My last video game purchase in Iowa before I move to Alaska (wipes tear from eye). I purchased Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2 for PS2 and for Xbox (don't you love the look people give you when you buy two versions of the same game at the same time) and Tomb Raider Anniversary for PS2 for $30 all together. Is there any major differences between the ps2 or xbox version of dark alliance 2? If there isn't I'm probably selling the ps2 version once I get to canada to make up the money I spent on the 3 games.

I don't want to be a Negative Nancy, but the packaging of those cards look a bit... sketchy. Are you sure they're legit? Because I've come across quite a few bootleg cards that use that same packaging...
Yea,they are legit..I looked them over real well before I bought them and after..Same thing as the $4-5 packs he gets in the machines.
.and his friends know cards real well..
I'd actually like to find some of these booted, just to see what they look like.

I remember a news story on fake ones. Apparently on fakes if you hold them up to light they are fairly transparent, and they rip in half much easier.

was in half price books trading in some records, and i was browsing the game section and they had the usual junk, i was ready to go but my trade was not ready yet so i thought what the heck ill look through the software section, im browsing and i see what look like ps1 cases, i see some nfl game, jetmoto, and im thinking the usual sports junk, then the last game i see, oh hey blast lacrosse, i could not believe it, then i thought they might know its value, i pull it out and they have 1.99 on it, and its complete and in mint condition.
It made up for the fact that half price books is such a rip off. They sell cds for like 9 bucks and they pay you about .10 for them.
Other stores sell for 6 and pay about 2.
So basically when they made me a crappy offer on the records i said whatever i already made my money, lol.
At the flea market sunday,
sega saturn system with plugs $12
kirby 64 $2
Mario party 5 $7.50
mario party 6 $7.50

A few Genesis finds, plus some technology I can't use yet:
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/6662/genhdmixa2.jpg
Got the Genny games at a thrift I rarely visit...all were mint and complete, except for the grease pencil "1.99"s this place uses. The lethal enforcers was behind the case and 4.99, but didn't have the grease pencil! It was brand new and complete, so I picked it up to upgrade my collection copy.
Also found a $4.99 Target return Belkin 6 ft. HDMI cable at Goodwill which I can't even use right now. Plan to get a hi-def set for next-gen gaming this year, and seemed to recall that these were expensive...is Belkin any good for HDMI cables?...is $4.99 a good price?

Went to a HAM Fest / Swap meet over the 4th weekend. Walk around for probably about 2 hours not seeing much of anything. We were about to leave after one more run through of the place when I spotted a table with some longbox PS1 games (I don't see them that often around here). Here's the list of what I got:
The Need for Speed
Tekken
Ridge Racer
Krazy Ivan
Alien Trilogy
Panzer General
Cyberia
Destruction Derby
The seller had them listed for $1 a piece, so I offered him $5 for the whole stack; and he took it! I went through the boxes (and they're all in MINT condition) and found a Test Drive 5 (non longbox) in one of the cases.
Walk back towards our car, and found this sweet piece of a machine:
Pioneer LD-v4200 LaserDisc - $20
Finally got myself a laserdisc. I went out to Half Price Books and bought about 15 LD's to watch. Some of them include: Star Trek 1 - 3, 5; Indiana Johns and the Temple of Doom / Raiders, Camelot, and a couple more that I can't think of off the top of my head.
For some reason then, I felt like going to goodwill. Walk straight to the electronic section and found:
Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD -- $10
Ten bucks for an HD-DVD player?! Yes, I would like that, Goodwill. Brought it home, hooked it up, and it's stuck on the loading screen. Well, crap. Read a little bit about it at work today, and found out that if you had it going through the HDMI port (like I did), it tends to be VERY touchy about it working properly. Tried it through RCA when I got home, works like a charm.
So, all in all, here was the total for $35 for the weekend:
9 Mint in Box PS1 games (8 in longbox)
LaserDisc player
HD-DVD player
One of the better weekends I've had!

I haven't posted in one of these topics in forever, but now that it's summer, I'm hunting at thrift stores and such again. So far I haven't found any games worth buying, except for some regular store purchases. I got Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins for PSP and King of Fighters XI for $12.99 each at Circuit City, and I picked up Chaos Wars at the MSRP since I think it might become desirable eventually.
Anyway, what I have managed to find is Sonic plushies, back to back strangely. I found Shadow at a thrift for $1.99 and Tails at another for $0.99. And since I have my own digital camera now, this gives me an opportunity to show off what I posted about last summer - my huge Sonic and my MASSIVE Donkey Kong. The random Genesis game is for size comparison. :)
http://www.inverteddungeon.com/triacesuperfan/plushiephoto.jpg
I like the Tails better than the Shadow, which has a kinda gimpy face. I don't know what's up with the little devil outfit. I wasn't able to find a single one on eBay with that.
Oh, and my big bummer in my hunting was that I actually found a case for The Neverhood, so instantly I got extremely excited until I realized the disc was missing. :/ I wonder if someone stole it. The lid and front insert were gone too, so I didn't bother getting it even for the packaging.

Made the rounds of the local Blockbusters as they started their $14.99 and under BOGO sale:
http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/6013/bbbogomg7.jpg
Was able to pair up same priced games, so basically everything was half price. Except for 360 Katamari (anyone have a spare manual?), everything was complete too ...couldn't pass up Katamari for 5 bucks, especially as the only other BB that had it, had it marked $34.99. I'd been looking for a cheap Just Cause for the 360, but found the Xbox version for $3.50 and decided to pick it up...of course the next BB I went to had the 360 version effectively for $5.00, so I got that too. Pretty good sale.

