Very cool...I love Tomy pocket games, and pick them up whenever I see them...just recently got a Tomy Pacman game...like the fact that you don't need batteries.
Doesn't need batteries? Weird - how does that work?

Craigslist ad for $85
Mint CIB NES and 31 games two of which are CIB.
Damn! What an awesome deal! The majority of those games are some quality stuff, too!
EDIT: Received GTA IV and GTA San Andreas, both for PC, in the mail yesterday. $10 shipped off of the 'bay. Both are complete and in great condition. San Andreas is the second edition, so no 'hot coffee' for me haha!

I think one way to get rid of the smell is to wrap them in newspaper and keep them away for a while.
Thank you

Damn. I thought I might actually 'win the thread' this month, but I think you've got me beat.
I'm sending the mail order cassettes out to Mayhem tomorrow to get them preserved... The Vic Video Magazine tapes contain "33 pages" of VIC-20 game reviews and literature, and each of those has 5 or 6 games on the B side of the tape. It seems like all these games are unknown to the game collecting community and I can't wait to see what they play like!
Anyways, lot sale today... 3 things: A Sony PS-LX250H turntable, a Pioneer SX-780 stereo receiver, and a Realistic stereo microphone #33-1065, $5 a piece for the receiver and turntable and $1 for the mic.
The turntable, I've been looking for one for a while, figured that Sony would be a decent brand to tide me over until I get a Technics or vintage Pioneer or something. It's a COMPLETE PIECE OF JUNK. Yeah, it doesn't weigh much and has a plastic body but I didn't expect it to be so shitty when I got home to try it out. It doesn't work right anyway so into the trash it goes :/
The Pioneer receiver is VERY nice, was the last of the Pioneer SX-700 series, this in particular was made from 1978-1980. On eBay in great shape it can go up to $150! I've tested it and like most vintage Japanese receivers I've come across it works fine. It needs a good cleaning but cosmetically it's great. Not sure if this one's going to eBay or my stereo setup.
The Realistic microphone looks like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/REALISTIC-STEREO-CONDENSER-MICROPHONE-MIC-33-1065-/390242052840?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5adc3d2ae8) and was purchased because it looks like something out of Lost in Space, although it's not the best of quality. I just have a soft spot for vintage headphones and mics LOL. Interesting fact: This is an important component in the Ghostbusters 2 Giga Meter (http://www.gbfans.com/images/store/236_810739438.jpg) prop.
Yep, that's it for today. I'm a little pissed at Sony right now because I bought the turntable expecting it to be at least of decent quality from the brand name alone. Apparently this model (which is less than 10 years old mind you) suffers from a ton of problems that shouldn't plague a modern record player, apart from the broken drive belt that the one I got had.
Doesn't need batteries? Weird - how does that work?
Tomy pocket games are all mechanical, they either are very simple games like a pinball sort of affair or they are powered by wind-up.

Picked up for $2.95 at local bookstore that sells standard NES controllers for $3.95. Cleaned up well, but the Start and Select buttons look as though they came from a different batch of plastic.
Also picked up a loose copy of Double Dragon 2 (NES) and Sonic and Knuckles (Genesis).

Sony turntables are terrible (especially the newer ones but that goes for a lot of their newer audio equipment). I picked up a Technics SL-QD33 a month or so ago for $10 at a sale. It has great quality even though it was a budget turntable back in it's day. I also have a vintage Dual from the early 70's that I'm refurbishing right now and it sounds incredible. I stay away from belt-drive tables too; Direct or Idler Drive for me unless it's one I can resell.
Good find on the receiver. I always snatch those up because of their value (except for those crap Soundesign ones that no one wants).
Edit: Was gone on vacation, not much gaming wise. Picked up a Genesis controller for $1 (can always use extras), Sonic 3 for $5 (hated to pay this much but it was CIB and I wanted it for my collection), a Game Boy Advance for $1, and a loose (nothing with it sadly, even the stand is missing) Virtual Boy for $10. I didn't want to pay that but it's such an uncommon find I couldn't resist. It came with Mario Tennis too. Also bought some PS2 games to take to Game Stop and some XBox games to resell.
My guess is that the LE set will be selling for around $50 and the game itself will be $10 or less. 6,000 copies of something that is super niche and frankly not that good is not going to result in value down the road. Not only that, but a large number of people who bought it have never played any other game in the series and just did so because the numbers made it sound rare and they thought they could cash in. Heck, the first game they released over here didn't even break 10K copies total sold. There are lots of numerically rare games which are worth next to nothing. Having said all that, the set is kind of neat, although the outer box feels like low end construction paper and the contents are not worth the premium which was charged. This should have been maybe $75 shipped, not $110.
Haha that could be true! xD However, I prefer to wait and see first. Niche titles can be interesting to keep a eye on for many years to come.

