Thought this PC collection was pretty cool, so I picked it up ("Interplay's 10 Year Anthology). It has Mindshadow, Bard's Tale, Tass Times, Wasteland, Battlechess, Dragon Wars, Castles, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek 25th Ann, and Out of this World. Plus the disc has some other interesting tracks: "Vikings Super Nintendo Title", "Claymates Super Nintendo Title", and a few others. I'm guessing it is complete w/ inserts and a couple hundred page compilation of all the manuals (b&w :(). Xbox controller was at the same place, and it was 20% off day yesterday, so together they were about 5 bucks.

Road Rash was at an SA a while back. It had been there a long time, but marked $8, as were some other good titles. One day I came in and they'd all been re-marked $3, so I picked a few, but left Road Rash. The whole lot of them were about to be thrown away (as they do with stuff that doesn't sell after it goes to 50% off), but the woman at the register said she saw it and knew they were just priced too high, so they got re-tagged. RR was still there when it went on 50% off color tags again, so I rescued it for a buck fifty.

I don't like posting ebay stuff, but this one was pretty cool.

I bought a genesis game from someone, he had a deal where every other game is only 75 cents shipping. So I figured "awesome, I'll try getting another one...or two" I Bid 1 cent on Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter (CIB) and won! so that came out to a grand total of 76 cents. Even if I found this at Goodwill it still would have came out to more.

I got a bunch of stuff recently, no spectacular deals, but I'm happy with what I paid:

About 1/4 the Odyssey 2 library complete in box and a bunch of needed manuals - $30 worth of trades, Next Level Videogames (http://nlvideogames.com/) (Nick, Drexel923, is always a good guy to trade with)
I also traded/bought a bunch of other stuff from the store, many disc only games, lots of atari carts, and two bare xbox systems.

Tecmo Super Bowl NES loose - $2, goodwill
RE3 Nemesis PSX complete - $3, goodwill
Original Gameboy Tetris bundle mint/complete - $20, goodwill (the system has a broken screen, but I'm still happy because of the condition of everything else)

NES Action set near mint/compelte - $30, craigslist (I could have tried negotiating, but I didn't want to take the risk. CL never has any good stuff around where I live)

The version of Tass Times in Tonetown on there the standard DOS CGA version?

Yeah, I do know it is supposed to be b&w, it is just that I wish it to be full color. Buy based on its size, you are right, that just isn't realistic.

The version of Tass Times in Tonetown on there the standard DOS CGA version?
I can't find anything that says explicitly, other than the front of the box, which says, "Ten classic DOS games in their original formats ... on CD-ROM."

edit: just thought I'd add something funny I read in the installation instructions: Step 1) Connect the mouse, if you have one, to your computer.

A long-time friend of mine sold me his PS one LCD screen with a couple of games and an extra controller for $25 - fairest price I've ever seen for one.

And another find...I found out one of my friends has FFVII (non-GH) just because he is a big Final Fantasy nut: he doesn't even have a PlayStation. He's missing disc 1 because he loaned it to a friend just before that friend moved to Arizona (bye-bye disc 1), but otherwise it's perfect. His wife said she'd try to talk him into selling it to me, or she said if she can twist his arm enough he'll probably give it to me.

I'm stoked, but now I gotta look for FFVII disc 1 only. Wish me luck.

Oh, and I picked up Morrowind for $5 this afternoon.

Are there screen shots on the back or anything? If it's full color I'd be very interested as I thought Tass Times in Tonetown was only ever released on the PC in four color CGA (cyan and magenta).

Bought a couple more games today:

Gamecube:
Lego Star Wars II (complete, non-Player's Choice) - $7.99 at FYE
Talk about a nice score (especially since GameStop charges $24.99).

DS:
Flipper Critters (complete) - $7.99 at GameStop
This puts my pinball game collection at 42.

Well, about an hour and a half after I made my last post, I wound up getting a couple Saturn games from a friend:

Virtua Cop
Virtua Fighter 2

Both were the "Not For Resale" pack-in versions packaged in cardboard sleeves, and both were FREE.

I'm surprised that you found anything priced less than $20 dollars at an FYE store. Jesus. D:

Heh. This FYE actually had several used PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and GBA games under $10, but 90% of those games could be had for cheaper elsewhere. They had a small stack of PS1 sports games as well, but I can't imagine any of them leaving that store anytime soon since the majority of them were $4.99 each.

