen seconds prior to this question, I'm like "umm... sure?"
So I get to work on Monday and we go out to his jeep and he gives me a box containing all the Sega stuff. Then he's like "I also got you this stuff..."
He lifts up another box full of random Nintendo stuff and Legend of Legaia for PlayStation. He said a lady at thier community sale didn't want to haul this stuff home at the end of the day, so she gave it him for free.
Sweet.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/ckeene/DSC_0003.jpg
The Sega stuff is pretty dusty, and the Power Base itelf may well be junk as there are no screws holding it together, and the connections in the back are sort of jacked-up looking. I'll test it and clean it though. Also got this Quickshot joystick.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/ckeene/DSC_0005.jpg

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/ckeene/CSC_0014.jpg
1 SuperPad 64
N64 RF adapter (haha)
Some sort of wireless PlayStation controller
Asciiware SNES pad
Asciiware Super Advantage (also needs cleaning)
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y139/ckeene/DSC_0019.jpg
NES games.
These NES games all came with SNES dust covers "covering" the bottom. That was where the ones in the above picture come from. I could use those more than NES sleeves, anyway.

Gears of War Complete (360) 24.94 after tax
My best find so far is unconsole related, my wife came home inbetween her last two finals this semister to tell me the university was giving away some old computers they had so I picked up a working HP Brio and 17" Mitsubishi flat-panel CRT.
I'll be heading to a Game X Change Friday to see what they have in stock. It's a shame none of the pawn stores here sell anything older than Playstation.

Mario 64 toy pinball machine; $1.00 at a garage sale.
Figured it was rare and in many people cases a nice little collector's item. Although, I cannot find even 1 listing for it on ebay and not even a picture of one through yahoo or google. If anyone has any leads or a value on this item please send me a link.

A couple bucks, that's about it really. They're still cool to have, especially if you have a few of them as well as the old VFD mini tabletop arcade games - every mini arcade needs some mini pinball. Compared to most mini tabletop pinball games made today (the ones you see at JCPenny for $20 every December) the older ones are of much higher quality. The layout of yours is what I think of as the second generation tabletop pinball - LCD score readout and sound effects, I have a Crash Team Racing one that uses the same base.
Earlier machines used a mechanical roller for scoring and had nothing more than a little bell inside for sound effects with a lightbulb that would light up when a target spring was hit. I have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles machine that is set up like this.
Also a little interesting tidbit on how these work. The ball works as a jumper to make an electrical connection to signal to add points. The playfield is a thin sheet of metal, only exposed around the target springs. When the ball touches a target spring it is also resting on an exposed part of the playfield, so the ball makes the electrical connection between the spring and the playfield and points are awarded.
All very elementary, but they're cool to have if you have a few of them atop a shelf.
Oh, also about the current machines I mentioned being of lower quality - they simply are. Cheaper grade plastic, lighter weight all around, and the playfields are rarely angled correctly - the ball gets stuck everywhere. I remember the old machines being $30 - $40 years ago and were sold as a quality product.

Picked this up at a garage sale, it was marked $10, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that much, so I offered $5 and she took it. So I didn't have to debate with myself if I should spend $10.

NES console with AC (which was broken open and taped back together, but everything appears to be fine with the internal connection), AV cables.
1 controller
Tetris
SMB/DH
SMB3
3 dust covers
I almost didn't stop at the sale because I drove past and it looked like all baby clothes and toys, but the street was a dead-end so I had to turn around anyway, and I figured 'what the hell' on the way back and stopped. And it was hidden under a pile of baby clothes.

Thanks a bunch for all the info, glad to see someone as knowledgeable and as up to date on this kind of things as you are. Very helpful and thanks again. I'll be sure to keep this all in mind.

Are you drunk or something? You repeated yourself a few times there. But $10 is still a good offer, SMB3 around here goes for $5-10 easily.

Good yard sale haul this morning...definitely worth getting up at 6 a.m.
The first lot of NES and Genesis stuff came from one house for $25. I asked the lady if she had any old school games, so she went inside, pulled out a drawer, brought it out and sold me everything inside:
NES Toaster w/ 2 controllers, RF switch, & power cord
Legend of Zelda gold cart w/ manual & sleeve
Tetris II w/ manual & sleeve
SMB/Duck Hunt loose
Time Lord loose (was inside the NES)
The Rocketeer w/ manual & sleeve
RBI Baseball w/ manual & Funcoland sleeve
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles loose
Game Genie loose
Zapper loose
Genesis model 2 w/ 1 controller, RF switch, & power cord & original paperwork
Barbie complete
Alex Kidd & the Enchanted Castle complete
John Madden Football complete
Barney's Hide & Seek complete
PGA Golf Tour II complete
Aladdin loose
Lion King loose
At another house, 2 teenagers sold me their entire Dreamcast and PS1 collections for $48 total. All the games were complete and the Dreamcast system was minty in a nice box with all the paperwork and baggies on everything for only $20! It looked like it had never been played!

Oh, and I hit the thrift on Thursday and found the following loose NES games for $3 each, a complete copy of Worldwide Soccer for the Saturn for $2 and a Pelican System Selector for $5:
Defender of the Crown
Magician
Nobunaga's Ambition
Ultima
Winter Games
Kitsune Sniper

Today's finds:
Guitar Hero II, complete and mint except for the case and insert: $15
Some Paul Oakenfold CD: $1
Performance 4x Dreamcast Memory Card w/box: $3
One of the booths brought tons and TONS of Gamecube, Saturn, PS1, PS2 and XBox stuff but they were unloading the things when I got there. Apparently a jerk reseller from the flea market bought tons of Game Boy and NES games for $5 each before I got there... the bastard usually resells these games for $10-$20 each. Hopefully there will be some good stuff left when I return tomorrow. -_-

I wish. Must have been a copy/paste error. I know I could have re-sold it for much more, but there's no one around here interested in buying. Today I passed up an NES with around 12 games for $30. Again, I could re-sell, but I figured I leave it for someone who really wants it.