Been forever since I've even looked at the finds. Haven't been out at all, and school has kept me too busy. Today on the way to the post office, though, I checked out my church's thrift and actually found a few things.
The Simpsons Hit & Run (PC) - $1 (Discs and case only)
Mario Party 6 (Disc and case only) - $5
and this oddity...
Pikmin Deluxe Edition - $6
Someone stuck Pikmin and Pikmin 2 in a GCN 2-disc case, gave it the insert for Pikmin, and the manual for Pikmin 2. On the insert, they wrote in silver marker "Deluxe Edition" on the front and "Includes Pikmin 1 and 2" on the back. Inside, they wrote next to the disc holders "Pikmin" and "Pikmin 2." Behind the manual, it says "Put either manual here." The cover insert cleaned up well enough, but I can't get the marker off the matte plastic of the case. At any rate, I used the case to complete my copy of Twin Snakes, and the two Pikmins are now in Blockbuster cases until I find proper GCN cases. The Pikmin discs are a little scratched, but definitely look playable.

Strange, but nice pickup!
I grabbed one thing at a thrift yesterday: Daggerfall! disc in jewel case w/ front/back art. No box or manual, but cost me $1.45, so can't complain. Too bad it isn't worth big bucks like it used to be, but I'd probably keep it anyway.

I love it, makes me want to, if I didn't care about condition, write deluxe edition on the couple 360 games that I have disc only copies of other games in the same case like my madden 07 disc only I have in with my madden 10 or my burnout revenge disc only I have stuck in with my Burnout Paradise.

I ordered three games yesterday from Amazon.com that were all decent prices and I think all are new copies...
Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu (GameCube)--$9.99
Teen Titans (GameCube)--$5.70
Superman Returns (Xbox)--$2.54
Yes, I'm on a super-hero gaming mood! :D I had never heard of there being a Teen Titans game before. Interestingly, I discovered another game I never heard of for about the same price as the TT game...Catwoman. The customer reviews make it sound like a sucky game, though. Anyone here play it? And today I picked up 3 games at Wal-Mart (all for the Nintendo DS) so I paid regular prizes for these...well the first was only $20...
Major League Baseball 2K10
Batman: The Brave and the Bold--The Videogame
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

I've been trying to pick up that Catwoman game for a while, Rog. But every store here has beat up copies, or disc only ones. Then again, it does have this going for it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OouUynzKiY)... if you like seeing a video game woman grind against her costume. (Somewhat NSFW.)
Anyway, my finds for the day.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-10-20.jpg
Gabriel Knight: The Sins of The Fathers - $2
Warcraft II Battle.net - $2
Ginger Snaps DVD (new, but the disc was loose inside and didn't realize that until I got home - possible Canadian release, has no MPAA rating) - $1
The Verve Story 1944-1994 (four CDs of nothing but jazz!) - $2 - The slipcover and insert booklet are all beat up, but the discs were in great shape.
I actually found quite a few booths with CDs today, but it rained overnight, and in the early morning before I got to the flea market. So much of it was ruined. :\

Hey, Kitsune. If you're going to sell that Verve Story disc set, I'd be very interested in it. :wink 2:
I bought Robocop, Let The Right One In, The Crazies, and Samurai Champloo on BR for $40 at a small bookstore today. Nothing worth picking up gaming-wise.

I found seven Intellivision games in a Movie Trading Company store in Hurst. I already had all of them except for Frog Bog and The Empire Strikes Back, but I don't have them with white labels. I'm doing pretty good as far as finding Intellivision games goes for this month.