I had to take a second look at the price tag to make sure that it wasn't mismarked as the first Lego Star Wars or something. So yeah, FYE usually isn't worth my time, but I'm glad that I went in there yesterday.

Here's my stuff from this week so far...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3216/2848567782_ac6946129a_b.jpg

Church Thrift (Monday):
Game magazines - $0.50 each
Comic Buyer's Guide from '06 - $2
Isaac Asimov's Fantastic Voyage II - $1, original copy too, lists him as "1920-" and the copyright is '87.
A Guide to the Star Wars Universe - $1
Serious Sam The Second Encounter - $2

Play N Trade (Last Night):
Earthworm Jim 1+2 - $5 each, I just now found an ugly Blockbuster sticker on 2... It should come off
PS2 Guncon2 AV intercept cable - They owed it to me from buying Time Crisis II last week, since they stuck all these cables in another box

GameStop (Tuesday):
Mega Man Network Transmission - $2.99
World Championship Poker - Free, guy was trading tons of stuff and I'm guessing they offered a penny for it. It's complete though.

Amazon (Arrived Yesterday):
Star Trek 25th Anniversary CD-ROM edition - $5.50 with shipping, seller used NO PACKING, just a manila envelope. The box corners ripped a bit, so I left him 3 stars, and he got all mad at me. He also described it as "with manual," but there's just an Interplay catalog and the reg card. Again, deserving of 3 stars. I've got the floppy version, so I have the manual for copy protection.

...though if that Interplay 10th Anniversary includes the CD version of this, I'd rather have that lol. Nice find there. Shame it doesn't include the sequel, which I liked a bit more.

How are those Star Trek games? I found a two game pack with Judgment Rites and 25th Anniversary on it, and I'm curious to try them out.

NayusDante

Those are my personal favorite Trek games. To my knowlege, there's only one or two other games with similar depth that I know of. Combine Wing Commander with a SCUMM adventure. There's two main aspects to play, being the Enterprise bridge and landing party. On the bridge, you can give orders to raise shields, arm veapons, divert power to systems, ask the computer to look up something, battle other space wessels, etc. The story advances forward when you proceed to the right star system for each episode (the map is in the manual), and beam down to the planet. From there, you command Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and sometimes Redshirts and other crew members. It's Star Trek, in the purest sense. From what little Star Trek Online info has come out, gameplay sounds similar.

So yeah, play them. The original actors did the voices for the CD versions (much preferred). Speaking of Star Trek, one of my local stations is airing the new "remastered" episodes. All the ships are CG and it SUCKS. Essentially, it's like the Star Wars DVDs and how they had all CG scenes instead of the 1977 version. Most illogical.

Got two more of my Virtual Boy games in the mail today:

- Galactic Pinball
- Golf

$50 for both, and they are both are CIB. Probably overpaid a bit, but I'm trying to finish my collection. Only three more to go to have all us virtual boy games CIB!!

Also, got these two PS3 games new and sealed for free!

- Eye of Judgement (with camera, mat, starter deck, and booster)
- Lair

I got out of work early this evening, and I was thinking about checking out the Goodwill that's a short walk from my place before going home. I'm glad I did, because I found a shmup I've wanted for some time:

The Snes game genie and book were $6 and Spider-Man was $3 at Goodwill.

So this chic and her son wanted $60 for this craigs list lot. I offered them $30 but they said it had too many games for that much so we agreed on $40. But atleast I saved $20:)

Now I have to decide what parts of it to sell. I was going to keep the N64 but then I remembered I have a Japanese import N64 that plays Japanese and US games.

That was the cheapest it was going for on ebay currently. All the others were $50 (or more) plus shipping. The $40 included shipping (the ROB was only $29 before it).

I think it may be the release of SSBB that triggered the wave of nostalgia for ROB.

Purchased the following as a lot purchase, all for $40.00, locally, a couple of days ago.

- Two Atari 2600 4-switch systems
- 11 relatively common Atari 2600 games, but there also was SW ROTJ Death Star Battle
- Nintendo NES Top Loader w/1 dogbone controller, grey Zapper gun as well
- Contra for NES
- Genesis Model 2 system
- 6 relatively common Colecovision games including Centipede which I don't usually see as often
- Misc controllers/power supplies

Paid an extra $10 for an original release TRS-80 Color Computer with a whopping 16K of memory!!

Everything was pretty dirty but once I cleaned it all up, everything looked good. All of it fired up without any problems at all. YAY!

From CircuitCity.com:

Hotel Dusk (DS) - ~$23 shipped.

