I got the Super Nintendo yesterday at Goodwill for $9.99, there is no yellowing on it what so ever.

The Atari 2600 I also got yesterday from Value Village for 19.99, came with 3 controllers. The Atari was so dirty I had to take a picture of it before and after. The inside of the Atari was disgusting...all this unknown brown stuff...looked like a battery exploded inside of it. Found a few little spiders inside of it also. Took awhile to get everything cleaned.

The Intellivision I got for $50, got marked down from $100 at my local thrift store (If it doesn't sell within 2 weeks, its half off) came with 36 games and the organizer.

Final Fantasy 8 was $5 totally mint.

Today I also bought Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 for the NES from a pawn shop for $5 a piece.

Also picked up 5 Atari 2600 games for $2 a piece, nothing to amazing just commons.

If anybody is curious, I uploaded pictures of the Atari before and after I cleaned it. Just click this link.

I found SNATCHER for SEGA CD at Goodwill in Houston, today. Case and manual in great condition.

No disc, though. Talk about a high turning into a low.

I asked if they might know what happened, but they said what I already knew - it had been stolen. What frustrates me is that someone would steal a disc to avoid paying $2.99 for a complete copy of Snatcher. I asked if I could keep the case and they said sure.

So free Snatcher case and manual (glass half full)!

Responded to a Craigslist ad:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/Ebay2083.jpg

$50 for everything, including the N64 cords, a rumble pack, and two memory cards. But finally, at long last, OGRE BATTLE 64!!! I am sooooo happy to have finally found one! With manual even! Let me tell you, they are in immaculate condition. This is only the second OB I have seen in the wild, the first was at a GameStop and in pretty crappy condition. So with this and THPS, I now only need THPS3 and I will have my entire want list of US N64 games!

Nice find! Weren't those gold controllers special somehow? I'm probably confusing things since I'm really not well informed on N64 stuff, but it is worth double checking.

When I saw the gold controller, my heart almost skipped a beat. When I went into his apartment he had a bunch of consoles old and new, so I was hoping maybe he had gotten the gold controller from EGM, but alas, it is just a generic gold controller. However that is replacing the old gray one on my N64 set.

I hate that. Half of the cases in my Goodwill seem to be empty. I can just picture the types of people who steal the discs too, and I want to punch them in the face. I'd bet money that whoever stole that Snatcher doesn't even have a Sega CD, they just saw it was a game and decided to steal it. It's Goodwill people! If you absolutely have to steal something go to Walmart, leave Goodwill alone.

I normally don't report on what I pick up at GameStop but I was surprised on my lunch break the other day when I walked in and found 2 Wavebirds. They aren't uncommon or anything but they normally don't last when they are in the stores either so I was pretty happy. Also, I picked up a copy of Mobile Light Force 2 which I couldn't find for some reason for a little while even though it is just a $4 game.

Gex
Croc
Tomb Raider
Dragonheart: Fire & Steel
Virtua Fighter Remix
Saturn Choice Cuts sampler

I got all of that for $30. Not a great deal, but some stuff that I can use.

decent morning at garage sales and a couple thrifts.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds115.jpg

DDR and Time Crisis were marked 3 each and I got them for 5. Unlimited Saga and PSO were marked $8 each, and I paid 5 each and also bought BeyBlade for a dollar. Not sure why I got it other than it is mint and, well, it was only a buck. Nunchuck was $5 at a GW, and Sonic I also only got because it is mint, CIB, and was 1.80.

Was kind of bummed that a TI-83+ I picked up doesn't work, but it was at GW, so I can return it (unless someone here wants it for 10 shipped).

Ataris are easy to get looking new as long as they're not truly beat up. You can just take out the insides and drop both halves of the shell in the sink like a load of dishes. After some quality time in the warm soapy water and some TLC from a toothbrush, those puppies will look like you just pulled them from the box. A little packing tape and card stock over the serial number will save that gem as well. For anything else that's not so sink friendly, Windex has always been my savior.

For just one example (and man, do I wish I had taken before and after pictures as you had) my manager gave me a couple of Atari 2600s that were just dirty as hell. One of them was a Vader but I didn't find that out until after I washed all the dirt off the thing - I'm not kidding. Now they both sit proudly and seriously get complimented on being the nicest Ataris some people have ever seen.

Luckily about a month later at half price books i found a mint blast lacrosse complete for .99. I was so happy. So now i have the extra case and manual laying around.

Lol i paid less for the complete copy. Stupid half price books.

the metal pads in DDR suck... Unless thats because all kids in my school break them because they hate DDR. According to my teacher they cost like $50.00 each.
You have DDR at school?

