View Full Version : October 2010 Finds
Goodwill Hunter

It’s October, and the forums are back…huzzah! A few finds from yesterday and last week:
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5334/f26w.jpg
Found an opened, but like new Halo Mega Blocks Locust and Gausshog set at Goodwill yesterday…no missing pieces that I could tell…$9.99.
A local independent used game store sadly went out of business last week, Lost Melodys in Waukesha. They had a 70% off sale the last few days, and I picked up a few gems I had had my eye on, but were too expensive without the discount:
SNES Tetris Attack demo cart, Marked $40 - $12 after discount
Channel F #26 Alien Invasion…a rather hard to find cart, a space invaders clone, and the last commercially produced cart for the Fairchild Channel F, marked $50 - $15 after discount
Glad the forums are back, I missed seeing everyone’s finds!

Stopped into a Goodwill yesterday and found this...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/HuskerFan/Finds/10-2010-2.jpg
The damn people at this Goodwill like to wrap packing tape around anything, VHS, DVD, etc. Well luckily I was able to get it all off without damaging the box.
I also found these at another Goodwill that had a few sealed PC games. I grabbed the sealed ones.

Talk about 2K Monies. WOW.
Should I repost the stuff I found during the September downtime?

Nothing really worth taking pictures of.
Games:
Resale Shop
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts - $5
Life Force - $5
Gamestop
Earthworm Jim (GBA) - $4.49
GBA - GCN link cable - $.89
Yesterday i was mainly planning to go to Gamestops to look for a cover variant of Phantom Hourglass that I wanted. I was going to one when I thought I'd stop at a resale shop as the last time I went it was closed. I went in there and was more surprised at how they had tons of knick knacks. They did have a small game section, but everything seemed to be overpriced ($20 for Pokemon Blue overpriced). I saw a box of older games and picked out Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Life Force as they seemed priced okay.
Then I went to a Gamestop and spent half an hour searching for the boxes for Phantom Hourglass only to not find it. I did have a nice chat with the sales associate though. I picked up Earthworm Jim as I was replacing my copy and a GBA- GCN Link cable. I now have three of those and perhaps if I get 4 I can convince people to play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles with me!

Today's lot featured:
CIB Zelda - A link to the past SNES (With Map) - $10
CIB Shadow Gate - $5
FF Mystic Quest - $5
Ogre Battle - $25
Zombies ate my neighbors - $3
Lufia & The Fortress of Doom - $3
Total Price: $51
The guy who was selling Mystic Quest & Ogre Battle wouldn't budge much on prices, though I convinced him to drop $5 on each. He was an ebay price checker for sure though.
Also, since most of September the forums were down, I received (mainly at the end of the month):
River City Ransom & Battletoads for NES for $4 shipped.
Story on this one: A guy a NAge was suppose to ship me River City and Zelda 2 for $14. I get the package, and it's those 2 games. Kind of pissed, I asked him what happened. He said I can keep the games and he'll refund my $$. I told him to just refund $10, and he did. Plus his communication sucked and he was in the "Hall of Shame" thread at NAge and didn't want another negative feedback. Story is a bit longer than this, but that's the gist of it.
GameCube + Avatar: The Last Airbender sealed (GCN) + Phantasy Star 4 for $16 or $21. Can't remember because shipping was practically double. Good person to deal with too btw.
Final Fantasy 3j Repro Cart: $37 from nesreproductions. Great work from there as well.
Super Mario Bros 2. NES - $5 shipped
Super Mario RPG - $18 shipped
and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Posting this even though it is pretty old, because this is the best way to force me to log my purchases in my spreadsheet.
NES was $5, no ac and no games, but I asked if she had games. She sorta grinned sheepishly and said she has a bunch for her NES that she is keeping. Then she remembered she'd recently found a big box of more NES stuff and went to check if she had duplicates. She came out with those 3 and a couple others I wasn't interested in and I paid a buck each.
Stuff in the middle was .50 or .25 each, cords/controllers along the bottom were 1.95-2.95 (plus 25% off) from a thrift, as was the Sonic DX guide. PS game is Silent Hill for $2, no manual, obviously. Halo Wars guides were $1.50 each, rescued from a SA where they'd be sitting for a long time, I just finally got there during the right 50% off color week.

Paid $20 for all this stuff. The Gen box has the cardboard holder, but no console... they were just going to toss it. The Four Score is like new, and the main reason I picked up everything. This was all at a sale nearby that advertised lots of NES, PS1, PS2 games and a segaCD. I think the best stuff went pre-sale. Grrr.

Thought these Tomy Pocket Games were pretty cool for .20 each or so. Anyone know anything about them? They are from around '76-'78. Also grabbed a new Thomas engine for my son for $1.80 (-25%), which was a steal, those things are 10+ at Target.

Very cool...I love Tomy pocket games, and pick them up whenever I see them...just recently got a Tomy Pacman game...like the fact that you don't need batteries. Have never seen one in its original packaging however...not sure if there are hardcore Tomy pocket collectors out there, or if the original box makes them more valuable like with video games. But everything seems to be collected these days, so I wouldn't be surprised. Love the "pocket" look to the box too...nice finds!