I wouldn't order anything from CC.com, as on the outside of the package, they label what is being shipped - so anyone could have swiped the package if they wanted the game.

And WTF is this massive orange stripe on the game? I don't want this shit. Now I have to return it.

Someone I work with ordered Wii Fit from CC, and they did the same thing with the box it shipped in. In related matters, I sent my Wii in for repairs today and the shipping instructions specifically say to "avoid using the original box, as it may attract unwanted attention to the valuable items inside."

I stopped at the GameStop that's on my way home from work, I haven't been in there since before the 50% off sale tables sprung up. As it figures, they have the same junk as everyone else, maybe not as many copies of Sneak King (awwww). It also figures that I found several cheap games that I had to buy.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3180/2851236871_0caa9ef4c9_b.jpg

Guilty Gear X - $10
Shadow of Destiny $5, looked interesting
Mobile Light Force 2 - $4, Shikigami is awesome
Beyond Good & Evil - $5, I really want to see if it's the underrated masterpiece everyone makes it out to be
Deus Ex 2 - $3, the PC version felt awkward...

All of them are complete. I just hate those damn stickers.... >_<

So it scares me that I've found at least one game every day since Sunday. Sunday was Spore and Fatal Fury Collection, Monday was Serious Sam, Tuesday was Mega Man Network Transmission, Wednesday was Earthworm Jim 1-2, Thursday was Sonic 3D Blast, and now this stuff today. I'm afraid, what's going to happen tomorrow? I'm not addicted to cheap games, I don't have a problem, I don't have a problem.... I think I'm burned out for a week or so.

Haha, I had this exact same problem recently. That last-gen stuff is SO tempting at Gamestop--I had to cut myself off after a bit...but not after I got Network Transmission, Front Mission 4, Mad Maestro..and some original GB games (B2G1 free!).

Wow, nice pickups. I would probably jump on all these too (sans Beyond Good & Evil since I have it...and it is very good, especially for that price). I almost bought Castle of Shikigami 2...might go back. Kind of scared of the Mobile Light Force version haha. Let us know how Shadow of Destiny is...does look interesting!

All of them are complete. I just hate those damn stickers.... >_<

Easily the worst part about shopping there. ESPECIALLY those ones they put ON THE ACTUAL INSERT on the spine. It's painful. Most stores around me realized their error and started leaving the backing on the stickers so they didn't leave marks... but still... alot of titles (that I just happen to want) which they labeled before the switch, have had PLENTY of time to sit and get all sticky and semi-permanent :(

Mobile Light Force 2 (Castle of Shikigami 1) lacks the dialog sequences that Castle Shikigami 2 has, making it another shmup with the same characters, but completely unrelated cover art. The dialog in 2 was epic: "Oops, sorry! I'm a woman."

Shadow of Destiny is kinda neat, it's an adventure-puzzle game. Your character dies at the beginning, but some spirit gives him a means to travel through time to change his destiny and avoid death. Lots of walking around and using items, classic adventure-game stuff. For $5, pretty good.

RECENT trades to my local GameStops have the stickers still on backing, but only along the spine of the cases. Front and back corner stickers are still evil.

Ah yeah, that's what I meant about the stickers. Just old ones don't even have backing for spine stickers :(

Oh, I thought Mobile Light Force 2 had redone sprites for some reason. Or was that Mobile Light Force 1...argh, why can't they just release shmups as straight ports anymore :(

Thanks for the impressions on Shadow of Destiny...i'll keep an eye out for it on the cheap

That it is, a ton of endings though, very Outer Limits mees Quantum Leap type story. Also is a lot like the old LucasFilm / LucasArts adventure games but in 3D. I'm going to start playing it again once I finally finish Grandia III.

Silent Hill 2 (PS2, Complete, Non Greatest Hits) - $5

Good amount of Playstation 2 games at this yardsale (probably about 30-40ish) some other good ones like Shinobi & Shadow of Destiny (as I see mentioned recently in this thread and one of my favorite sleeper hits on the PS2) and some other decent games but nothing rare or really even worth $10 which was the asking prices per a game! They also had a fat PS2 with 2 1st controllers and 2 memory cards for $30 which was the cheapest I've seen a PS2 yet at a yardsale around me. I offered $5 for Silent Hill 2 which was taken.

Heart of Darkness (PC, CIJ) - .50
Unreal (PC, CIJ) - .50

Heart of Darkness even includes the 3D glasses never used. These actually came from a very small Flea Market a few blocks from where I live that just started this week that looks like it's going to be a weekly thing.