Grand total was $48. The PS2 works great and also came with the dvd remote and hookups. NES was in a free pile at a sale... haven't tested it yet. SNES came from a sale where they had a bunch of crap, but they asked me what I was looking for. After I said video games, one of them asked me how much I might spend for something like that. I figured getting in the door (so to speak) was better than her saying 'never mind', so I said maybe 20 bucks. So when she brought me in to see the SNES, I figured I wouldn't dicker around at that point. I needed Tetris/Dr. Mario and maybe tetris 2 (have to check).
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds116.jpg

And now I own my very own Game Station. It is cool, because it has "High Definition Graphics", "3D Effects", and "dynamic stereo sound" (despite only having 1 composite audio out). I've seen one of these posted in this thread before, but I'd forgotten how blatantly they use Mario, et. al. on the box. It is CIB, too, I just didn't get out the gun/controllers. Works great. Only checked a couple of the games, but they appear to be the usual sort of thing repeated. Has 'Pika', which is PikaChu on the title screen and is a SMB hack with terrible music and inexplicable character and enemy designs.

And last is what appears to be the entire run of Japanese Sega Dreamcast Magazine disc with picture sleeves. Not a bad start for this month.

2xtreme
World's Wildest Police Chases

Picked up a complete G Darius for $5 from the Salvation Army

and last of all I pick up Tales from the Crypt Season 1 dvd set for $5 from Value Village

Yes, I have DDR at school... I swear my school is rich.. We have 8 HDTV, we play on. The funny thing is though, we play on the OG X-box... LOL
Once a year we have a video game tournament... No, not DDR, but the latest Maddden.

My teacher told me it's either we play DDR, or the state says we do actual dancing.

Then again, maybe I should start a Thread about this.... LOL

My cousins go to a school system in Jersey and it seems like the type of schools you see in the movies/tv shows. Lots of programs, beautiful buildings, very competitive. It makes me wonder how I would have turned out if I didn't go to the sorely underfunded and overcrowded NYC public school system for all those years.

Spongebob Squarepants: Legend of The Lost Spatula (GBC)
Top Gear Pocket (GBC)

$8

Found this at the second sale I went to today that I got to at about 8:15 that wasen't gone by that time even with all of this in a bag marked $8. I didn't even bother haggling down since it had somebody's initial by the price. I didn't think it would be good yetiquette either to try and offer less to the two nice old ladies running the sale seeing as $8 was good already. They also had some PS2 games each marked $4 that I passed on only one I would have grabbed if I didn't already own it was a greatest hits copy of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

Saturdays seem less competitive in my area this year and I've even seen some Saturday sales that seem about dead shortly after 8 this year even when it was nice out not just today late in the Yardsaling season. I would think that I'd have a much better chance of missing something like this GBA with games cheap if it was at a Friday sale. A good chunk of the yardsalers around here must go out Friday only with the way gas prices are.

I passed on some PS2 games at a sale that I heard the lady say were a buck each to somebody else. They had about 10 games but nothing I'd ever really get around to playing and had little to no interest in so I didn't grab any even if a buck is about as cheap as PS2 games get.

I went to 9 sales and 3 out of the 9 of them had steering wheel controllers which is definately one of the biggest video game drecks that people having a yardsale put out that sits around and don't sell. Reminded me of an episode of Married with Children I was watching yesterday were Al said that people only sell junk at yardsales :D

Stopped at a flea market today and picked up a few games. I got these PS1 games:

Puzznic
Spin Jam
Chessmaster 3-D
Vigilante 8:Second Offense

All were complete for $1 each. At another booth, I passed up some XBox and PS2 sports games that they had for less than $1 each. I went to another flea market where an older guy had 3 Genesis games for a total of 25 cents. The games were Barkley, Shut up and Jam 1 + 2, and Jammit. I passed these by because I couldn't justify spending a quarter on them.

It was supposed to be a joke about the state making them dance. It was early in the morning when I was reading the DDR post. Sorry, I forgot you guys have no sense of humor in the Finds thread. :D

Anyway, I picked up the Atari Jaguar lot today from the guy on Craigslist who wanted $45 that I had posted in my query post earlier. I was able to get him down to $40 for it thanks to a suggestion from fellow DP member 1 2 P.

Jaguar system (loose) with 2 controllers and cords
Alien vs. Predator (complete)
Cybermorph (loose)
Flashback (complete)
NBA Jam (complete)
Raiden (complete)

The system is a bit dusty and will require some cleaning before I try it out, but the games, boxes and instructions were pristine.

Yard sales were garbage today, so I went back to my storage unit to continue to empty it out. It's not a find really since I already own this stuff, but I did locate a box that had a bunch of my sealed domestic and Japanese DS and GBA games in it. I'd forgotten that I bought the Japanese versions of Metal Saga, Xenosaga I & II and Yu Yu Hakusho for DS last spring...time to find an online FAQ to translate.

this is my first decent score in years. got all of this on craigslist for 30 bucks..it had been sitting on there for almost a week. i more then likely could have got it for less, but hey it was worth it.

