Dude, that's an excellent buy! Why, I would have expected to pay exactly $80 if I had bought just the Genesis and Sega CD combo via Craigslist!

I payed that for just a Saturn. Great find. Avoid "Mansion of the Hidden Souls" for the Sega CD though, its a terrible FMV search adventure game with an amusingly cheesy and bad opening. Which Sega 32X cartridge is that in picture 2?

Very nice. Well worth what you paid for it, but you probably know that already.

Nice find! I'm a little surprised sellers bother with these... he's got to be paying a ton to ship that.

Alot of people keep telling me that(including someone I sold one to here on DP as part of another deal) but I have several PS1 memory cards, including an unopen three pack somewhere. If they are really hard to find I should start selling them as well.

I think its just some common racing game....the seller didn't mention its name in the actual listing.

Yep, all the games are CIB.

For anyone wondering how I managed to get this so cheap, it was listed incorrectly under the Everything Else category.

Hit a bunch of thrifts in the area, found nothing at all. I got frustrated and decided to drive far out of my usual range and re-hit a bunch I went to last week, because I wanted to see if they still had a Shogun Warrior toy I found at a store there. Sure enough, it was still there, missing spring-loaded fist and all. I also bought Defenders of Oasis for the Game Gear, Samurai Shodown 2 and Metal Slug 1st Mission for the Neo-Geo Pocket Color. Then I came across a Coleco Electronic Quarterback handheld, still turned on from the last brat that messed with it. The Shogun Warrior was $3.19, the game carts were $5.19 each, and the Coleco handheld was $2.19.

At another thrift I found the longbox Jumping Flash for the Playstation for $5.19 (complete), at a Goodwill I bought the Robotech VJ-19 Changer model (still shrinkwrapped!) for $1.99, and at a used game store down the street I bought this American Laser Games light gun labeled "Sega CD compatible" for $7.99. But to me, especially from the plug, it looks to be a 3DO light gun. I don't know if light guns were interchangeable between the Genesis and the 3DO, so I don't know if it's compatible. Maybe I'm just hoping it's 3DO compatible, since I have a lot of shooting games for the console. Can anyone confirm what this is?

Edit: If anyone's looking for manga books translated into Filipino, let me know. I found a store with heaps of 'em. Although half of them seemed to be based on the cartoon Case Closed (I think that's it's name, or Detective Conan or something?).

I was in Wal-Mart the other night looking for computer related stuff (probably not the best place to look but the only place open at that hour) and I happened upon a few of the TNG seasons in their TV/Boxsets section.

Sorry guys - I didn't see that someone responded to my post. I got them at Costco. They had plenty more. I'd suggest that you check out your local Costco and see if they have them there.

I'm told that they had seasons 1, 2 and 3 as well, but they sold out. That's fine. I don't really care for seasons 1 and 2 anyway :)

I was also told by a Costco employee to keep an eye on these prices and that they may be reduced in the near future. If they're reduced in 30 days from purchase they'll give you the difference back.

All bought at a local shop for $1.50 each. All NES, cart only, solid labels and no writing. Including 2 R5's according to the DP list I'm working off of.

Airwolf, Astyanax, Captain Skyhawk, Casino Kid, Code Name Viper, Demon Sword, Festers Quest, Fighting Golf, Golf, Greg Norman Golf Power, Gyromite, Ice Hockey, Infiltrator, Iron Tank, Jeopardy, Metal Mech, Milons Secret Castle, NES Play Action Football, Rad Racer, Sky Shark, Silent Service, Solar Jetman, Solstice, Super Spike V'Ball/Nintendo World Cup, To The Earth, Top Gun, Top Gun Second Mission, Wheel of Fortune, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Xexyz

This coupled with the trade I just pulled off here puts me at about 50 NES games. Still along way to go, but it's a start.

The Genny games are complete and in decent shape, except for Zombies, which has passwords written in the manual (ugh!).

Mana was pretty cheap, too. I'll probably sell it on eBay.

