Hello
I'm kind of new to these reproduction carts, just discovered them a while ago.
Have been looking lately for the Nightmare Busters cart.
Just found one on ebay but it was sold before I had the chance to purchase the game..
Is anyone willing to sell me a copy of the game?
I would love to play the real deal on my SNES!
PAL or NTSC version doesnt really matter but I would prefer the NTSC-version.
Send me PM! Thanks in advance.

Nightmare Busters is currently being worked on by the Super Fighter team, so you might as well wait until they finish with it so you can get a legitimate, licensed copy.

Thanks, I have been searching info about the game and then read about SuperFighter Team's plan on releasing the game and sure I will try to purchase their copy but... that seems so far away. When is it going to be released?
I need to play the game on my snes noooow! Please :help:

Here's an email correspondence I had with them. Honestly, I thought Mr. Cobb was kind of rude considering how I'm on their side and am trying to support them, but maybe he just sucks at communicating well via email:
Hello, Informationator.
Please excuse the delay in my response.
I'm very excited about the release of Nightmare Busters and am dying for an update. Is the project on hold or are there any new developments regarding it's release? I know you probably like to steer clear of setting release dates until somethings done, but any notion of when it might be done?
Pardon, but we do not make a habit of releasing details about our products until they are ready for release. Since you are on our Nightmare Busters mailing list, you'll be informed whenever we have news.
Have a nice day.

"Never let dreams die!"
They've been working on it for quite some time, so I'd like to think they'd release it soon, but you never know. Prolonged silence from a development team is always foreboding to me... Reminds me of Black Mesa Source (http://wiki.blackmesasource.com/Black_Mesa:_Wiki:Current_events), which has been working on their restoration for what... like 5 years?
Fingers crossed! :D I know what I've said isn't much incentive for you not to buy a repro, but when I see a company go through the trouble to talk to the original developers and get their stamp of approval on creating an official release, it makes me want to support that company.

I don't think you can do Earthbound repros since there is a specific check in the game code to prevent it from being pirated.

I'm sure that could easily be hacked out of the code. All you need to know is the location of that data and a hex editor and you're set.

Hi there I am New to here and I love the work On here especially what Kogami has to offer some brilliant work.
I have a little knowledge in engineering & programming and would love to make my own repro carts to fit nicely in my snes collection but I need a little help I have a couple of questions and I hope someone may :help: me in this and it may also be off help to others in this forum. I only wish to make 4 games and My questions will be simple.
Question 1: I delete the header on my rom and it does not load in my emulator which is snes 9x (I hate Emulation no offence to any one just dont find it popper) is this normal? or is Hex editor recommended?
Question 2: Star Fox 2 will be the first game I wish to reproduce and there is a tutorial available on snesdev and ultimateconsole.fr I have read the snesdev one is wrong so is the ultimateconsole.fr the right way of doing things please look below for pictures:
Snesdev:
4684
Ultimateconsole.fr:
4685
which one is right out of these 2? I am using a stunt Race FX, and are these the same schematics used for all the reproduction games?
Question 3: The next two games I wish to Make is Secret of Mana 2 and Tales of Phantasia I have seen the snesdev tutorial on this once again but have been left a little confused on this on how the EPROMS go on top of each other is there a set order or any random order you prefer or is it:
Option 1:
Eprom 1 (TOP)
Eprom 2 (2nd)
Eprom 3 (3rd)
Eprom 4 (last)
Option 2:
Eprom 4 (TOP)
Eprom 3 (2nd)
Eprom 2 (3rd)
Eprom 1 (last)
and I guess this would be the same for tales of phantasia and are the schematics right on this one please look below at snesdev image I am also making Pal version on illusion of time.
4686
Question 4: I wish to make Legend of zelda Parralel worlds, NBA Live 95 is the donor cart used I think and also are the schematics the same I know there are tutorials available with diagrams but my dyslexia gets in the way. :(
I am sorry for making this so long and Thanks for your help in advance much appreciated.

