Hey guys, I just logged into my club nintendo account this morning, and behold! All of the games that I registered before club nintendo are now showing up with surveys that need to be done in the to-do list. It is sloooow tho.

Well, whoop-de-doo when only a handful of games are deemed to be worthy of coins. As I wrote before, EVEN Twilight Princess GCN (which code I entered this morning) isn't recognized for coins. Fuck that.

How many did you have registered before Club Nintendo, and what games? I have all of these registered, and only the ones in bold have surveys:
1. Nintendo GameCube - 11/20/2003
2. Nintendo DS - 5/20/2005
3. Nintendo Channel - 11/21/2008
4. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - 12/28/2003
5. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - 12/28/2003
6. Mario Power Tennis - 7/21/2005
7. Super Mario 64 DS - 5/20/2005
8. Star Fox: Assault - 7/21/2005
9. Yoshi Touch & Go - 5/20/2005
10. Polarium - 7/21/2005
11. Donkey Konga 2 - 6/11/2008
12. Kirby: Canvas Curse - 7/21/2005
13. Nintendogs - Dachshund - 6/11/2008
14. Batallion Wars - 6/11/2008
15. Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness - 6/11/2008
16. Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix - 6/11/2008
17. Animal Crossing: Wild World - 6/11/2008
18. Mario Kart DS - 6/11/2008
19. New Super Mario Bros. - 6/11/2008
20. Big Brain Academy - 6/11/2008
21. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team - 6/11/2008
22. Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis - 6/11/2008
23. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) - 6/11/2008
24. Super Paper Mario - 6/11/2008
25. Picross DS - 6/11/2008
26. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - 6/11/2008
27. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - 6/11/2008
28. Super Mario Galaxy - 6/11/2008
29. Super Smash Bros Brawl - 6/11/2008
But I'm not going to complain, we are getting the items for FREE.
I thought the surveys would be questions about the game to further prove that you own the game.

This is a service to get people to buy new games. Why would Nintendo offer bonuses for systems it no longer supports? makes no sense.
Misto
12-17-2008, 02:29 PM
There is a list of games that are supported in the FAQ that where made before 2008. No Gamecube or GBA games are supported though.
Also I did a survey for one game and got zero coins...

Well, I don't give a shit, Twilight Princess GCN should be an exception! It was released AFTER the Wii version, and both are identical aside from the control scheme and the mirrored image.

Uh-oh! Now in "My Account Settings", it says "No products registered". So that big list of games is gone or isn't showing up anymore.
I think I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before I mess with this....
I hope the Hanafuda deck doesn't disappear before I get 800 points.

I highly doubt that any of the prizes are going to be gone very soon. Besides if you registered everything thats possible, at best you'd be able to come away with maybe 2000 total points right now.

They need to offer bonuses because Nintendo's fans are not getting recognition for keeping them in business. I'm angry because I have been a diehard Nintendo fan since my NES on Christmas of 1985 and NOW Nintendo won't return the favor. Listen, I don't think I DESERVE anything but after spending thousands of dollars on Nintendo product while preaching the gospel of Nintendo and then Nintendo tells me that I can only earn these coins but not on 95% of my library is ludicrous. I can see them not allowing it on anything on N64 and before but I think it is BS that they are not allowing Gamecube and GB Advance games. Nintendo has really angered MANY fans this time.

Cry me a river. They implement a program that gives you FREE shit and you complain? Fucking crybaby. What you got all those years were fun games to play. What else are you owed? No one asked you to "preach the gospel of Nintendo", as you put it. Grow up and get the free stuff you have coming. If you are as big a fanboy as you sound you already have enough points for most of the things on there.

It's free if you spent the initial $50+ per game to get the points for the $15 deck of cards.
Oh, wait, that's not free at all.....

Give it some time, if they are serious about running this club thing, we'll get better prizes in a few months. That SNES Wii controller sounds rather nice...

It is indeed free. You didn't just hand over $50 for nothing. Now you can enter a code from that game and get something entirely new. That is FREE.

Someone doesn't know how to add.
Wii games = 50 coins
Wii games = $50+
Cards = 800 coins
That's 16 Wii games worth of points, at $50+ a pop, your FREE gift (a pack of $15 cards) cost you $800+. And that's not even figuring in each $50+ game has a lot more + in it, not including tax.
EDIT: And for the record, I think the hanafuda cards a great prize, just not for what they want for it. I'll wait until I can get a set on eBay and save my coins for the OSTs.