Here's my recent Dreamcast additions. most of which I listed in last month's thread. Most of this arrived today, but I haven't photographed it or noted condition.

Prices include what I paid for shipping.

Purchased individually, received recently:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3657/3593403845_e339698aa5.jpg

Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram - $10.66
Soul Calibur - $11.49
Bomberman Online - $6.84
Quake III - $6
Grandia II (Includes Soundtrack) - $15
Skies of Arcadia - $19.49

Lot:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3390/3593360203_9c3dafe701_b.jpg

The listing stated free shipping, BIN $53, but she accepted $40. I asked her to put it in another box for shipping, or at least wrap it in brown paper (I didn't want tape and stickers all over my DC box), but she didn't get the memo until after she shipped it. Now I have tape and stickers all over a DC box. Oh well, it's still nice to have. Considering how much it cost to ship ($14), I'm not going to complain.

Dreamcast - kinda grimy, needs to be wiped down; works fine, either stays as a spare or goes to Play N Trade to recoup some of what I paid
Two controllers, clear-black and white, each with a matching VMU, not as grimy as the console; if the black one cleans up nice, it'll become my main controller
Documentation, sealed Web Browser 2.0, sealed phone cable; I'm tempted to put the Sega Net ad on my wall

Carrier
Toy Commander
NHL2K, NFL2K1, NBA2K, World Series Baseball 2K1
Seaman - complete save for the case back insert >_<, microphone cover has hair in it (...o_O); I really don't want to buy a whole other copy, so if anybody has a spare case for this...

Games that arrived today:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2450/3593360981_d4db718e5d.jpg

Bought Tetris from one guy, and he offered to list the other DC games he had for me, and counteroffer on Evil Dead, which I had offered on just before it ended. It broke down thusly:
Q*Bert - $9
Evil Dead - $8
Namco Museum - $9
The Next Tetris - $5.50
Slave Zero - $3
Chu Chu Rocket - $4

Lot:
Sonic Adventure 2
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
NBA 2K

The listing (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=330332768396) on this one wasn't too great. The photo only showed Sonic Adventure 2, and the description stated "THEY ARE IN CASES AND 2 HAVE MANUALS." I figured, Sonic and NBA are complete, I'll trade Soul Reaver toward a complete one. Nope! They definitely have wear, and the intro to Soul Reaver just cut out, but I'm sure I can buff it out. Sonic Adventure 2 plays fine from what I saw. Not bad for $2.17 each. I swear though, this voice in the beginning of Soul Reaver... It's... Captain Saladin from King's Quest VI?

Lastly, House of the Dead 2 - $3.99
...IT SMELLS AWFUL. I had to move this one to a different room, it REEKS of cologne, or something. Seriously, I'm having trouble breathing around it! It's in good condition, but that ODOR is nauseating!

Without warning - $2

4 HD-DVD for $20
Spiderman 3 Bluray for $9.89

It doesn't smell as bad this morning. Well, it still smells but it doesn't fill the room anymore. Kinda odd because two others have water damaged manuals, others broken hinges, etc. Out of all of the games, I think HOTD2 was in the best condition, aside from the funky smell.

Overpaid for the Madden's but I was in an antique store which doesn't usually sell video games, only to come across some PS2 stuff "hidden" on a shelf. Nothing else of note in there, so I grabbed them since they were the only games there.

I always stumble upon smelly games like that (well, not with cologne). I normally leave them in the upstairs room so they air out for a few days. It works well.

Sometimes I have to get rid of the boxes, though, there's no fixing -some- stuff. :\

I'm definitely slowing down. I'm going to be playing through the RPGs, and having fun with everything else. I'm going for completion here, so this is my starting run. So far, I'm really enjoying everything.

Expecting Shenmue and Evolution 2 to arrive today or tomorrow, then that's it. I just got PSO set up to connect properly, so the next thing I need is a keyboard.