But why? It'd cost just as much if not more than a legit copy.

Today I tried my first cartmod and was unsuccessful.
I didn't want to risk a good game, so I started with a crappy game just to see if it would work. It's NCAA Football.
I removed the mask ROM and soldered jumpers from the cart to a protoboard.
Since I didn't find a compatible game (didn't look at that before), I decided to burn the EPROM with the same game. I downloaded NCAA Football, removed the header, recorded to the EPROM and plugged onto the protoboard.
It didn't work. The SNES doesn't even turn on with this game (it does with other games or even no games).
Can anyone point what could be wrong? If I do not connect the pins correctly, could that cause the console to not turn on?
Edit: nevermind... stupid me. I was inserting the cartridge backwards! I didn't put the cover back, so I thought the IC side should be turned to me.
My first cartmod (which wasn't really a mod anyway) worked =)

SNES Star Ocean (English Translation) (NTSC US)
Built for a fellow DP forum member. Was really impressed by the game, am planning on building one for myself now:)

I'm always available for custom work if anybody needs anything built (repro's, homebrew manufacture, console mods, hardware design, etc). I'm based in the UK but can happily deal with PAL or NTSC carts and consoles.

Very excited for this recent guy:
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n223/mrmark0673/Genesis%20Reproductions/DSC01183.jpg
Darxide NTSC repro! A few notes about it:
- It is in a standard cart shell. The PCB can't fit into a regular 32x shell, so no one can swap the PCB
- The game DOES NOT play on PAL systems. It can't be passed off as a European game because it won't play on their consoles.
- The game uses the yellow NTSC color scheme for both its cart shell and clamshell. It doesn't look anywhere near similar to the PAL version.
This was a long time coming, no idea what we're gonna tackle next.

Hello,
How much would a reproduction cartdrige of Starfox 2 cost? Do you sell them?
Im really desperately in love and search of this game. :(
Hi, I am looking to buy a star ocean reproduction cart, I would buy it off retrozone but that blue case does not fit well with my collection, if anyone has any left or is willing to help me out that would be awesome, thanks!

Okay, so I'm looking for Repros (all in English, obviously) of several games, and all in NTSC format:
Star Ocean
Tales of Phantasia
Seiken Densetsu 3
Final Fantasy V
I'd want them in grey cartridges, just as if they were real Nintendo products. What kind of price could I expect?

08-27-2012, 06:42 PM
that request might be a tough one as I believe there is a big chip shortage going on
It seems that the ones being used in repro carts are getting harder and harder to find.

Kogami, i see you made a Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension Repro for U.S. Super Nintendo's. I have seen many repros, but ive never seen this one, and honestly if there was ever a time i wanted a repro, i want the Hyper Dimension one for North America. I understand you dont sell repros, but can you show me a guide on how to make one? I dont have the slightest clue on how to make these, but if you can show me a very helpful guide? After seeing your DBZ repro, i decided i have to make it myself if i ever want to play it on my U.S. Super Nintendo.

Why don't people start looking into the game reproduction sites? I've gotten quite a few from them, and just recently had Shin Megami Tensei I and II SNES created for me with only minimal issues (the seller/creator had a shipping mishap, but it was easily fixed without any damage or loss on my part).

GameReproductions used to be really good, but the last time I looked their supply of SNES games were dwindled quite a bit, and their Sega games were as well. Maybe this is due to the aforementioned chip shortage?
RetroQuest is a fairly new site though (it's who I got from Shin Megami I and II from), and while the main dude's English may not be top notch when you talk to him, he can create any custom ROM carts for you, including box and artwork. Customer service was also good - he asked me to please try the games out when they got to my house, and was happy to comply with my requests to send a picture of the carts, the box, and the actual game playing on a SNES before he mailed them to me. I can verify that the two games I got from worked very nicely too, so you may want to see if he can help you with your specific needs. If you want to see the carts I have, let me know and I can snap a few pictures.
Finally, Warners Retro Corner is around, but I've never worked with them so I can't personally comment on customer feedback or their site's friendliness.