And the best part? A Game Boy Player with the disc for $15. It's a bit beat up at the bottom but it's otherwise fine. I wasn't going to buy it, but I'm a good customer so the seller lowered the price for me. It was attached to a Gamecube, and offered the whole shebang for $35, but I turned it down since I already own one. Still, not bad.

And I feel stupid because he has CIB copies of WRECKING CREW and Golvelius, there which I am going to go pick up tomorrow morning. :p

Ah I've always loved mine. Too bad it was during a time when my GB collection... for lack of a better word... sucked.

couple nice things yesterday and today.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds114.jpg

Starship Titanic complete set with audiobook and 3D glasses - $1. Not priced, she said 5 when I asked, I said, oh, I was thinking a dollar. so she said 2.50, when I hesitated she said 1.50, then okay I'll take a dollar. Not a good bargainer, but 5 was definitely more than I would have paid, though I didn't know it had the audiobook (which I've listened to) at that point. Acid guide was .5, Police quest was a quarter, the 3 N64 games were $4 at a garage sale, and Rampage was 3.8 at a thrift. Gen games and Max were 1.8 each at the same thrift. PE was .5 and MGS2 was 1. So, nothing too crazy, but pretty cheap.

And time to totally geek out:
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds114han.jpg
Han was a small pocketfull of change (.43 if my quick count was correct). This was at the same sale as Titanic, I just saw han as I left since he was in an odd position. She wanted me to take one of those (now yellowed) small Macs with the built-in screen w/ keyboard and external HDD(?) for 25 cents and she'd include Han. Now that I check, I should have done that because those Macs are worth a bit (!?!?). I have one, but just the bare computer.

Today I went to Goodwill turn the corner and right there is the game stuff, usually crappy, like 4 dollar sports games. Well I saw a Sonic 2 in the box for 3 which was more then I was willing to pay but since I sold all my sega stuff I thought'd I'd just buy it but I looked in the case and it was some madden game in a sonic 2 case...

Anyways I got a Doom2 strategy guide and Pokemon yellow strategy guide. I wish I could find some magazines there cause they're 89cents each :D

Well, my family went to the flea market today.... Figures. I'll start my break tomorrow, yeah that's it, tomorrow...

So one time, I was in this computer shop that sold mostly old hardware, random stuff, things like that. I was amazed to see a computer game box sitting next to some broken hard drives. Daggerfall! Inside, however, were game manuals, no disks. I put it back, checked if it was still there each time I came. Today, I figured, I can get the box and order a disk-only copy from Amazon someday. I asked them "still got the box of manuals? How much?" They took $3. Here's what's inside:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3097/2854465730_6495c00046_b.jpg

Daggerfall Box + Manual
Daggerfall Strategy Guide
Myst Journal - NOT written in! My friend had one of these, we always thought it was cool.
2x Myst Manual - Both from the ORIGINAL Windows version, not the Red Orb release; yes, one is darker than the other, go figure
Warcraft Manual
Warcraft II manual
Diablo Manual
Quake II Manual
Half-Life Manual
Qin - some Mystlike, includes manual, catalog, and order form for other titles
Qin Adventure Log - Somebody wrote Daggerfall notes in it, quite a lot too. They also wrote price quotes on a tool box and stuff.

I think it was worth $3...

Then I made my way to the movies+games shop, with another game booth right across. They both sorta work together. I got into a conversation with some random guy about everything from GameStop not liking Play N Trade's recent expansion in our area, to something about DP and RFGeneration working on a price guide together (huh?). Anyway, they marked down their PC stuff, and they had a bunch of Dreamcast games in a box on the counter.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2853632641_e30330c978_b.jpg

Morrowind GOTY - $6 - Aside from the rip on the back side, looks new. All four disks plus manual. Morrowind, both expansions, and the Construction Set all on separate disks.
Battledrome - $5 - I had this one a while back, it's supposedly the arena fighter counterpart to Earthsiege, but I was always more a fan of Cyberstorm, the strategy series in that universe. It's SEALED.
The Sims Livin' Large - $3 - Complete with catalog and advertisements for Red Alert 2 and stuff.
Star Trek Bork - $2 - With manual
Elemental Gimmick Gear - $7
Industrial Spy: Operation Espionage - $8

Not really steals by any means, but I am still jealous? Funny how that works. Maybe it's my secret wish of finding EGG in the wild. Anyways, good games, they both look in great cond.

Haha, thanks guys.