You know that you can go ahead and type the codes in to verify and just wait till next year to fill out the surveys, right? That way, you don't have to worry about holding on to the stupid things for any length of time.

Diablo, the Hiroshima CD and Blue Stinger were 50 cents each. I already own Blue Stinger so I can probably trade it away or something. *looks at NayusDante*

Spear of Destiny Super CD Pack? It's complete in box, and it cost me $4! This pup is worth a LOT of money on eBay, but I'm not selling it. I've never stumbled upon a complete copy of any Wolfenstein game around here, and I already own this on Steam, but it's always good to have a CIB copy with all printed manuals, right?

Guitar Hero Rocks The 80's was $6. I stumbled upon a booth owner that I usually chat with and he told me he had some PS2 games for sale. $6 each. I got this one, it has a few light scratches near the center but he said that if it didn't work, he'd let me exchange it for another game. I doubt it'll give me problems, but I'll still test it later today. :)

WOO! FINALLY some luck at garage sales.

WAs out trying to find an address while working and stumbled across a g-sale that just opened...They had 4 boxes of gaming stuff there..Unfortunately I just had $20 on me so I grabbed what I wanted...A complete in box NES Action set w/ 3 games (Mario/Duckhunt, some boxed football game and Mario Andretti racing loose) and a box that contained a Genny 2 with Sega CD, some non-notable Genny games and a few CIB SCD games(Heimdall, Dark Wizard, AD&D and Sewer Shark)...

Original prices were $5 for the NES and $25 for the Sega set up, but talked them down to $20 for the lot.

I left behind a Gamecube with a few games for $10 and a small Atari with about 20 games for $25...Kinda kicking myself about that..Money's sorta tight when you're the only income earner for a family of 3(4 in July).

Since I'm at work, pics will come tonight or tomorrow. :D

pretty good day of sales.
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/finds163.jpg

First off, yesterday I picked up Kirby's Avalanche and Swords & Serpents at a thrift for 1.80 each and in very nice shape (my S&S is trashed). Also, the DS wiper/stylus/screen protector was 3 shipped off CL... I just needed screen protectors for mine.

First garage sale find of the day was the left column of PS2 games for 2 ea (Shadow Colossus, Under the Skin (never heard of it, looked interesting), Dark Cloud, War of the Monsters, Star Ocean, Arc the Lad). Also PS2 was Anti-Grav w/ EyeToy for 5. Then there's the DS games for 5 ea (Mario Kart and Lunar) and the DS itself was 20. Got pretty bug-eyed when they had a baggie full of GBA games marked 3, but it was 3 ea. Someone had beat me to the Pokemon games (about 5 of them), but I picked these out (Golden Sun, Kirby, Monkey Ball, Kingdom Hearts II). Same baggie setup with GBC games, but they were 2 each and these were all that were left (Zelda, G&W 2). Phew, so I actually had a few more GBA games picked out, but they wouldn't cut me any deal at all since they'd barely opened (I'm actually surprised more people don't refuse deals early on, since it only makes sense, but whatever). So I put a few back, and got it for $60 total. If you are keeping score, it should have been 62, but they miss-counted, caught their mistake, then gave it to me for 60 anyway. So I got 3% off after all, whoopee!

DK Jungle Beat w/ bongos was 5 at a sale w/ DS Rune Factory 2 and Animal xing 3 (all asking price).

Middle column of PS2/GC games were all 2 ea, 3 for AC w/ memory card, and then I got the sealed win98 manual w/ cd-key thrown in. Was in a box of random computer crap marked 2 for all, which I should have just bought... might have been some worthwhile memory or something in there. Not sure if the win98 key is worth anything like this, but if not I'll just keep it for future use.

CIB PS2 was 40 w/ the 2 Logitech controllers and a regular one, plus dvd remote. No dongles for the Logitech controllers, though, and she even called someone about it for me. She asked for my number (I know, right! :embarrassed:), so maybe she'll call if they turn up. She had a bag of maybe 12 old sports games for 8 bucks each, which she said she thought was too high, but they weren't hers.