I did come across a couple interesting things this afternoon. One was a boxed NES for around $20, the one with the Zapper. Next to it was a boxed Action Pad (or whatever those things were called). I've got no interest in Nintendo consoles or games, so I passed. Hopefully it'll brighten someone else's day to get it. Or they'll just be assholes and resell it on eBay. Whatever.
The second thing I came across was a Sega arcade redemption game for $79. I can't remember what the title was. It looked like it had been around for a while, not something made within the last decade or so. For some reason I want to say it was Surfing, but I can't find any info about it online other than an old '70s machine which I don't think was it. The game was short and had a joystick on the front which mechanically controlled a labyrinth-style board and you had to move something that was roughly the size of a pinball across the playfield, not dropping it in one of the holes. The coin door had been drilled off and there were a whole bunch of redemption tickets inside. I don't really need something like that, so I passed on it. I'd much rather have a video game arcade cab like Pac-Man than a mechanical ticket spewing game.

Final Fantasy II & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time (SNES, Both Cart Only) - $10
Were $5 each, took almost 3 weeks to get this deal squared away since the seller was slow to reply to e-mails (over a week for the last reply) but I figured out why when I meet up as it was a kid that was maybe 10 years old.

Picked up a few computer games from a thrift store the other day.
Wasteland (Electronic Arts) IBM Version, 5.25" Disks, Boxed/Complete $0.99
Fountain of Dreams (Electronic Arts) IBM, 5.25" Disks, Boxed/Complete $0.99
Loom (Lucasfilm) IBM, 5.25" Disks, Boxed/possibly complete, $1.99
Eco Quest (Sierra) IBM, 5.25" Disks, Boxed/Complete, $1.99
These were sitting next to a bin with some NES cartridges that were obviously picked through. Lucky for me that PC games are often overlooked. This is the first decent find I have ever had at a thrift store, and it will likely be the last.

Picked up this at a thrift for $50. It's a ticket redemption machine. You use the joystick to maneuver a pinball across a labyrinth-style board inside. I haven't picked it up yet, I've got to wait until I get access to a larger vehicle.

Anyways, I went to the local chain classic gaming place, "FX Game Exchange". I don't often stop in there because it's in the mall (I place I don't frequent too much LOL). I picked up Ninja Kid (NES) because it was not in my NES library for $4.95, and for $24.95 I got a copy of Ace Attorney Miles Edgeworth Investigations just because I've been wanting it after finishing Phoenix Wright 3.

Around the Dallas area I've found several arcade machines. Rastan (totally dead), Zaxxon, X-Men Arcade, Soul Edge, NFL Blitz, NBA Jam. They've all been donated because they had something wrong with them. Although NFL Blitz was fine when I fooled around with it, there could have been something I didn't know about that was broken. I've also found a Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man in an 'antique' store where they base all of their prices on eBay.
I've also found plenty of hard to find games and consoles, like two Vectrex units; two Telegames Dina 2-in-1 units; an NES Myriad 6-in-1 cartridge; a Samsung Nuon enhanced DVD player; a couple TurboGrafx-16 consoles and a Turbo Duo; several rare games for the Atari 2600, even a development "not for sale" version of the Philips CD-i game Zelda: Wand of Gamelon. It's all about looking. You can't give up after a couple months of searching. Use Google Maps to plot out stores in your area or in places you're planning on going on an out-of-town trip, and start pulling in the great finds. I haven't been finding much at all lately since there's so many eBay resellers around me, but I'll still kill a couple hours in the early afternoon of a day off.

This is interesting...today in the mail I received 3 items...each is a different format...and all feature Batman! The first item is used, the others are new...
Batman: Dark Tomorrow (Xbox)--I paid under $7 for this including shipping. Actually, the shipping was more than the cost of the game. Is this game as horrible as I've heard? If so, I'm glad I got it cheap.
Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu (GameCube)--I had this game once on Xbox but never played it...I think I may have given it in a Secret Santa exchange but I can't remember now. I guess I must be going for all the Batman (and other super-hero) games for systems I own. I paid $9.99 for this one.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold--Okay, this isn't a video game but a collection of episodes (Season 1: Volume 1) of the cartoon series that airs on Cartoon Network. In it, each episode has Batman teaming up with different heroes in each episodes. I have only caught a few episodes (the Aquaman one was especially funny) but I'm sure I'll enjoy them all. Interestingly, earlier this week I bought the Nintendo DS game based on this series.