I think the DS Game & Watch Collection looks nice - but only three games? Why not the whole Game & Watch library?!?
Buying $50 Wii games just to get coins for the rewards isn't cost effective. I fully expect to see people offering PIN codes for sale/trade.
Anyone up for a little Blockbuster dumpster diving? :)

Games cost the same whether they have codes or not. So the codes are included free. 16 free Wii codes = free stuff :D

You realize that to get the free code, you have to buy the not free game, right? You're blowing the money either way, regardless of what semantics you want to throw at me.
Now that I think about it, Game & Watch Collection would be the best deal if it came with a code itself.

The website seems to be working fine right now. I was able to transfer all of my games after answering the same ridiculous survey 10+ times.
Now do I blow my coins or wait for the good stuff? I can't even imagine how many coins it would take to get the Wii "SNES" controller.

I'm wondering if I should wait to take all the surveys and take them after June or whenever to go for Platinum again. Is anybody else taking this strategy? The surveys say they don't expire until 2011-2013..

You kinda implying that people are buying the game just for the code, when he says "free" he's implying that they're gonna buy the damn game anyway. Which is the real scenario, so the club nintendo stuff really is just like a free bonus.

Listen, I even stated in my post that I don't feel that that I am owed anything by Nintendo or any company(read the post). What I am saying is that Nintendo has the means and ability (aka. funding) to make their customers happy by allowing Gamecube and Gameboy Advance games to be logged yet they refuse to do so. This is obviously a sour subject to many Nintendo fans and as a Nintendo fan I reflect that. I just see it as poor customer service and I choose not to support a company that doesn't strive for that satisfaction (especially when they are VERY financially capable to do so). I have to be honest, the ONLY thing that sparks my interest with the points is the Game & Watch DS game (which I would have enough coins for with DS & Wii games alone) so this has nothing to do with me "wanting free stuff". The issue with me is that Nintendo has become (if not already) a low price commodity in the gaming market. Everything from product quality control, customer service, factory productivity is going downhill from here and I don't want to support a company that does not see their customer as #1 priority (be it me or ANY other Nintendo fan......even those who are trash talking me).

Why? That has nothing to do with my posts. Regardless of clubs or not Nintendo is getting to be a company run completely by accountants and not game developers. Sure, making profit for shareholders IS the reason that Nintendo (or any other public company) exists but if Nintendo want's the money of the increasingly growing disgruntled fan base then they have to realize that they need to give their fans what they want (within reason). Now, it's completely reasonable that Nintendo let players register GBA games and Gamecube games for coins given their extremely large and rapidly growing bankroll. I can see them disallowing Gamcube and GBA games if Nintendo were on the ropes and were gasping for breath but obviously this is not the case. I can easily see Nintendo get in the same position they were in before the Wii. Their going to have some accountant tell them that they can hold back more production, charge more for less of a console, put more restrictions on these "coins", etc. because the fan base is not going to care because they are the mighty Nintendo and they are loved by all and the math on the paper shows that they can't possibly lose. Well, let me tell you this has been the downfall of many companies in the past and the EXACT same monster is starting to show it's ugly head with this "small" administrative decision.

What are you even talking about? Because Nintendo is doing well as a company they should give you free shit? That makes no sense, specially with the world's economies as they are. Why do you feel so entitled?
This is a voluntary program that gives you free stuff for games you probably already own. If you don't like it, don't participate.
You know, after reading your posts I feel entitled to something free. From now on I will collect one coin for every one of your posts. Unfortunately for me this does not include posts prior to May 1, 2008. When I collect enough coins I will redeem them for some free stuff. The stuff you have sucks, so I'll be forced to save my coins hoping for something better in the future. This program sucks.