Its a so so Sandbox game.
Its got a novel concept where you get to use a harpoon gun and zip about and bust out a parachute and do fun-ish stuff.
Biggest downfall is that the game is so massive ground wise that it takes far too long to travel about doing anything (its something like 250,000 acres) and the main story can be done in about 6 hours, while the side mission stuff is real boring side mission stuff.

Well I broke down and bought a really good condition Final Fantasy VII. The case has a couple cracks but that's fine. I just hope this copy doesn't ever get stolen like the last two. I paid too many for it to be a great find but I paid less than it goes for on eBay or Amazon.
Now only to find Final Fantasy Chronicles, Final Fantasy IX and the music CD for Final Fantasy Anthologies...

Yesterday was my birthday and a friend took me to a thrift store I don't go to often and I found a few things there:
http://www.green-ranger.com/transformers/bday2008.jpg
the genesis and the two controllers were 10$ total, a little much but its a variation that i've never had (I have the high def graphics version and myrads of the model 2's, but never had the one with out the hdg logo) plus i've never had the genesis version of that controller, too bad the start button was broken (didn't notice till i got home) also not pictured I found a copy of starcraft with cd key for 1$ as well as a katie segal music cd ! (peg bundy from married with chldren) I bet its awesome,, all the transformers indy and power ranger toys were all new birthday presents. my mom also sent me lost odessy for 360 but i'll be exchanging that sometime this week.
overall a good birthday.

You know, my local GoodWill has to be the worst one there is. The only game-related stuff they had were a PSX controller and Tomb Raider (PC, $10). I find the best stuff at either independent ones, or bigger ones like Salvation Army or Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch Store (that's a weird one). My church has a thrift shop, but apparently, SOMEBODY there knows what games are worth! There's an old LaserActive game in the case, valued at approx $40, and they're asking $25. They even have a post-it note on there that says "Rare LaserDisk Game."

every goodwill in the country is corrupt, porksta knows about that. Everything good gets taken from the back room. Even independent stores are the same way, unless two old ladies run the store by themselves.
Its really a shame about the goodwill.
The other day i saw a guy dropping of a sony stereo, it was like 8 pieces in perfect condition. He was driving a nice car, it was probably a 1000 stereo, but it will never see the shelf.
My local goodwill has never had even one electronic item in 4 years.
the one time that was were i found the blast lacrosse case, but of course the disc was missing, it was a mint case and manual

I know of a local fella who gets dibs on all the Goodwills in my area (about 8 stores) in regards to electronics and games. His ebay business flourishes because of it. Not sure how he arranged it but he explained it to me and he hits all the stores three times a week and takes what he wants for the normal price before the items hit the shelves.

Most of the cartridges and discs get stolen out of the cases by shoppers at the local Goodwills here, so I don't have to worry about the workers...
Not much tonight, but probably more than I needed to spend at Toys R Us.
GameCube Memory Card 251 (new) - $3.98 (It was the last one, and I've actually filled up a 1019 already, so I'll finally be able to play PSO III: C.A.R.D. Battle and Zelda: Twilight Princess.)
Thrillville: Off the Rails (Wii, new) - $9.99 (If my Wii ever gets repaired, I'll play it someday.)

Muahahaha!!!
It is going to be a shame when my job ends, because the electronics shelf will never get sorted out as all the old ladies there don't know the values of anything, and as such won't go through and price stuff.

Sold 6 X-box 360 mem cards that I payed 3.00 each for to Gamestop for 8.80 each and put that towards Preorders.
Went to an auction and picked up:
Top loading NES 2.00
Original Gameboy 2.00
Gaming Chairs 2 for 17.50 these are the ones with the speakers built in
They had a core system 360 but I checked it out and got nothing on a tv, but also no red lights, but it went for 180 to a person that I really don't care for due to their attitude.

My first craigslist related find ballooned into several other finds today:
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/5895/cl1hv9.jpg
A rummage listing in Waukesha simply mentioned Gamecube and Xbox on craigslist, so I checked it out this morning. The Gamecube was 30, but the 2 Mario Party games were only $5 each, so I picked them up. The Xbox was system only, but at $10, I picked it up too. It works fine, and l plan to put the hard drive from my soft-modded Xbox into it, as its power supply has died…I think that should work.
Then, on the way home, I passed a Blockbuster I hadn’t been in before, and got the following titles through their BOGO sale:

Picked up another Katamari for the manual to complete the one I got Tuesday…paid just over $33 for the whole lot here.
My trip home took me past one of my usual Goodwills, where I found everything below for .99 each:

Getting a couple of manual upgrades through the genesis stuff, and the SNES Lord of the Rings and Y’s III made a nice ending to the day.

What's SNES LOTR worth?
When I sold mine a few years ago it was practically worthless but now it seems to have ballooned to the unbelievable price of $5.

Even 20 would have been a great price for it. I'm just glad I didnt have to break down and pay the 50+ people are asking for it on ebay. First time I ever saw it in the wild as well.

Hehe, it was at my buddy's swap shop unpriced and he must have just had someone trade it in in the last couple of days. I was willing to go $5 since I didn't have a copy and have been wanting it for a few years. Pleasantly surprised just to find it in the wild. He also had a Zelda: LttP, which I already have a few copies of, but he was firm on $10 for it. Don't blame him for that since Zelda games are a sure seller in this area.

After finding Hot Slots last week, which you can see here:

I didn't think I would find anything too cool anytime soon, but this find here isn't too bad:

WonderSwan + Case + 5 games for the fine price of $9.99. I love the pink color of it, it looks so rad. I've always wanted a WonderSwan, so this was nice to see. Going to have to make heavy use of FAQs to play these games though, as I totally cannot read any japanese.