You exactly needs "Mad-1" to put on games of more than two eproms

it serves for Tales of Phantasia

Please kogami, where i can get the BS zelda rom of 1 megabyte in english?
Did you ever tryed to repro THE SHADOW, it's a beat em up from the old movie. I've tryed to spli/swap/delete header with Snes rom util but it's the only rom that the program don't reconize! How can i swap bin without that program?? I don't have a willem..
For Hirom cart/games with two eproms, does the "process" equal for Lorom games? I mean, OE1 in MAD1 pin 1 and OE2 in MAD1 pin 16? that's it? For lorom games works fine but i tryed with megaman 7 and it won't work.. the game freezes after the capcom logo (i only hear the music)
Do you ever encountered problems using different eproms? I've used two 27801 (100F both) but one of them has the uv light window smaller then the other (?)
Thank you so mutch

In this case, yes, it's Final Fantasy 6 SFC.

Hi, Kogami,
I was looking at the pictures of your tester. Why is there a switch in the right part of it? Do you need that to increase current when using 6 eproms?
I couldn't figure out the need of it.

Got bored of soldering wires, so i've designed some EPROM adapter PCBs:) These two carts use 27C322 EPROMs connected as 8 bit;

I've also designed a more complex adapter that allows the full capacity of a 27C322 to be used, will post pics when the PCBs arrive.

Hey group. I new to this forum but not new to Snes hacks and cart adapters.
Projects I'm working on:
Star Fox Trilogy. All 3 starfox games on one cartridge (star fox 1,2 and competition).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MooCcCgfU34&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Projects completed
Yoshi's Islands rom adapter so YI hacks can be installed on real hardware. Easy to change EPROMs

4 EPROM (32m) adapter to put on a Snes cart and it all fits inside case

And some others
Would like to find out how to put star ocean on a non ssd1 cart. Any body figure this one out?

Finally received my 16 bit 27C322 adapter PCBs:) The design uses two 74HCT245s and a 74HCT139 to access all 16 address lines on the EPROM, meaning you can have games up to 32mbit in size on one chip. No messy wiring needed, and it fits neatly onto an original game PCB:)

This is the first repro cart i've built using the new boards, Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Also built myself a Super Back to the Future 2 cart using the simple adapter board;

That's a nice setup Pootle. Why did you opt for the 322 adapter board instead of the 29F032 TSOP that most
people use? Was it mostly because of the price of those 32Mbit flash chips now?

27C322 eproms are a lot cheaper and easier to find these days, even with the cost of the extra components on the adapter board. Plus i like designing PCBs :)

Finished building a Starfox 2 cart using my newly designed adapter board:) Once again this has both the Japanese proto, and the English translation on the same cart.

My first (real) cartmod: turned a horrible US football game into translated (non-English) Zelda:

Looks like crap, but I'll improve =)

Hey, pootle, that adapter is really nice. Do you intend to specify how it was made?

hi, where to find a tutorial for a beginner? thanks a lot
I looked for that a lot and did not find one. This isn't a simple task for everybody. Also the information I found is very technical. There are one or two tutorials on how to make a basic repro, but almost no explanation about it. It's simply "remove the mask ROM, solder a new one, rewrite these pins and it's done". You can make a repro, but won't understand what you're doing.
I knew nothing about electronics or eletricity, so I bought a book about it and read it. I also asked a friend for tips.
Bought materials and tools I didn't have, like soldering iron, EPROM programmer and stuff.
I recently made my first repro (a few posts behind), but there is still a lot of things I have to learn. I basically have very few knowledge about digital electronics currently (I learned mostly about analog electroncis). I'm trying to make the ROM tester Kogami made, but it's VERY difficult for me. Been on it for a few months and no success so far.
So, unless you're willing to learn about a lot of basic stuff BEFORE going into repros and also spend money buying everything you'll need, you'll certainly won't be able to make repros. As you probably realised, repro makers generally aren't very helpful.
