I sure can't wait for the ED article 'bout you Urzu.
I'll do an Uncyclopedia article for the SFW types if this happens.
Also, seconded.
EDIT: Holy shit, we've gone beyond the post count of that AC adaptor tyrade. Well done, Urzu. Good trollance on your part.

When you're working with limited money and no techincal knowledge then yes it is trying. I'm sorry I don't know how technology works but. and someone who doesnt want to use emulators and ROMs.Because To me it's not the quality of the video that I'm going for its the notion that I actually have the game that I am trying to get across.
I'm curious why you feel the need to make these videos then. They're not that bad, but nothing really special that hasn't been done already.
You seem to lack;
-funding/equipment
-technical knowledge or skill
-originality/fresh ideas
The only way to get across that you actually have the game is to show that you have it, either show yourself playing the game with a console or video tape just the TV screen with a camera(which will look bad) or show off your collection during a "review" sort of how the AVGN shows clips of himself with his collection mixed together with video footage of the game. Nobody can tell whether you own a game or not just by looking at a video of it playing, whether you bought it off steam or downloaded it for free with an emulator they still will look the same. For the new Rocket Knight game it's pretty much only available on steam, but the other games can be played in other ways.

Because To me it's not the quality of the video that I'm going for its the notion that I actually have the game that I am trying to get across.
And then this is where I have a problem with what you are doing on this thread. You were asking how to improve said quality, but now your basically saying making quality videos isn't your goal. The reality of the situation is this. If the video isn't up to snuff visually, or audio wise, no one is going to want to watch it. You might have a few people start to view the video, but they will close it out after a view seconds of choppiness. If you don't care to have anyone watch your stuff, then no big deal. If all you are wanting to do is make videos showing off what games you have, I'm going to tell you right now, don't bother.
Theres a gazillion other guys doing the same thing, and it just makes people look like bragging douches. There is ZERO you can do that has not been done already in that area to gain viewers. You'd have to be on cam showing you have said game anyway, so you would need to buy a camera, and whats the point of that? No one cares what you have, and that idea has been played out to death. You have basically been told what you can do to make some decent videos of game play.
That last Sunset Riders was a big improvement over the last set you did framerate wise, and if you want to make some compelling and watchable gameplay videos Id say stick with it then. If not, really, honestly, just stop now and save yourself the stress. I do recommend both playing the game for a bit before hitting record, and also trying to stick to games that not many have submitted videos up of yet if possible if you want to reach a wider audience if you really do want to keep doing this. People dont enjoy watching videos of bad gameplay, and they def dont want to watch the 2000th upload of Sega Genesis Altered Beast or Sonic 2 stage 1 gameplay.
At least unless its some rare version/uncommon port of a otherwise common game or something, like Altered Beast on Pc-Engine or Sonic 2 on Master System. Otherwise sometimes its best to not bother unless you are sure you can put up a video showing the game in a better light then whats been done prior. If you do plan to mainly submit videos of common games, dont get irked if you dont get alot of views in a short amount of time for each video, or subs to your channel. If you are cool with that, no big deal. Just have to realize what your goals are and figure out the best way to reach said goals.
For me, I just put up what I want to put up. I have videos I have submitted that get decent view numbers, and ones that just get them slowly over time. Its not a big deal for me either way because Im not out there trying to get subscribers since Im not doing a show or trying to entertain the masses. I mainly just keep it going so that I have a channel going in conjunction with my website (which I rarely update anymore since I have been busy with other things). I dont have enough free time to socialize with people on youtube or crap like that, so I dont go out of my way to do anything on there to get views, subs, or fake friends, and just submit a few videos in batches now and then when I am bored. If you really want lots of views or subs, I def don't recommend taking the approach I do. You're going to have to hit it hard and heavy, socializing, ect. The whole works.
By chance are you using the Nomad to play because the window screen of the cap software you are using isnt good enough to view as you play? If so then you should try to go for some different software that will give you a larger viewing area. The one I use, Wincoder, it allows full screen viewing with no lag as I record.

I do care a little bit about quality but not a lot
I don't care about views really, because all I do is post them on GameFAQs
How would i be able to find out what games have little to no gameplay videos though? just search its name?
I use the Nomad because of its Ease to just plug in and play, not so much as the screen quality but I have used a Dreamcast and a Saturn before

Argh, how PATHETIC is it that I had to turn to Encylopedia Dramatica to find out who this Chris Chandler guy is...
I had to take my wife to the airport this morning for an early flight. I got back around 5:30am. It's about 10:45 now, and I've probably spent 80% of this spouseless time thus far poring over Chandler's Wiki (http://www.cogsdev.org/cwcki/Main_Page). Amazing, absurd and tragic all at once. Legendarily so.
Urzu isn't quite at Chandler's level yet, but he seems to be working hard at it.