Non-game related were a couple scores I'm very happy with. 2 really nice car seats (nicer than the ones I have) for $3 each. I *hate* one of our carseats, so this is a great score. Then there was a sale with a table full of knick-knacks and one piece of electronics... a Toshiba HDDVD player (HD-A35). Had a sticker on it: "DVD player $10". Now, I bet on blu-ray all the way, and I nearly just bought this right off anyway, but frankly I had no idea of the worth of one of these, so I really wasn't sure what to do. So, I called my father-in-law who owns 2 HD-DVD players (and every other type of a/v equipment ever made) and asked him if he wanted a back-up. "No, no, not really". Me: "Its 10 bucks" Him: "Well, you pretty much have to buy it then". So I got it. As I was paying the guy, he said, 'ya know I've got two of those, the other is just over here, not on the table'. So, two? I passed and put my son and the first in the car, then on a whim called my f-i-l again and he said "get it, then you'll have one and I'll have a backup". So I went and got it. Having looked it up after getting home, I'm shocked that they are worth 130 or so. For that I don't think I'll bother keeping mine (have no movies anyway), and since my f-i-l has two that he never uses, I'll try to get him to sell the other, too. I thought these had died a much quicker death, but shows what I know. I guess it is a good DVD player, regardless.

Hey, HD-DVD is the LaserDisc of the 2000's. Ten years from now, people will collect them like how people today collect LDs and other failed/obscure formats.

I'm out of town this week and I found a loose copy of Jimmy Connors Tennis for NES for $3 at Goodwill. How hard is this to find nowadays in the wild?

Except for the fact that LaserDisc was out from 1978 to 2001... HDDVD only had a couple short years for releases and different players thus making it a much harder and less interesting thing to collect.

Most HD-DVD releases were either alongside Blu-Ray releases, and the exclusives are getting ported to Blu-Ray and turning out better than they were. Star Trek TOS, for example.

Yeah, especially since the LD players were made up until this March.

But the same could be said of Betamax, and people still collect it.

Betamax came out in 1976 and it was still getting movie releases into the 90s and the players were also made until the early 2000's. Betamax is very hard to collect for a lot of people due to the increasing rarity of good working players. They are extremely complicated unlike LaserDisc players. I cant believe anyone can afford collecting Beta. The tapes are impossible to find anywhere and the players in good working order cost a motherload. I have two Beta decks and neither work sufficiently.

People collect everything. But not enough people collect everything for everything to have much value. Which is unfortunate, because it would be nice if my space consuming laser discs were actually worth more than a couple bucks a pop.

Unfortunately most Laserdiscs are worth a fraction of the single movie shipping costs... :(

But was quite surprised when I opened Dark Wizard and discovered this:

Snatcher, baby! Loose, but still! Snatcher! But it doesn't stop there:

Final Fight CD inside the Sega CD unit! The only downside is that the NES Action Set didn't have Mario/Duck Hunt with it...But it does have the instructions and warranty card thingies underneath the system! Best garage sale haul for me ever!

Alright, back to the garage sale finds..Got everything in these two pics for $20...Hey, you're practically in Edmonton.

I might be moving there in a year or two. Mind if I ask you where good spots to get retro games are? I lived there for a few years in the early 2000s and new a decent shop... I think it was on 118ave. not far from NAIT, but that was about it. I didn't hit up many game shops then. I was too busy trying to hit something else up...
:snuggle: :drinking:
For better or worse, I'm won't be in a position to act like the two smile guys above, so gaming it is!

Now that's one of the best deals I have ever seen, ever.

I can never find Sega CD stuff at flea markets ever. I've only found a couple of games at thrift stores.

i think calling it one of the best deals ever is a little exaggerated, it was a great deal, but not insanely good. The 2 hd dvd players for 20 was a much better find.

I have found about 5 sega cd genny combos in the past 2 years at garage sales, they are not that uncommon. I have yet to sell any of them yet, lol.
