Hmm. Your videos are choppy. Even if you had something to show off (rare/unheard of game or skill or such), I still couldn't stand to watch these. You should fix that problem. And if you can't tell what I'm talking about, then you've never played these retro games before (or games in general). It's fairly distracting.

If you're going to do straight up game play videos that people want to see, you have to practice some more so people won't laugh at you or get bored to death, unless you plan to use a gimmick, then it might be passable. Part of the problem there is you are recording with the same hardware thats running the emulators and games. That alone can cause frame drops if the system used isn't that powerful cpu speed wise (multi-core preferred). Its best to use one computer to play the stuff while running another set up to cap it via svideo or whatever. In that case you might as well cap real game system hardware too. The other thing, Windows movie Maker itself will drop frames too on the end result, and Youtube seems to have issues with WMM files, dropping even more fps at times on the end result of their video processing. Also, regardless of what you submit, Youtube has its own set of problems in regards to video playback for the normal user via webpage viewing too, dropping frames, ect just as it is. Typically due to crap like that I just dl the hq flv file if its available and view it in VLC player.

All the problems just add up, taking your once possibly somewhat decent AVI and turning it into shit if you dont use the right software. You need to do everything you can with the video to make sure it will be as smooth as possible for the viewer after Youtube is done with it.

Also, its a bit better to cap in mpeg-2 at a res of around 720x480 if you want a more flexible movie file to work with. If you are serious about doing this kinda stuff, you really need to build a dedicated cap system. You can build a decent one for gameplay capture for around 100-200 bucks depending on what hardware you go after. I use Wincoder software for the capping, and on my Phenom computer I edit the files with Womble before submitting them to Youtube.

I could do the editing and uploading on the Athlon XP 2600 system also, but it takes longer for it to process the end file with Womble on there then it does on the Phenom system. When capping I put myself on a time limit of 10 to 15 mins each per file so they are easier/faster to transfer via USB memory stick. I always keep the files in Mpeg-2 format @ 720x480, during capping, editing, ect.

Well I do have a multi-core machine my computer has a 2.5 ghz Athon X2 and I legitimatly bought the games off of steam so it probably still is an emulator but you make it sound like I just download roms off the internet which I don't.

Also, Urzu, trying is not Steam games with a low framerate in a crappy Sega-made emulator, nor is it the standard AV output of a Nomad. Obvious not-trying is obvious.

When you're working with limited money and no techincal knowledge then yes it is trying. I'm sorry I don't know how technology works but. and someone who doesnt want to use emulators and ROMs.Because To me it's not the quality of the video that I'm going for its the notion that I actually have the game that I am trying to get across.