P.S. Googling didn't turn up any rarity or value discussions, but I did find a site with a list of released games:

Last week I found a PS2 Codebreaker, v9.0, with a second disc. I thought that the second disc went with it but it turned out to be a another copy of Codebreaker, v9.1 O_O. Those were $1 for both...
Yeah and that's really it, it's seems I've hit a dry spell video game-wise since DP went down :/
Err... anyways flea market today and it was dead. I found a CD containing 69 sound effects from Star Trek:TOS (http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Effects-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B000001P04/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1286144533&sr=8-1), $0.50. XD Dunno what I can do with that but it seems like quite the Kitsune Sniper buy. Also, Eurythmics Touch and Rockwell Somebody's Watching Me on vinyl, $2 a pop. Also got a labeless original Gameboy game for $0.25. I got home and cleaned it and it refuses to work so it's quite the mystery. And yep, that's all I got at the flea market today.

Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge (PS2, Complete) & Sonic The Hedgohog 3 (Genesis, Cart) - $1.25
The Incredible Hulk: The Pantheon Saga (PS1, Complete) - $2
Ratatouille: Food Frenzy & Meteos: Disney Magic (NDS, Both Card Only) - $1
Forgotten Worlds (Genesis, Boxed) & Toughman Contest (32x, Complete) - $2
2600 Joystick - .25
First Sale PS2 games a buck each and 1 lone Genesis game in Sonic 3 for .25. The Playstation game was asking price from a vender at a flea market type deal they do twice a year. I asked about video games at one sale to be told that the kids loose the games in the couch and they usually get thrown out when found if the kids don't care about them and the guy mentioned some DS games he found but didn't throw out yet. I offered a buck for Meteos and he said I could take them both for that price. Picked out 2 Genesis games at a sale that had a few out marked $2 each, no problem taking $2 for both. Saw the 2600 joystick out no price took a quarter for it.

N64 With 1 Controller, Hookups & 2 Games (Mario Party 3 & WCW NWO Revenge) - $7
Conker: Live & Reloaded, Indiana Jones And The Emperor's Tomb (Xbox, Both Complete) - $6
I only did a seperate picture for this stuff as I actually ran out and tripped over this sale shortly after 2 and had already taken a picture of everything else already. Unadvertised sale in town that I've been to before a few years ago and they were all set up as 2 sales at one house. The N64 stuff was marked $15 and I offered $5 for it which was countered with $7. The other half of the sale had some PS2 & Xbox games and I picked out Conker, was $5 a game but took my offer of $3. I actually had to come back as I had no money on me and when I came back I ended up asking about $5 with Indiana Jones added in but they countered with $6 for both so I just went with it instead of trying to argue it to save a buck.
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/17/10310.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/i/10310.jpg/)
10 2600 Games & Some Manuals, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (PS2, Complete) & Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories (PS1, Complete) - $5
ClayFighter & Mercs (Complete & Cart Only) - $2
This stuff was from the first flea market I went to. I was interested in the 2600 stuff and BG;DA II this was from the same guy that remembers me from the N64 stuff & Saturn system only etc. He said he'd make me a deal when he noticed me looking at the stuff. He ended up saying $10 then I said I was thinking $5 and asked about meeting in the middle and I agreed his counter of $7. He ended up saying $5 would be ok and asked me if I had a use for the lone PS1 game he wanted rid of which he added in. The 6 games in the second row I got from him along with Asteroids, Crystal Castles, Seaquest & Super Breakout which ain't pictured for reasons to be. One table had a few Genesis games which were a buck each and I picked out two and got the Sonic Spinball case and manual for free when the game was noticed to be missing.
Taboo: The Sixth Sense - $3
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (Disc Only) - $1
Dolphin, Millipede, Sky Jinks & Winter Games - 4 2600 Dupes I Mentioned From The Last Find
Only ended up buying & trading from 1 seller at the second flea market I went to. Most of the games were $3 or 2 for $5. I picked out Taboo & 3 2600 games and offered $6 (would have been $10 at asking) to which I was told that 2 for $5 was the best that could be done and I politely said I have a hard time paying more then a buck per a 2600 game. I ended up going with Taboo still and finding Crash in a dollar bin. BSing with the guy I ended up asking if trading was of interest to him which was. I picked out the 4 2600 games I got and offered 6 games to him (Berserk & Astroblast also) but he said a 4:4 trade would be ok and gave me back the two games I just mentioned.

Final Fantasy XI hard drive bundle $5
Halo Reach countdown clock--free
Halo Reach big ass three foot display--free
Targus cooling fan--free due to the other one dying in a mere three months
The FFXI bundle didn't have a price on it so I gave it to the cashier and asked her how much. She then gave it to one of the people who sorted thru stuff and he took it in the back. After a few minutes he came out and told the cashier it was $25. I told her I wasn't interested for that price and she said she'd only charge me $5 since I always shop there. Plus, she knows that the reason some of the stuff doesn't sell there is because the people who do the prices mark things too high sometimes. It's as if they think their store is called ebay or amazon instead of Goodwill. But luckily cashiers like Kim are there to correct their mistakes.

