I may put mine for 2K Monies!

On a serious note, those who have received it, how was the packaging? I'm referring to that used to package and ship the game. Was it shipped in a box? Knowing China, it has to be bubble wrap, because at least Deal Extreme has a box phobia.:p

Watch one of the unboxings on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyocQnonHDo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9urnUf7kHco

The game is packaged inside a plastic blister pack. I guess they consider that to be the shipping container.
The plastic blister pack is reinforced with cardboard around it.
And finally, yes, all that is then put inside a bubble wrapped envelope.

But I got mine today and it was fine.

How do you identify if you got the posterity version or not? I can't find my damn letter. It does have a page or two about posterity in the manual though, and a certificate that says copy 212/800. I don't really care what version I have, I'm perfectly happy with it either way, but it would be cool to find out.

Thanks for the links. Very professional looking, so I can't wait to get it!

Still, makes me wonder if the good Chinese folk have a phobia or something against using cardboard boxes as shipping containers...sigh...

For the posterity you paid extra to have your name put into the game, other than that it's not really much different. But a few things are different.

Did the plastic case have a sticker of a frog on it? Did you get that extra magazine with the asian man wearing glasses on the cover? The posterity edition has has those things, the classic version doesn't.

@ segagamer - Yeah just knowing that its here but I can't pick it up yet makes the wait that much harder!

Some of you might have seen this and those of you who have already received your copy of the game may not care, but nonetheless I thought that it was cool to see and hear.

There is nothing like a good sounding "chip tune" sound track. Conversely there is nothing like a well composed CD soundtrack. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dudBuSkj_QY&feature=related)video on Youtube loads to the Pier Solar title screen and plays the FM sound track and then loads again with the CD soundtrack. Both of them sound absolutely excellent and really show how each has something different to offer.

Awesome, simply awesome!

It makes me wonder why Sega never did something similar to their games. They could have easily offered a CD with their games to "upgrade" the carts and give the Sega CD a more widespread use.

Another Marylander with no copy yet, but I remember reading on the forums that someone one street away from another got his copy while the other person was still waiting.

But I'm still excited to know that the game has made it to my state :D

I'm hoping that today is the day, and praying that they didn't leave a note on my door that's been blown away with all this wind lately.

All I have to say is.... WOW! My CDX is in pretty crappy cosmetic condition (but hey, at least I got it free), and I don't like using it very much. I was afraid I'd be missing out by just playing it on my original MegaDrive from 1990. Looks like I won't!

I just found out on the Pier Solar forums that they are releasing the Sega CD Enhanced Disc as a download. Its pretty cool that you would release this. :)

I was pretty bummed that I would miss out on this feature since I didn't know about the game in time to oder the special addition. If anyone is interested check out the link below.

Got mine a few hours ago and have been playing it since. So far, it is a great game. Very easy to get into. My 7 year old son made a fort(cave) and was watching me play the whole time. Very impressed with the game and the packaging. Everything looks extremly professional. I was blown away by the quality of the box/instructions/disc.

One thing, I think the disc is a problem. I have the same skipping problem as everyone else. I burned the disc and the copy seems to play fine. I did get a music skip in one small section, but it went away once I left that area. My Sega Cd has never had a problem, so I am thinking something is up with the discs since it seems like most people have the same problem. It isnt a problem for me since the burned copy works, but it must be frustrating for WaterMelon since I am sure this was a huge part of their game development.

Back to the game, I thought the movement/fighting/etc. was top-notch. Getting around is extremely easy. I love the "Auto" feature in the fighting. It takes the grinding out of the game if you get tired of fighting monsters. So far, I like everything about the game. The story is good, the dialog is good, making it a very good game. Back to the box/instructions. I love what they came up with. It looks great!

Well done WaterMelon! Thanks for making us wait, it was well worth it!!!

If making a copy works, then this leads me to believe that it's not the consoles problem, but a manufacturing error/issue. It's how the disc was pressed. Still, at least it's somehow "fixable" but it's a shame that this issue occurs.

It was pressed in china, same place all those anime bootleg DVD are pressed, it was bound to have errors :(, luckily the cart is not pressed ;P so no issues there. MAN i'm nervous cause mine haven't arrived yet either. :(

I thought that the first model of the Sega CD and Mega CD cannot read CD-R's or that it can be damaging to the unit if CD-R's are used.

I got mine on Friday...I can't believe it, a Canadian getting his stuff before you Yankees? Man, that's a first. Thank you, China! Haven't had a chance to play it, but wow, that packaging is killer. It's a beautiful set that still definitely fits in with the older red Genesis games. I was surprised by all the glued pages and the complexity of the packaging - they could have gotten away with doing it a lot cheaper, but I'm glad they put in the extra effort. Love the hand written number on the packaging. Mine is 186/800...do those numbers correspond to when you first bought the game, or is it more just random for the first 800 people? Shame that copies are already being listed on eBay for insane BINs, but I guess that is to be expected for limited pressings like this. Very happy to own a copy and to finally have it in my hands. Thanks for pulling through, WaterMelon!