Went thrifting yesterday, wasn't having much luck. At one store I saw a ratting looking VG woodgrain storage box with a $39 price on it sitting behind the counter. Wasn't going to waste my time on it, but then changed my mind. After seeing the Atari TTCM and CV Flipper Slipper I decided to buy. I also had a $10 off coupon, so more than I would normally spend, but $30 for the two carts alone are probably an okay deal.

Haha, thanks guys. It is indeed my best find, but the game isn't perfect. It seems the outer cover of the game has some heat damage, and it's a little bit puffy unfortunately. It's not visible, but you can feel it.
Also good find on Knuckles Chaotix.

I might as well post the stuff I bought at the Oklahoma Video Game Expo. If I didn't have a bunch of expensive car repairs recently, there'd be far more impressive things in these photos. :)

Are those VCDs, games, or audio CDs? I can't read what they are, but they look interesting. I see Lexx in the upper right, but then a bunch of Namco stuff.

They're audio CDs. The Lexx one (Tales From A Parallel Universe as it's pilot movie was renamed in the US), the two Battle Of The Planets discs (one a US release, one Japanese), and the Galaxyquest CDs are all soundtracks, and the rest are either video game sound effects/music, remixes, or music 'inspired' by the games. It's all pretty weird stuff. This Is Namco! really goes off the deep end; for example, they re-imagine the music from Galaga '88 as a 1940s era big band number. Crazy and thoroughly entertaining. :band:

I haven't tried it out yet. It looks to be like Tomy's earlier mechanical handhelds like Hit & Missle or Digital Derby. But this one has a tiny record that plays voices, sound effects and music as you play. I really need to go out and buy some batteries to get this puppy working.
A Vintage Stock I went into had it in one of their toy display cases. They didn't have any idea about it, so they marked it to $12.99. Unfortunately, they put the price tag on the marquis, which then damaged the sticker when I peeled the tag off. :(

Stumbled upon the legendary $10 Combat today at a Goodwill. Also had Keystone Capers, Frogger, and some other common 2600 game for $10 each.
And I've actually heard about employees at this Goodwill complaining that nothing ever sells.
But I did get the following over the weekend, obviously not at that Goodwill:
City Connection- $1
Mighty Bomb Jack- $5
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves- $1
Speedy Gonzales: Los Gatos Bandidos-$1
Super Putty-$5
WWF Wrestlemania Challenge- Free

Holy crap... Earl (Phosphor Dot Fossils) brings heaps of CDs to the shows every year, and a lot of them don't sell, and this year he decided to mark all CDs $2 each. I guess I got a great deal! Some guy went and bought out all of his extensive collection of Babylon 5 soundtracks.
EDIT: Damn, the Galaxyquest soundtrack starts out around $70! Man, I really got an f-ing great deal!

I ran out and bought some batteries to try it. It has lit-up little space ships that either scroll slowly or quickly and jerkily (depending on whether the right hand switch is set to Amateur or Professional) and it will slowly fire a lazer at them. If it connects, the ship stops scrolling and there's a nice little purple explosion that lights up behind it. All the sound effects are on a tiny record player. The space battle sounds are good, but I can barely understand any of the many voices that play from it. And like those old Tomy mechanical toys, they're fairly noisy when they run. It's sad that they don't make toys like that anymore.

Agreed. Although I don't know what's more impressive; the game itself or finding a physical copy in the wild outside of Japan. All the same, that's a terrific find for a great and very uncommon Game Gear game, as an import too no less.
Also, job well done on the Web of Fire, Baloo.

Lot sale today and 2 things of interest:
I was digging through the usual "box of shitty cassettes and CDs nobody wants" and found the sleeve for Wasteland (C64/128)... No floppies inside. I tossed the sleeve in my basket and kept on looking, I found the 2nd floppy and all the manuals and etc in the bottom of the box but no 1st disk to be found. Anyways a friend of mine had a copy of Bard's Tale III in his hand (C64/128 version also) which he gave me. I looked in the box 3 times and couldn't find that darn disk! Well I looked around the rest of the place and before checking out I looked in the box once more after noticing that the workers put some more CDs in it... The first disk was right on top of it all! LOL
Anyways, I don't have a C64 set up right now to play Wasteland, so it's going to eBay as well as Bard's Tale III... They're complete and in good shape (now!).