I fail to see how any comparisons of me to that Chandler guy are valid, I'm not retarded, I may lack communication skills to get my points across but I am no where even close to the Chandler guy. I don't buy sex toys, I don't post pictures of me doing stupid stuff on the internet. I'm not obsessed over sonic, or pikachu or a Combination of the two. Nor do I defend myself against retarded internet attacks like from that Enigmus fellow. I also don't vandalize Wiki's or shit like that. And I'm not stupid enough to fall for things like put a bag over your head lol.

How about your mutual seemingly pathological inability to graciously accept constructive criticism and work to improve the quality of these substandard videos upon which you're wasting all this bandwidth, to say nothing of your online reputation in general?
Honestly, I was going to subscribe to your YouTube channel, because I believe in supporting the creative efforts of the regular members of this forum. However, after looking at your...."efforts", I can't bring myself in clear conscience to advocate it even through the relatively simple act of clicking the Subscribe button.
By your own admission (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1730247&postcount=154) you don't care about the quality of the work from the get-go, nor are you interested in either learning to improve or investing in better equipment. If you don't take the work seriously why should anyone else?
If you spent have as much of the time you've spent defending yourself in this thread into researching ways to improve your video quality you'd have something people might want to look at. Maybe that's the truth of it: You really don't care about the videos. You're in fact more interested at this point in perpetuating your pathetic little limelight in this thread than you are in coming up with a way to positively increase your viewership outside of here. That's weak tea, man :shameful:
I don't post pictures of me doing stupid stuff on the internet.
I beg to differ. That was kind of my point, actually. (http://www.youtube.com/user/MlsterFahrenheit)

I do care about the Quality to the point that it is worth watching you misunderstood my post probably because I worded it wrong. I am interested in getting better equipment for recording but I can't afford it right now. I'm very interested in learning to improve, I want these videos to be of Decent quality but i don't want to crack programs and shit like that. I don't think I can get any better quality than what I am getting from my Easycap. I'm waiting for a Dazzle DVC 150 to come in the mail but I don't think that is going to be much better. So yes I am actually trying. I lack Technichal Knowledge and such so I cant mod consoles to get them to output in HD and whatnot but the best I can do now is with my easy cap and what I have been putting out. My newer stuff is what you have to look at my Sunset Riders (the second video), TMNT Hyperstone Heist, and Mystic Defender.
Also my Mega Man Obsession isnt in everyone of my posts nor do I constantly talk about it.

Oh...
I do care a little bit about quality but not a lot.
Bear in mind I'm working off of some precedence here as well, to wit: Your MegaMan collection thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144890), of which there is nothing wrong with in and of itself, except that you titled it, "This is my pride and joy, my Mega Man collection." and then lead off with the following statement (emphasis added):
Its not really my pride and joy but I like to say that, but sorry for the crappy pic...
So, urm, yeah, I can see how easy it would be for one to have misinterpreted you. I'll bet it happens all the time.
In the interest of offering what I hope is constructive advice, I'd suggest instead of arguing against every little criticism or ad hominem, just let this thread go fallow until you've acquired better equipment, cultivated a better set of skills and have something more worthwhile to show to the group. I'm still not convinced that you'd rather just argue with people here instead, but at least consider doing something that will potentially yield you more credit than contempt.

I don't use that, but in the programs I use (Vegas, Movie Maker) the audio is usually laid out next to the video in the track / timeline view. You can select the audio track and drag it back by a little bit, probably 1/4 of a second or less, until the sound is synced. :)

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 (which came out this week) is $100. Get it or ask for it as a gift from your family, it's worth it if you want to do any kind of video/audio editing. You can get a 30-day free trial of the software (full version). There's also other versions with more or less features (and different price tags), but Platinum is the one I know and own.

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 (which came out this week) is $100.WOW, that is cheap.
I tried an earlier version of the program and absolutely hated its deinterlacing "features", and the fact that using any external LAME MP3 codec for audio would make it crash. Have they fixed this yet?
Lady Jaye
06-10-2010, 05:03 PM
I haven't tried merging with external MP3s, so I don't know whether this was fixed or not. But yeah, it is unexpensive, especially considering all its features, and I like how the tryout version is basically the full software unlocked for 30 days.
What do you mean by deinterlacing features? The fact that you can easily separate the audio tracks from the video?
Jorpho
06-10-2010, 07:46 PM

You can select the audio track and drag it back by a little bit, probably 1/4 of a second or less, until the sound is synced. :)That's pretty painful, and also imprecise.
When I ran into this problem, I concluded that my capture software was dropping frames, and found that the solution was to use the Matroska-enabled build of VirtualVCR. Unlike AVI, Matroska does not require a constant framerate, so a dropped frame will not wreak havoc with the audio sync. Should I ever need AVI instead, conversion is not overly difficult.

Oops, I meant deinterlacing captured video footage (TV signals are interlaced and they're a pain in the ass to process much of the time.)