Nemesis is a good time. I haven't gotten too in-depth with it yet as I've been busy with other pickups, but with the few rounds I played through on the Super GB, I'd give it a thumbs up. The best I can describe it, is as a mini-Gradius (or "chibi" if you know what I mean...everything is just a bit..squatter, haha). I don't know how different it really is from Gradius itself, but wiki tells me Nemesis is the european name for Gradius? So maybe not much?

It's the first shmup I've played on the GB (aside from Iridon 3D...), and I was plesantly surprised by the controls. Pick it up if you see it on the cheap.

Went to Value Village in Charlotte today and found TMNT: Hyperstone Heist and Jungle Strike for the Genesis. They were 4.10 each.

This is technically an August find, but I finally got around to taking pics.
I won this on eBay from a U.S. seller for only $1.75! :D

Now I'm torn between opening Battledrome and firing it up, or keeping it sealed, considering that there's a sealed copy on Amazon for $30. The box is a little pushed in, but it's still sealed. Then again, not sure if I could get that price sticker off...

Today I passed up on a couple of games at a pawn shop for the PS1:
King's Field, Deathtrap Dungeon, Excalibur 2555 A.D.
As upon inspecting the discs they were resurfaced and had terrible rings that destroyed good chunks of data on them. Otherwise I would have picked them up and were priced $2 each. What I did end up picking up was for the Gameboy:
Dragon's Lair: The Legend (L - $5)

At a thrift store I found some official Playstation zipper case for a reviewer or something. I let a friend purchase it as it had a notebook, Playstation pen, several sleaves for stashing CDs, and a foam cut on the back for sticking 4 memory cards. There was a card inside with some guys name and access information, whatever it went to. Very strange, but we believe it was handed out at some offical Sony meeting.

Finally, running by a local game store my friend sold a copy of Sim City for the SNES and picked me up a copy of On the Ball (CIB) that was recently traded in, was priced at $1. He used the rest of hi trade-in and more on a DS game. I wasn't aware of OtB being released on the SNES, which came as a suprise when it was spotted in a stack of boxed SNES titles. There's another great CIB Taito game for me. :)

I won the survey raffle at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, and my prize was an Atari 2600 and some games. Everything arrived in the mail today. Here's what I got:

-A Vader 2600 w/ two Wico Command Control joysticks and hookups
-Ten games:
Blackjack
Combat
Donkey Kong
Gravitar
Joust
Mario Bros.
Missile Command
Pac-Man
Space Attack
Space Invaders

Space Invaders is complete and everything else is cart only. I also got a cart holder that holds 12 carts, and a black Alone In The Dark t-shirt. All in all, a sweet prize and a nice starter collection for the 2600. :)

Along with that, another game arrived from Amazon:

NGPC:
Puzzle Link 2 (w/cart case) - $5.12 shipped
This puts me at 10 NGPC games. :)

If handed out at some sony meeting you mean sold at places like the Sony Metreon's PlayStation store, as well as given out to PlayStation Underground members for free (thats how I got mine) then you're totally on the ball. I think retail on them is/was 20 bucks.

I left a laptop at his place so I may swing by there today and take a picture of the booklet, posting it in here. Otherwise we have no clue of its orgins but nifty for carrying PS CDs and some memory cards.

So here are the pics:

I don't believe Andrew Brown will mind since it's a generic name and couldn't immediately link him to another Andrew Brown online.

And here's his Snatcher:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/cyberfluxor/snatcher.jpg

He swapped the Grid Runner case with Snatcher to avoid bothering with the black and red price markings on the case, not too visible with the camera phone though.

A few days ago I picked up X-Men: Children of the Atom (no instruction manual/cover) for the Saturn for $3.93, and Gundam Side Story for the Dreamcast for $9.99. A couple days ago I picked up Bee 52 for the NES, along with Fight Night for the Atari 7800 and Jr. Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, all loose. $4.99 for Bee 52 and $1.99 for Fight Night and Jr. Pac-Man.

Oh, that comment was just based on the avg. ebay price of it which seems to be ~$10 or so. Not saying it wasn't a good find (as I stated my wish of finding it in the wild...) or that I wouldn't have pounced on it myself, haha. It just wasn't a "ZOMG Snatcher" find.

Hit up some sales today during our town-wide garage sale event. But all the good stuff had definitely been taken eons before I got out there (totally forgot about the sale until I was out driving about yesterday around 4ish...), so of course, I return empty-handed :( Oh well...there's always next year?