I don't find Pocket Games too often, but I go crazy when I come across one. I used to love those things when I was a kid. My original was that Obstacle Course game. I don't know what it's worth or how rare it is, but it seems that Obstacle Course is the most fondly remembered game in the line. I wish I knew where mine was.

Re-post from the September thread, now with pictures. Some of this stuff isn't from this weekend's pull but I included it as the forums haven't been online.
http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx316/jaruff/Finds/DSC01970.jpg
- Weights: $1
- NES Games: $0.50 each
- PS1 Game: $0.50
- N64 Game (NBA Showtime): $0.50
- SNES + N64 Stuff: $5 (also included some cables which aren't pictured - 28 games total, four SNES, 24 N64)
- Sony Surround System: $20
- Seven SNES games: $7 (picked these up the other week, believe I posted them in the September thread but can't remember).
- Elo Touchscreen Monitor: Free (old equipment being thrown out at stepfather's job)
- Sony Minidisc player + Pioneer CD changer: $2.99 each (CD changer missing the magazine but oh well)
- COMPAQ C-Series Handheld PC CIB (most of the packaging has been unopened, such as discs): $10
If anyone's interested in any of the gaming stuff, let me know. Since I'm a Sega and Sony collector, this Nintendo stuff has little use for me. PM me if you would like a list but there's a lot of Mario games in the lot. Also willing to part with the Minidisc player, CD Changer, and handheld PC if someone collects those.

I wanted to take pics but my camera isn't the greatest taking pics at night so mebbe I'll try in the morning. I happened upon a few things here and there and I'll list them out and perhaps edit this post if I can get pics in order.
Picked up Atelier Rorona LE from GS. I put a small tear on the flap trying to get the box open. *_* Btw Scour, it looks like you got a music CD for the game in one of your pics, did you get that from the Rosen Queen website? The LE box from GS only has the game and art book.
Found Magnetica and Super Fruitfall for $6 and $8. Got a B2G1F on some DC games at a local mom n' pop store, I snagged Pen Pen Tri Icelon, Ooga Booga, and Flogian Bros.
Other than that, I happened upon Supreme Commander 2 for PC for $5 and some change. I took advantage of GS marking down their delisted PC games to 75% off on that one. I also snapped up the Steelbook pre-order cases for the Blu-Ray releases of Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story 3.
Today I found a pair of titles for just over $10 each, Space Invaders Extreme 2 (DS) and Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii). The Trauma Center has a decent amount of scratches on it so that may be going back to the store. :-/

Free from the guy I bought the PC games from the day before. He asked me for help with something, and when I picked those out he gave 'em to me for free.
Monday, September 27:

Diablo + Hellfire were $1 each. The PC capture device was $5. Kilrathi Saga is not complete, it's just two manuals and three of the five CDs. But it was $2, I figured someone may want the CDs and manuals to complete their copy. The Game Shark was $3, and it was stuck in a Saturn without any cables.
Tuesday, September 28:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-09-28.jpg
$3 total, the Spider-Man CD is sealed. (Or was!) The Gold Finger is up for trade.
Wednesday, September 29:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-09-29a.jpg
$4 total.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-09-29b.jpg
Office:Mac v.X was $3, Office:Mac 2004 was $1
The Morcheeba two-CD set was $2, I'd been looking for the "Who Can You Trust?" CD for over a year and I ended up finding this two CD set with a bunch of B-Sides. Squirrel Nut Zippers: Perennial Favorites is... well, I was missing this CD, I bought a bunch of their CDs a while back but this one was missing. It's the cardboard release, and the case is stained, but it'll hold me out until I can get the jewel case version.
Diablo II, Expansion, Warcraft III Expansion (http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-09-29c.jpg) - $5 for these and they'll be on eBay soon enough.
Thursday September 30:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-09-30.jpg
CDs were $1 each. Not pictured: Nascar Racing 2003 Season, which has already been sold. I got that along with Little Mermaid 2 (shut up!) for $3. Super Mario World was $3 and that's from Friday.
Yes, I FINALLY found an Information Society album in the wild! Not only that, but Cause and Effect's second album, and Camouflage's first album. Those guys performed "The Great Commandment" which some DJ in my hometown always played in the early mornings when my alarm went off during my highschool years.
October 4:

Blood II: The Chosen (new) - $3
Connectix Virtual PC 5 (complete) - $3
The Royal Tenenbaums Criterion two disc (reshrinked, used but in good shape) - $1
The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy - $3
I'm curious, is Royal Tenenbaums supposed to have a booklet? The discs are in good shape, but there's nothing inside the case other than the DVDs.

