you want skepticism? the cover art will surely suck... just wait till they show it... this whole thread will fall apart as soon as they show us the cover art...
LMAO! I remember that. That was hilarious. I kinda hope this game DOES have bad cover art so it'll get the thread lively again ;)

Eh. Can't say the bitching didn't make a difference. They are rereleasing Beggar Prince with better artwork... and it's compatible with the CDX. :P

Oooooh there's a lot to like there!
Title screen & logo are gorgeous
The thought of a demo to play - awesome!
The music is really well done, I especially like the "ambiant" theme - is there a way to get back to it if you select a different song, easily?
The graphics look great, except for that overworld picture... that doesn't seem to be up to the rest of the quality. The forest (I'm guessing they're forests) look more like explosions.

Yes! I agree the logo is VERY nice. From the design to the stark contrast in colors, I love it. It looks VERY professional! On the downside the world map does indeed look very plain and simple compared to the rest.
Regardless, the game looks like it is coming together to make one incredible experiance. You can count on me to order a Sega CD copy and if the differences are enough I'll just have to snag a Genesis version as well!
Good luck!!!

Wow. If I was in the States, I'd buy a Sega CD and a Genesis just to play this game. Great work on the website--I love the music!
I can't wait.... I will definitely do what I can to secure a copy when it is released. Everything about it makes my 16-bit heart pound.

The forum seems to have been down the last several days...
The Pier Solar-forum? No, it has been working all the time; and the website has been buisy. Our bandwidth was blown away with 30 GByte of downloads in the first 3 days. One day we had 6.000 hits, 28GB downloaded and 6900 unique tracked visitors! That is very much for a Mega Drive-related site!
We are very happy for all the interest in our game, this is a great encouragement! We promise not to disappoint you!

Will this work on w/ 32x, JVC X Eye or Laseractive? Also please don't let the Sega CD version be on a CD-R press the darn thing 1000 copies would be cheap.

Please, be sceptical about something else! I´ll be the one doing the cover art, so can´t you just be sceptical about, say, the dialogue? I´m not involved in that!:onfire:
I was being facetious! and if you did the logo too, I'm sure the cover art will be very nice... the logo looks great, the website looks great, the game looks great, and I can't wait to play it! is there gonna be a mailing list, or a way to subscribe to topics on the forums? I don't wanna miss the red alert when you guys start taking preorders... looks like I'm gonna have to set aside enough money for the cartridge version for sure, and maybe the CD version as well!
now for the grumbling... I think the world map looks like it was done by a different artist than whoever did the art for the rest of the game... it just doesn't seem to blend in with the feel of the rest of the graphics... I don't think it's really that big of a deal, and it's certainly not a deal breaker for me, but I'm just saying I have to agree the world map could use improvement...

The game is looking great. The only thing I saw in the video that I didn't like is how the damage numbers came up as black text in a white box. That seems unpolished. Is there any way it could just be white text with no box?

Sorry, I think the answers to your questions can only be revealed in the future, but I can safely say everyone who wants a copy will get one and it will be affordable for the general video gamer.

Wow! This is REALLY looking good. The graphics look great and I LOVE the detail like the leaves falling in the forest. Little details like this add so much to a game.
It reminded me of the first time I played Albert Odyssey on the Saturn. In the first village the shadows of the trees actually had animation and really emphasized the fact that the leaves were blowing in the wind. It was a simple yet VERY effective detail that added to the games charm.
Seeing that you have taken the time to add such detail reassures me that this game is gonna ROCK! I said it before and I'll say it again, I am buying both Cart and CD version. You can count on it!
Now that the nice is out of the way, lets get dirty. No to offend anyone here... this is just an observation... I'm not trying to sound ungrateful or anything, but the battle spells look pretty lackluster and uninspired. Eye candy spells is one way to insure that the battles are kept entertaining. I remember when I had Final Fantasy 6 on the SNES and It's spell were simply jaw-dropping! To see something that even vaguely resembles the spells in that game on the Genesis would be incredible.
The second issue that I have is the music. I have been vocal about this before. The music is very good quality. It sounds so rich and I felt like a small orchestra was in front of me. Unfortunately, composition wise, I think its very generic. There are a few exceptions, but overall it's just... there. It's not really bad, but it's not that great either. It doesn't sweep me away like It should.
But with that said I wish you the best of luck in the next few months, and I'll be anticipating the release!!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it really motivates us!
The magic spells will be more spectacular later in the game, the first ones aren't usually so that much in RPGs.
The music is quite generic yes, but it is prefered before something bad or unfitting. I promise that none of the best tracks aren't heard yet.
:)

And Posterity name, what exactly is that?

Quick reply to the questions:
The game will have no region lockout and play on both PAL- and NTSC-machines.
And yes, your family name is your last name.
By posterity name we mean the name you want to have listed in the game´s manual and credits; it can be your real name or your nickname, just nothing copyrighter or offensive.:)

THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!! The demo is fantastic and I LOVE how charming the dialog is. I had a smile on my face the entire time I played it!
It is somewhat dissapointing to hear that there will be no standalone Sega CD version, but at least we can still get the CD soundtrack to use with the game. This might proove to be very beneficial. I can play it on my Nomad when i'm on the go and then when I get home I can play it in my X'Eye and hear the FULL CD soundtrack as well!
The only downside that I have seen in the game so far is the lack of interaction with objects. No searching pots and crates around town and finding items in them and no searching book shelves and getting to find out what books are there. This adds a LOT to an RPG and without this it somewhat kills my motivation to explore every nook and cranny the game has.
With that said, you had to start somewhere and this game really is a fantastic begining. You can bet on a pre-order from me within the next few days. Keep up the good work!!!

looks like it's a genesis game, but the extended soundtracks/better audio is hosting on the sega cd ;p so if you wanna play it with better sound and possibly the full soundtrack instead of short looks u put in the cd :o
i'm not 100% on that though :|
Zebbe

It will be released on Mega Drive/Genesis and include a CD which will be usable to get the Redbook Audio soundtrack to play during the game instead of the chiptunes. There is no Mega/Sega CD only version.

So it is a Genesis game that also utilizes the Sega CD at the same time? That is what I am gathering since you keep mentioning Sega CD.
Also, the Posterity Edition and Classic Editions are the same except that the Post Edition puts your name in the credits and manual?
Just want to know before I make a purchase.

Up to 16 characters including spaces between letters, three words in total is permited. I preordered the Posterity Edition of course, this will be the perfect Christmas gift under my tree.

I'm no expert :| From what I gathered though yeah that's it. It can work standalone but without the sega cd the music will be shorter maybe and less quality or something.
And so far thats the difference between posterity edition, though they said there will be some preorder bonus' probably, and it's possible that the posterity will get more preorder stuffs :| Though they never mentioned that.

Since you have such a big mouth, why don't you show us what you've done? Charles Doty has coded on *many* different systems, and a lot of them before there were any tools or real documentation. His stuff runs on a *real* hardware, not just emulators (which is much easier than coding for a real system because emulators lets you get away without strict initialization processes and don't have all the quirks of a real system).