Have you guys tried to look for those soundtrack CDs on eBay? Galaxy Quest sold for $20 on the 11th (Source (http://cgi.ebay.com/GALAXY-QUEST-Score-OST-Soundtrack-CD-David-Newman-RARE-/390249362206?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item5adcacb31e)), and Tales from A Parallel Universe has been listed for $30 and it hasn't sold yet.
I mean no offense, I'm sure the albums are valuable to the fans - but remember that Amazon sellers love to inflate their prices. I have a few albums that are sold there for $100 and they're not worth $5 on eBay!
Anyway. Here's Unca Foxhack's Story Time!
Guess what happened yesterday? Well, I arrived at the border to cross over early and wouldn't ya know it, it took me TWO AND A HALF HOURS to cross because the border patrol was being more of a dick than usual. At least 50 minutes of that was spent stuck in the same spot because they had to call an ambulance because someone fainted inside the gates because they take too long to let us pass. And then they wonder why we hate them so much. I only stayed on there because I had to go get money to pay our utilities. D:
By the time I got to the flea market, it was pretty obvious that someone had already cherry-picked the two PS1 game bundles that were available at two different booths. :(
So today I left home at 5:40, got to the border at 5:50, and I still spent 15 minutes waiting to cross. Since it was way too early I went to a local diner / donut shop and played some KOF02UM. I'm not sure if it was a bootleg or not. Well, I left for the flea market, and got this:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-10-26.jpg
That Fang Gamepad thing. It's from the people who made the ZBoard uh, keyboards. It looked pretty much like new and it was $4 so I bought it. I picked up the comic on the way back at a small newsstand. That was 5 pesos (roughly 40 cents.)
And that comic MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. Even after reading the previous issues! It's supposed to be kinda like Spawn, I think, only not, and there's terrorists and someone pushes an American woman into the subway tracks and there's a lot of see-through nipples in clothes...

NES games were 1.80 ea, PS1 game was 2.80 (for some reason I thought this one was really rare; oops.), pretty sure I need this N64 ac for 2.45, and the Warcraft 1 disc was 1.40 in a WCII expansion jewel case. Oh, and it is Tuesday, so it was actually 25% off those prices.

Well today was productive.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-10-27a.jpg
Watchmen TPB was $2, CDs were $1 each. The Belushi / Aykroyd is brand new but the case is damaged. "The Only Big Band CD You'll Ever Need" is a V/A of big band songs. Electric Barbarella is a promo CD with the song and several of the band's earlier singles. Crime Jazz is a bunch of theme songs from 1960s cop shows and movies. I downloaded this album over three years ago in crappy AAC / M4A format! I'm glad to have a real copy now. The booth where I got most of those CDs had tons of Jazz stuff, but it was all promo and the guy wanted $1 a CD so I had to leave most of 'em behind.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-10-27b.jpg
I was about to leave the flea market, but I decided to take one last trip through it to see if anyone had set up shop while I was browsing the edge of it. I'm glad I did. One booth had tons of Playstations, Sega Genesis, and a couple of Dreamcasts - I saw all of these stashed in a bucket near a DC system. The total for all that? $10! Sadly, the games are kinda scratched and the manuals are somewhat torn in the back. :\ But I figure I can sell these and buy better copies down the line. :) The Enforcer gun for the Genesis is up for trade. There were other games, but they were very beat up.
And finally... the oddball find.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-10-27c.jpg
Yes, it says "The Final Cat". It's Chinese so I figured a few typos were passable. I bought it and didn't really inspect it until I got home.
I get here and I look up the album on Rate Your Music. I don't see it. Instead, I see The Final Cut. And it's one record / CD long. I look at my copy and it has two CDs, so I scan the tracklist... and notice that this set has The Wall on the other disc! Not to mention it also seems to have the first half of "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" to pad the "Final Cut" CD as well!
The CD claims to be manufactured by Sony Music Asia. It's an HDCD album. The product codes on the back doesn't show anything related to Pink Floyd in my Google searches... The back is also filled with amusing Engrish typos like "In The Fiesh", "Another Briek In The Wall Cparf", and so on. The "The Wall" CD also seems to be incorrectly mastered, most tracks have one second of silence before and after the song itself... I already own The Wall, and it only cost me a buck, so it's not so bad!

That CD could have been completely blank and it would have been worth it just because of it being called "The Final Cat".