Ah, I see you have them on ebay. Still a good price, but I'm really cheap with PC games. $10 total for both would have been my limit, the shipping costs alone would probably be more than that. LOL

I only got one thing worth noting over the down time this tub…
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9312/img0009ka.jpg
Full of games!!
3x Sega Genesis (all hook-ups and 2 controllers for each)
2x Nintendos (all hook-ups, 1 light gun, and 2 controllers for each)
1x PS2 (no hook-ups)
1x N64 (no hook-ups)
1x 32x (no hook-ups)
1x Wii (all hook-ups but no controller)
2x plug N’ plays
and other random things (NES Mario, power cords, etc., etc.)
All of it was declared as “broken” so I gave $35 for it.
When testing, all the Genesises (?) worked. The NESs blinked, bent the pins back and they worked. The Wii had a game stuck in it and somehow the person got it out but the Wii was left thinking it had a game in it, all I had to do was take the top off to get a disc in above the stoppers and push the eject button now it works fine.

Saw a bag with SNES games for $9.99 in the glass case at Goodwill today. They also had a bag of common NES games for $9.99 and a boxed cobalt blue Gameboy SP for $24.99, but I passed on those. It looked like the SNES bag had a console inside, but it was actually a Super Advantage joystick. What sealed the deal, however, was a few of the titles I could see through the bag:
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/1853/snesl.jpg
In addition to the Joystick, an NES Zapper and RF switch, and two manuals, were 5 common games, and 5 that really caught my eye:
Mario is Missing
Plok
Pieces (R7)
Mega Man X
Snow White: Happily Ever After (R6)
Pretty eclectic mix of games, but a few nice additions to the collection for one low price!

Miracle Piano w/ unopened PC software, manuals, AC adapter, foot pedal, and 'other' headphones for $25. I thought from the ad that the headphones would be the original ones (the woman selling on CL thought they were), and the Piano is missing the plastic insert thingy that would have the Nintendo seal of quality, so that's a bummer. I already have a complete minus box M.P., so this purchase was purely because I thought I could sell the AC, pedal, headphones, and maybe manuals to make up my cost and help some people here or at NA complete there sets, but I knew it would be close even w/ the headphones (they seem to be the hardest part to find). So if you need any of those (not the headphones, obviously), let me know! Picked up Brawl for 20 and Win98 w/ key for 3 from a GW. Brawl is like new target salvage and I was able to register for coins already.

OEM WinXP MCE was in a box w/ other packin software (powerDVD, NERO, etc) at a garage sale, Guy said a quarter and I stupidly didn't have any small money. Pull out a 20 (sheepishly), and he started to break a roll of quarters then just told me to have it. I found an on the ground lawn chair thing for a buck on the way out so I bought that and felt a little better. Can I sell this XP that is "for distro w/ hardware only" on eBay? (Kitsune?) It has the hologram seal/sticker w/ cd-key.
Last is the Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera. This was in a plastic baggie at a thrift for 4.95 I think. I opened it at the counter to look at it closer and couldn't even figure out how to open it! They fold up flat if you haven't seen them. Anyway, I was 90% sure it was a Polaroid, and 25% sure it was worth something. I've bought worthless polaroids before since they at least look kinda neat on the shelf, but luckily this one is worth something like 40-100 bucks, and my interest isn't enough to keep it.

I'm surprised you didn't know... The SX-70 is one of the classic "Them things are worth a bunch on eBay!" items...Mostly because you can manipulate photos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chevy_Nova_SX-70_manipulation.jpg) with it.

I have a rule: If it says "for sale with hardware only" or something similar, I don't buy it to resell. Sometimes the licenses are tied to the hardware they were first used with. I'm not completely sure which programs do that, and Microsoft likes to take down most OEM software auctions they find, so I just... leave those things behind. I'll buy them for myself if the software's worth it though! That's how I got my copy of Office.
Anyway, I had no finds today at all, unless you count the two CDs I bought at the 99 Cent Only store in my US hometown: Tangled Up in Blues: Songs of Bob Dylan - This Ain't No Tribute (http://rateyourmusic.com/release/comp/various_artists_f2/tangled_up_in_blues__songs_of_bob_dylan___this_ain t_no_tribute/), and The Hard + The Heavy Volume One (http://rateyourmusic.com/release/comp/various_artists_f2/the_hard___the_heavy__volume_one/). Both were 50 cents each, $1.09 total after taxes.
And technically, The Hard + The Heavy is my Kitsune Sniper find of the day. Check out that tracklist. o_o;;

Standards? LOL
1: I'm a comic book fan! Sadly most of the fun stuff is in the unrated DVD.
2: I like bass music.
3: After The Emperor's New Groove PS1 game, I figured I'd give Disney a shot instead of dismissing the games outright.
...
Also, it's kinda creepy how you singled out all that stuff. o_O

Right, right. I'm just messing with you.
Anyway, I only found three CDs today:'
The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack... which is unrippable. Dammit. *tosses it*
Wesley Willis: Greatest Hits (Volume 1) - I wupped Batman's Ass!
Spy Magazine Presents: Spy Music Volume 1 - This CD has a bunch of typical spy songs: Secret Agent Man, Peter Gunn, Mission Impossible, Goldfinger, and so on. What's weird about it was a sticker it had on the cover.
It has a Fox Hunt sticker. As in the Capcom-released FMV game. I purchased the soundtrack album for that game (http://rateyourmusic.com/release/comp/various_artists_f2/original_soundtrack_from_fox_hunt/) years ago off eBay, and it was published by Rhino, who also released this CD. I wonder if this particular copy had the sticker applied to promote the game.
Or it could be a huge coincidence.