Did you even read all of my posts? I said that I can see why they would not honor any of their systems before Gamecube and Gameboy Advance. That would not be reasonable for Nintendo to do that and that would not be practical. Honoring the Gameboy Advance and Gamecube would be very reasonable. Listen, I don't understand why all of the people thrashing me do not understand that this has NOTHING to do with getting free stuff. It has EVERYTHING to do with how Nintendo is becoming a company STRICTLY run by the bottom line while kicking customer satisfaction to the curb. Nintendo absolutely will not and can not survive if they keep on this path. How long will it take the new Nintendo fans to turn away because of these BS policies? When Nintendo alienates these new "non-gamer" fans then who else can they turn to? I know that the fans in the "hardcore" gamer group are already leaving them in droves. Many purists that hate DLC and refuse to pay $5 for a SMB game are leaving. You have people leaving because a they can't play a Japanese game because it's locked out by territory. People are leaving because they can't even get their hand on a Wii because of a 2+ year factory "shortage". These are REAL sticking points for gamers that can't be ignored. Thrash me all you want but this is happening NOW and there is no way to deny it.

Thrash me all you want but this is happening NOW and there is no way to deny it.
let me get this straight. Nintendo brings a program to the US that gives away free stuff for buying their games and they are kicking customer satisfaction to the curb? Do you think your posts through before you press submit?

Ok here is what happened to me, somehow I had two accounts one for My Nintendo and one for the store. Both had the same email address. After speaking with a customer service, they told me that they had a memo that stopped the emailing of password resets and My Nintendo to Club Nintendo account transfer activation email. After they eliminated one of my emails, my password reset request was immediate. Then I filled out my name, age and email to transfer my account. Club Nintendo's site script showed that my account is transfered yadda yadda. I get an email with a link to activate the account. Hopefully this helps with people with Club Nintendo activation/transfer problems.
Well, it went well for me at least. I migrated the ol' My Nintendo account through their automated setup to the new Club Nintendo system, and it picked up any of my old games that were eligible for surveys (and coins). There were only about 5 of 'em.
Then I went to my Nintendo shelf in the game room and pulled all the registration codes I'd been saving up since they first hinted that Club Nintendo might be coming to the USA. I guess it's been a while, because I had a good sized stack of Wii and DS papers.
A couple hours and many surveys later, I've got 1,220 coins and a nice shiny Platinum icon next to my name. Now I'm just waiting for something other than the Game & Watch Collection to catch my eye.

I registered all my stuff earlier tonight...I am sitting on 730 points right now. I love that they finally offered this here in the US though :) I do wish that system would give you some points, and that any game you register would at least give you like 10 points just for the trouble of doing it. I understand the survey part of it being worth more, but why not give you something for logging in and typing out the codes? Big thumbs up to finally have this since Japan has had it for years.

I think you are missing the real point of this program, which is to gather data from the surveys regarding advertising methods.
What possible value can obtaining advertising data from two platforms declared dead 2-3 years ago give Nintendo? The data is obviously outdated, and the incredibly vast majority of what people enter would be hazy as memory blurs over time - making it useless.
Adding older games to their system adds absolutely no value to the company or the consumer, even if you think it does.

i was having the same problem alot of people had, after merging the old club with the new it would take me back to the login page, which was solved when i used firefox, anyway i was able to take the surveys and am now at platinum status, but i havent merged my wii vc games yet.
hopefully theyll offer the wii sfc controller. also looks like your points expire once a year around the summer.

They expire? Fuck that then. I don't buy enough Nintendo stuff to ever make this worth the effort. Considering a simple game case costs 300 coins, how many games a year do they think people buy?

I think their logic was more along the lines of 600points Platinum Status = 12 Wii games = 1 per month
The points expire, but every 2 years. Just your status is reset every year.
How can I reach Gold or Platinum status?
Gold or Platinum status is based on the number of Coins earned in a Club Nintendo year. Each Club Nintendo year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. If you earn 300 Coins during a Club Nintendo year you will reach Gold status. Earn 600 Coins during a Club Nintendo year and reach Platinum status!
Club Nintendo members that reach Gold or Platinum status by the end of the Club Nintendo year, will be sent a special reward. Special rewards will be announced shortly after June 30 and shipped later in the year.
Your status will reset annually on June 30.
Why are my Coins listed with an expiration date?
Unredeemed Coins will expire two (2) full Club Nintendo years (July 1 - June 30), plus whatever is left in the current Club Nintendo year, after they are earned. Example: Coins earned in March 2009 would not expire until June 30, 2011.