Incorrect on both accounts. A CD is a CD to the Sega CD, there is no copy protection or difference. Same goes with the 3DO.

What about reports of damage using CD-R's on model 1 Sega or Mega CD units? I actually like the cartridge/FM soundtrack and don't want to damage my Sega CD unit, so if I have to live without the PCM soundtrack, so be it.

I preordered a posterity copy a long time ago, in a galaxy... but I never got an email telling me my game had been shipped. I contacted them via the website and they got back to me in just a few minutes with my tracking number and status.

Apparently there was a failed delivery attempt on Saturday. The post office had it safe and sound. No damage and the packaging looks great. I don't have a Genny at the moment so I don't see the point in opening it but I'm really looking forward to playing it. Hopefully soon, and with the CD audio.

My Sega CD 1 makes horrible sounds when I load a CDR. Since I lost two PCE DUO's to a CDR, which I only popped in once, I don't screw around with CDRs on original equipment.

Is that true David? I trust your opinion more than random "hear-say" on the internet. I have heard that CD-Rs are tough on the SegaCD, but it hasnt stopped me from using them on my 1st model SegaCD system. Something about the SegaCD having to work much harder to read a CD-r??? What is the truth? I cant imagine it would hurt it, but it would be nice to know for sure...

Got mine today! I don't have to vacuum for awhile! Ne Ner Ne Ner Ne Ner. Opened that bich up. The thing came well packaged in a blister surounded in cardboard on 4 sides and back. The box is very nice. It's kinda like the majesco box but the manual/book is attached to the top/front. The cd is attached to the inside of the cover/top. Under the bock is the game sitting like a mejesco box. Wrapped in plastic with a sticker seal. Under the game is a numbered authentication card. It all looks very nice. I've played a little of the game. 1st town and the forest. And all I can say is AMAZING! The story telling, graphics and sound are very good. Water Melon did an awesome job. Congradulations! and thank you. Off to play some more... http://www.digitpress.com/media/_images/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

Off-topic: Wraith Storm, what is your signature from? A movie? A game?

It's Alicia from the Xbox 360 game Bullet Witch. Universally panned by pretty much everyone that's played it, but I love it! It's hands down one of my favorite games ever made.

On another note... I FINALLY GOT PIER SOLAR!!! As most have stated already the packaging is excellent. I can hardly remember the last time I spent an hour mulling over an instruction booklet, but I certainly did here. It has a fantastic layout with screen shots and original artwork littering the pages. It's simply awesome.

The Posterity Edition Magazine/ Strategy Guide was also given the same amount of detail. It has all sorts of information and "hype" about how awesome the Genesis is! It made me chuckle and took me right back to the early 90's. The strategy guide portion while small is filled to the brim with info. It covers the first portion of the game with a brief walk-through. It's fairly robust and filled with detailed maps and a small beastiary and items list. This has me HOPING that they release a full strategy guide of this same quality.

I probably wont get a chance to play it until Friday, but something tells me i'll have a nice looooong gaming session this weekend.

I don't have the Posterity Edition but was that strategy guide thing based on the demo or the final release of the game.

The battle mechanics and monsters are somewhat different between the two.

Well I haven't played the game yet. I won't get to until this weekend when I have more time, but everything looked to be based on the final version.

I don't see why they would go to all the trouble to make an awesome mini strategy guide based off the demo and include it with the final release of the game. Then again... stranger things have happened, but I'm pretty sure its indicative of the final release.

That means that it has yet to be scanned at the local unit.

Give it a few days to see if the status changes.

Also, check using USPS website instead of HK Post, if necessary.

So what does "arrival at transit office of exchange" mean? Last location was shenzhen and usps site says, "origin post is preparing shipment". This still sounds like it's far, far away :(

I might sell my copy soon actually if anyone wants a classic edition. I could use the money.

If it's a USA copy I may be interested. How much you looking to get for it?

It's the JP MegaDrive packaging. I'm looking for more than $35, but less than whatever they've been selling for on Ebay.

As usual, burn slow and you'll be fine. Model 1 SCD's are pieces of junk to begin with. Yeah, I like how it looks but it's a piece of junk.

So you are saying that all model 2 Sega CD units are much better than model 1? Do you have documented proof? My model 1 Sega CD was purchased brand new many years ago and I have not used anything but official game and music discs. I have yet to encounter the problem similar to the PS disc, and am not about to damage my system by using CD-R for just one game.

Geez dude, then DON'T. It's your stuff, you're welcome to do whatever you want with it.

Hey, I just played the demo for this a couple days ago and I loved it, great work guys, I'm really looking forward to the final product when it's released.

I would also like to mention, not to toot my own horn or anything, I wrote a preview article for the game based on the demo version that was released, it's on my gaming blog over at RF Generation and it was recently put on the front page of the site.

I have a vacuuming robot. Roombas are awesome.