Went to the local thrift store this weekend, picked up a couple CIB genny games in good to excellent condition for $1 each.
NBA Jam
Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine
Eternal Champions
Virtua Figher (32X)
Virtua Racer (32X)
and.... Mutant Leauge Hockey
which makes my second CIB MLH thrift find in the past year. Nothing amazing but I have a soft spot for Sega stuff.

I'm glad to see that the DP forums are back up and running! I've bought quite a few things during the downtime:
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology for $20.00 (Used, Complete) - I found this through my local Craigslist ads. I'd seen it on the site a few times before, but the seller was always too far for me to get to.
Kirby's Dream Course for $5.00 (Used, Loose) - I like Kirby games, so I wanted to try this. It took me a bit to figure out how to play it, but I'm enjoying so far.
Mario Paint w/ Mouse for $3.00 (Used, Loose)
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing for $18.99 (New) - I've been considering picking this ever since the price when down to $30. So when I had a bit of extra cash, I when down a local store and discovered they had dropped the price even further.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii for $11.00 (Used, Complete) - I traded a bunch of games to a pawn shop, and used the credit to get this for cheap. Me and my sister are loving the co--op mode.
2000 Wii Points Card for $20.00 - I picked this up in anticipation of Sonic 4's release next week.
Jazware's Silver the Hedgehog Figure for $7.99 (New) - I noticed that the Canadian Toys "R" Us site finally had these figures listed. So I went to my local store today to see if they had them as well.
Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Adventure Manga Vol. 5 for $5.99 (New)
Sailor Moon Manga Volume 1 for 99 cents (Used) - It's pretty beat up, but for 99 cents I can't complain!
11 issues of Nintendo Power for $3.00 (Used) - I really need to stop buying cheap gaming magazines. I'm running out of room to store them.
I also sold a few my games to someone on Craigslist and made $100. Now I can afford to get Sonic Colours in November!:-D

So the story goes a little like this...
Went to the Flea Market on Sunday. Saw an R-Zone sitting on a table (never saw one in the wild), so I ask the nice older gentleman "how much?" For that thing $1. I was initially worried what the price would be as he had 2 bare bones N64 Systems stickered $55 each
So I buy the R-Zone (game with Star Wars and Batman game) for $1. I am walking away and in the back of his pickup truck I see an old hand held baseball game sticking out of a GIANT tupperware bin; I was about to ask to see it then I was like 'meh' i don't want it anyhow.
So I do a lap around some nearby tables and walk by R-Zone guy again. I was like OH HELL WHATEVER "Hey I was wondering I see that baseball game in your truck, got any more hand held games back there?"
He was like "Oh yea a ton, I just didn't put them out" then starts to lay several on the table before saying "You know what, there are too many; the bin is heavy just come back here and look"
I head behind the table to take a gander. This bin was FILLED, so it was quite overwhelming to dig through when after about 1minute the guy goes "You could just take the whole bin, haha" to which I responded "I don't think I could afford it buddy, haha" to which he says "You can't afford $5?!"
*JAW DROPS*
"$5 Are you serious?"
"Yeah take it all I don't want it"
"Ok my girlfriend is going to kill me, but ok!"
I pull my SUV around to pick up this bin...

That's damn impressive icarwngs55! Personally I'd keep the tiger handhelds and anything else that I find personally interesting and offer up the rest on Halloween.
I've been through a miserable couple of days as I had taken this week off work to get some non-work stuff taken care of, only to get sick. The fun started on Friday night on the way to visit my parents but didn't get full blown until Sunday morning when I was heading home. I feel much better now but that's beside the point. On Saturday heading back to my parent's house after taking care of some errands with my girlfriend we stopped at a big yard sale. Nothing very interesting except for a couple of big plastic bags with Genesis stuff in them and a note that said it was all $25.00. It looked pretty dusty but there were a couple boxed 32X games in there, a Genny 1, SCD 2, and a 32X with the cable at the bottom so I figured what the hell. I offered $20.00 which was accepted. The seller was a nice guy that I guess was just selling stuff for someone else (estate sale or storage clearing) and said if I got it home and it didn't work to come back that day and he'd give me my money back. I told him not to worry about it and (almost) everything ended up working anyway. Here's a before and after...
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2010-10-07%2801%29.jpg
GEN - Genesis system Model 1 (with power adapter)
GEN - Sega CD Model 2 (with power adapter)
GEN - Sega 32X (with power adapter)
GEN - Video cable for 32X with Genesis 1 adapter cable
GEN - EA Sports 4 player splitter
GEN - Genesis three button control pad (four of these, two long cables, two short)
GEN - Caesar's Palace (complete)
GEN - Madden '94 (complete)
GEN - Madden '97 (complete)
GEN - NBA Live '96 (loose)
GEN - Hardball '94 (loose)
GEN - NHL '95 (complete)
GEN - Olympic Gold Barcelona '92 (complete)
GEN - PGA Tour Golf II (complete)
GEN - RBI Baseball '94 (loose)
GEN - Triple Play '96 (loose)
GEN - Winter Olympics Lillehammer '94 (complete)
SCD - Joe Montana's NFL Football (disc only)
SCD - Sewer Shark pack-in (complete)
SCD - Sherlock Holmes / Sega Classics 4 in 1 pack-in (no booklet)
SCD - Tomcat Alley (complete)
SCD - Wheel of Fortune (disc only)
32X - Star Wars Arcade (no booklet)
32X - Virtua Racing Deluxe (complete)
Mainly sports games and the usual SCD crap (although Sega Classics is always a decent disc to find) but I can't complain. Everything worked fine except for one control pad (plastic cracked) and the RF box that came with it was shot. Also I don't mind finding common Genny sports games if they're complete with all the pack-in stuff as these have, so I think I'll hold onto them... that and NHL '95 kicks ass. I'm going to keep the 32X for my JVC X'Eye but will probably list the Genny 1 and SCD on craigslist with the SCD games and loose Genesis games eventually.
A couple quick purchases from one of my sisters, $5.00 for the pair. I'll buy pretty much any Game Boy game for cheap these days and Konami Arcade Classics is a superb arcade compilation for the PlayStation, as many here know.