Damn dude, nice find. Lots like that don't last an hour here.

Look on the bottom and see if the model number is SCPH-1001.

If so, you have something equivalent to a $6000 CD player.

So I yank out the SNES..(NICE) and the guy starts sorting the games and systems out on a table neatly....
I ask,"do you have the wires for it,it's connections?"..He says yes,in tha box...
How much?
He says'$10.00 for the SNES (with it's hook ups)..$2.00 per game..Cool,so I grab Super Mario World and I'm up to $12.00
His wife tries to help to get out the connections but is fighting with the PS controllers tangled up..I tell her that they are for the Playstation and explan what is what in the box per system.
The stuff was so tangled that she gave up and her husband says"I'll make you a deal,Give me $20.00 and take everything"

Sweeet!!!..
So we pile it all back into the bin QUICK,pay the $20.00 and I'm off..

With the Systems and some games out.(mess of tangled wires)

Kind of need to vent on this find, as I ended up turning it down after some bullshit.

I went to the only game store near me that has anything older than PS2 today while I was on break from work. Right when you walk in, there's a bin of PS1 and N64 games. Some of the N64 games are in generic cases and some are in original boxes, but most of it isn't anything I ever want so I never bought any N64 games from this place. I've bought tons of other stuff though; hang out on a semi-regular basis and chat with the owner/manager about all kinds of game nonsense.

Anyway, I take a look in the bin today and there's a copy of Majora's Mask Collectors Edition CIB for $10. Now, I've already got MM:CE but it's just the cartridge, so I was gonna buy this and sell my other one even though I collect very few games in box as far as older systems go (just the favorites, mostly). He keeps all the carts behind the counter, so you bring the box up and he'll find the matching cart (in case someone steals the case, only to find out there's no game in it later...).

I set the box on the counter, he fingers through the row of games and pulls up two copies of MM - one NFR and one with the whole hologrammy whatever label. Since I already have the CE cart, I thought about taking the NFR but it was in kinda shoddy condition, so I went with the CE. He rings it up, and gets a bag then tosses the cart in with my receipt and hands it to me, with the box now sitting behind the counter.

I'm like "uh...I don't get the box?" and he's like "No?" as if I were crazy or something. I told him "that's pretty much the only reason I wanted it, I already have the damn game" and so he goes "well I'll just return it then." So he gave me my money back and I just walked out totally baffled. I don't even remember what sort of two-bit explanation he gave, but I will certainly let him know what I think of this bullshit.

I'm taking some duplicate 360 games I have that are disc-only up there to trade them in tomorrow, except I'll put them in the cases I have for my other copies. And when I get there, I'll set the games on the counter, and unload each disc into a small pile and ask him how much.

"Huh? What about the cases?"
"Well - what about them? You don't sell them anyway, right?"

Then when I go to get Fable II this month, I'll act like I'm totally shocked to get "the case and everything." I'm just stewing over this and coming up with as many nonsense smart-ass antics as I can to show him what I think.

Kinda reminds me of what happened to me once. I went into a game store and they had an Aero the Acrobat 2 box sitting there. Of course I wanted it and I offered to buy the game too. They said I couldn't have the box. Why? Just incase they get in another copy of Aero the Acrobat 2. :grrr:

Reminds me of a time I went into a Goodwill and saw a Sonic and Knuckles box, but there was no game because someone stole it.

You think they would be smart enough to keep those up front so no one steals it.

The 1 2 P - I've always been curious about the MK Mythologies games. I played a bit of Sub Zero a while ago and it seemed decent.

There was only one MK Mythology game starring Sub-Zero, although there was a second offshoot on the PS1 starring Jax and Sonya. The Sub-Zero game was alot of fun, but even I'll admit it wasn't the best game ever. I hated having to press a button just to face the other way, but I still have very fond memories of playing it.

You can have some lexan cut to size at a Lowe's, should run you about $30.00 or so - $14.00 or so if you want a more standard grade (optiplex).

Do you think a DDR pad needs a good grade of it? Probably because people will be jumping around on it...

At least the middle grade (optiplex), don't buy the cheap duraplex stuff because it'll break if you look at it wrong.

Well, as stated, it's really not worth anything more than the other models.. I figured I'd add to this simply to explain why it's actually desired though.

It's not just the RCA outs (The A/V multi-out is better to use if you don't plan on modding it, since it skips a pair of Op-amps). The DAC in the 1001 is pretty killer for the price (there were a bunch of stupid-ass rumors about it being better than a $1000 player). No way is that true, but for $5-15, you can't really get a better CD Player.

Also, for those who are interested, the SCPH-5001 also share the same DAC, it just loses the RCA outs. Unless you are pretty good with soldering, and have a fair understanding of electronic components... that 5001 will do just fine :)

... Doesn't the thing come with an A/V out cable which still has RCA plugs? Does the cable make a difference when it comes to sound quality?