GB - Ms. Pac-Man (loose)
Finally, as my birthday is this weekend, I decided to buy something for myself I've wanted for a long time. An Arsenal home shirt from '00-'02 when Sega was their corporate sponsor. It took a long time to meet my criteria (original, good shape, affordable shipping, XXL size, etc.) and it all kind of fell together. Ended up being Ł25 shipped. Finding an XXL has been the problem, which translates into an XL in the US.

Found a CIB TurboGrafx CD, and a loose TurboGrafx 16 with 3 controllers, a Turbotap, and a R-Type hucard for $50 at the flea market. Both of them work, although the power supply for the CD unit is dangerously frayed, I had to use the one that I had in storage to get it working. 8-) Is there a cheap substitute power supply for the CD unit that I can get without having to get an original one?

Here's the only notable stuff I've found since the forum crashed and burned. My car was having problems, so I wasn't thrift shopping at all until I could get it repaired. It's fixed now, so I'll be hitting the ol' thrifts again. And as far as the stuff in the picture, the Atari was only $2.99, Shadowrun for the SNES is complete and was $14.99, and the Bridge Challenger (which comes with its own briefcase, felt tabletop, power supply, paperwork, and a key to lock the case up) was $6.96. The only thing missing from it was a specially barcoded deck of cards that you'd slide through the top of the device. I love old '70s and '80s electronic handhelds, but this one is too huge to be considered a handheld. And the outer bottom casing of it is real wood! I can't use it since there's no cards, but there's a web site that I can buy a new deck from for two and a half bucks. Nice.

Managed to get to a thrift this morning. As I was walking around I saw a worker hoist a bin out of the cart and saw a pink NES cleaner as he went by. Looked closer and saw NES, N64, and SNES carts so I did a uey (yuey?) and picked up everything as he set it down (they don't like you shopping out of their carts/bins). From that I put back Blades of Steel, Double Dribble, some sports N64 & SNES games. Found DKC2 elsewhere since they just scatter everything randomly. Actually saw lots of grey plastic today, some in every aisle, which was nice, just too bad this was all that was worth it to me. I think the only marginally notable things I passed on were SNES SFII & X-men, and N64 Spiderman and Nagano. Longbox games I got because they are longbox games ;). Grand total was $13 because it is 25% off w/ VIP card on Fri.

Somebody else here found a Star Force like that... Can't remember his name for the life of me. It is a "proto" technically because it contains an EEPROM, but it's more of a review/sample copy because it was sent to video gme magazines, making it a little more common than development prototypes.
Still really awesome in my opinion.

Glad you all noticed it ;). I just like to make sure you folks are paying attention. I opened it and it has a japanese board w/ eeproms and a converter like the gyromite carts have. I haven't had a chance to put it in the NES and fire it up yet, though. I knew I'd seen the label before, but can't find any info about it now, although I did find that the 5-screw Star Force is pretty scarce.

Church sale today... Grabbed a boxful of SNES carts, all with $0.50 tags. I got them all not only to keep them away from the terrible overpriced flea market game vendor I hate but also to buff up my collection. The box had Dirt Trax FX, Killer Instinct, Troy Aikman Football, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Mickey's Ultimate Challenge, Aladdin, NCAA Basketball, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Pac-Man 2 The New Adventures, Jungle Book, Super Gameboy, Star Trek TNG, and Super Black Bass. Too many sports and kids games for my tastes, but you can't beat $0.50 a piece.
Also, same church sale: Pete Kelly's Blues (http://www.amazon.com/Pete-Kellys-Blues-1955-Film/dp/B00000G4U0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1286640159&sr=8-6), What if Mozart wrote "Born to Be Wild"? (http://www.amazon.com/Mozart-wrote-Hampton-String-Quartet/dp/B000003ERH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1286640237&sr=1-1), and finally Manneheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII. The Fresh Aire stuff is all the original CD release, dunno if those are worth anything. The CDs were all $1 a piece.

King's Quest: Mask of Eternity (PC, Complete) - $2
Black 1st Party Playstation 2 Controller - .10
Both from the same sale on Friday and asking price.
Atari 800 Computer With Wico Joystick, Power Adaptor And Atari 410 - $3
Super Scope In Box (Missing Game And Paperwork) - $3
Nintendo Game Boy Case - $1
Dead To Rights II (Xbox, Complete) - $1
Arcade Party Pak, Descent And The Raiden Project (PS1, Only Descent Missing It's Manual) - $3
Jeopardy! (Game.com, Sealed) & Green 1st Party N64 Controller - .50
Atari Computer stuff was out with no price. The lady said I could have it for $5 and I said I was thinking more like a buck which wasen't working for her. I said how about we meet in the middle and she agreed on $3, very next sale when I asked about video games a family member over heard me and mentioned a Nintendo gun and held her hands out wide so I figured it was a super scope. She brought it out and I pointed out the missing game and offered a buck and she countered with $3 which I took. GameBoy case was marked $2 took a buck. Dead To Right II was asking price. Getting pretty close to noon and I happened to pass by an unadvertised sale, PS1 games were $2 each I offered $3 for 3 which was taken. The last find, no price I offered .50 which was taken.

I honestly had some pretty good finds this past week; although, what I consider my best find is not game related. First up, the game finds:
- Mario Teaches Typing (PC. Complete in very good shape): $.25
- The Lost Vikings (Genesis. Loose in good shape): $.50
- Game Genie (Genesis. Loose in very good shape): $.50
- PlayStation console (5501 model, with no cables or controllers): Free
Mario Teaches Typing was found at a sale I almost passed up, but decided to go to anyway (Good thing, too, because I had been wanting to get this to see how different it was from Mario Teaches Typing 2). The Lost Vikings and the Game Genie where part of a box of assorted video game stuff marked $10 (Which was mostly PS2 and Genesis controllers), so I just pulled out what I wanted and made an offer on them, which was gladly accepted. The PlayStation was an odd case; it was marked $5, but while I was looking at it to see in what shape it was in (A little rough, with a sticky Open button), when the guy running the sale told me I could have it for free. I may not have much of a need for it, but hey; I never pass up a free console, because nothing is cheaper than something free.
One thing that did annoy me at one sale was finding a SharkPad controller for the N64 (Which is very closely related to the SuperPad 64 Plus; my favorite 3rd party controller for the system), but finding that the wire was chewed up badly to the point it looked like it wouldn't work anymore.
Non-gaming finds:
- A box of approximately 1,100 Pokémon cards: $5
- Pioneer LD-660 LaserDisc player w\ 19 movies: $20
The Pokémon cards where a surprise find; a plastic case packed full of them (The case labeled as being able to hold 1,100 trading cards). Looking through them earlier, I actually saw several cards I had been wanting to get for my collection for years; even a Mewtwo promo card I spend ages trying to track down after trading mine to a friend years ago for an Electrabuzz promo card.
The LaserDisc player, however, takes the cake as my best find of the week, and one of my best finds of the year. Of the movies it came bundled with, the ones that stood out to me where Gremlins (One I've been meaning to watch), Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (The original, 1984 print of the disc), The Neverending Story (I haven't seen this movie in ages), and Ghostbusters (Another one I haven't seen in years). I has always wanted to get a LaserDisc player, and although this is a low-end player from what I read, it's still quite nice. Now, I just need an entertainment center capable of holding this albatross in all it's top-loading glory...

Last electronics flea market of the year. I got out there later than usual but there really wasn't much to see.
There's one seller out there that has endless amounts of junk, although he's had less and less as this season has ran on. Well today he had a few boxes of CDs and DVDs for $3.00 each so I poked around a little. There were some beat up and faded PS2 Maddens, the usual stuff that gets mixed in. I did find a longbox Destruction Derby but the cardboard box was pounded in pretty bad and I have it already. In the box was also a GH copy of Final Fantasy VII. Upon first inspection it was missing the second disc but then I realized it was placed behind the manual. The back of the case was bashed open and someone had spilled their coffee all over the back as well (no damage to the insert or anything, it was just on the plastic). I left it as is at first, I was going to use the damaged case, "missing" disc, and coffee spills has haggling points - you have to play dirty with this guy. Then I thought I would use a different tactic that I hadn't used in awhile. I wiped off the coffee, pulled three bucks out of my wallet and went up to him. Holding it so the side was the only thing visible and leading with my cash from a distance I said to him "Three dollars for the CD's?" while putting the money in his hand and walking away. He took the money and I was heading away when I heard him mumbling "Final Fantasy..." something or other. I really hate that guy. I also bought a $3.00 pair of wire strippers since I can't seem to find where I put mine.
I also went out to the big SJ flea market looking for an old seller but I couldn't locate him. I did come across a copy of Battletoads that had been out there forever and a Sega Stunner lightgun for the Saturn. Dealer that had them is really a mixed bag so I held them both up and asked how much. He asked me if the gun was PS2 and I told him that I think it's for the Saturn because of the plug shape. He ended up saying $10.00 for the pair, that the game was $3.00 and he came up with $10.00 out of the blue without telling me a price for the gun, which was fine - $5.00 a piece is what I wanted to pay anyway. I should have picked up that copy of Boulder Dash he had as well though, oh well. I cleaned up and changed out the case for FFVII in the picture, nice and minty now.

My girlfriend gave me a set of arcade propaganda posters for my birthday as well. There are five but I only have three framed since that was the full stock of frames when I went out to buy them today. The acrylic on the frame the Joust poster is in has some pressure damage in the upper left corner, which I'll swap around with one of the other posters when I can get the other frames so it'll be less apparent. You can really only see it in high direct light anyway.

Donkey Kong.
The others are Dig Dug and TRON and I should have those framed and up in a couple weeks.

My gf's boss stopped by tonight and brought her boxed Super Famicom, with 9 games. Games included a Fire Pro Wresting, FFIV, V, and VI, 2 DBZ games, Drakken, and a couple others. It had both controllers and the original system manual, but not power adapter or video cables. Never had a SFC before, so I'm excited to try it, once I get the proper cables.

Since I've started my vacation, I thought I'd do it right and hit flea markets and thrift stores across a swath of north Texas. One flea market that I rarely find any games in had a wealth of Atari stuff today, but since I had most of the games, I only chose a couple. Marine Wars and Miner 2049'er along with A Boy And His Blob were $5 each. The INTV games were from a GameXchange in Tyler, TX. That was it, game wise. I sneezed my head off all afternoon, emptying a box of Kleenex that I only bought yesterday. And I held off eating lunch so I could hit an interesting restaurant I found on Google Maps, and when I went far out of my way and finally located it I found that it wasn't open. Apparently it closed down, but their website's still up. Nice of them to let people know.

I did a lot of unexpected running around today. I didn't necessarily want to be out that long but that's what ended up happening. First place I went was Best Buy to pick up my Beauty and the Beast Blu-Ray pre-order. I just got done moving the contents from the standard case into the Steelbook I got when I made the pre-order. :) I snagged a Toy Story 3 Steelbook for my buddy while I was there and I spent a little time perusing the games sections. I ended up finding Pop 'N Music and Klonoa on Wii for $10 each.
Hit up the Gamestop across the street and they didn't have anything I wanted. I decided to go into the mall down the street and the GS in there was lacking in items I wanted. Well...I did see Ivy the Kiwi? on the shelf and thought about getting it but put it back. I went down the hall to the mom n' pop game store. I saw they had a CIB 3DO system in their case that they wanted $150 for. They had a small selection of CIB games like Slam N' Jam, Way of the Warrior, Road Rash, Crash 'N Burn, and a Super Street Fighter II Turbo they priced at $50. I passed on all of that and didn't see anything that struck my fancy.
I did some more wandering around, a little bit of grocery shopping, then stopped into Toys R Us to see if they had anything worthwhile. I noticed they demolished their "R" Zone and re-arranged their games area. There was a dump bin right in front with a sign saying titles $5-$19.99. No titles in that $5 range but plenty in the $19.99 range (and none worth paying that much for). :|
Cousin calls me wanting to go grab a bite so I pick him up and we drop into my old GS store about 15 minutes before they closed. It was an eventful stop as I picked up my pre-order bonus for Super Scribblenauts, a pair of headphones. They offered 3 different ones, a gray one, a camo one, and a purple with white polka-dots one. I got the latter. :D He got the gray pair for him and the purple ones for his brother. He also snagged a Castlevania: Lords of Shadow shirt. I was rather happy because I was able to still put a pre-order down for the CE of Disney's Epic Mickey on Wii.
We drove down the street to Half-Price Books and I found a huge selection of Laser Discs marked .98˘ each. :o I picked up six or seven of them from the selection including (from memory)...
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Father of the Bride
Father of the Bride II
Rescuers Down Under
Rock-A-Doodle
...there's something else and I cannot remember what it was (they're still in the car). I also happened upon Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere for $5.
One thing I forgot to mention in a post I made a few days ago was that I happened to be in Sears looking around when I saw a big box for Halo Reach. At first I thought it might be the system bundle but I picked it up and noticed it was the Legendary Edition. Upon setting it down I noticed the price tag on it. The price tag stated "$59.99". I did a double take, and I realized it was indeed $59.99 and not $159.99. I checked the print and it said "Halo Reach Legendary". There were two of them there so I grabbed both and walked to the counter with them. I asked the clerk to scan them and they indeed came up as $59.99 each. He remarked that they might be mis-priced and I replied "Maybe...?" and handed him my card. He didn't try to contest it and rang them up for me at the $59.99 price. Minutes later, I was walking out of the store with a box on each arm. :-P

Random booth at the flea market today....
I was nonchalantly looking through a stack of records... it was like "Random celebrity workout LP, Diana Ross, Kraftwerk... Wait! Kraftwerk?" So yeah, Kraftwerk's Trans-Europe Express on vinyl. I asked for a price and the lady told me everything on the table is $0.25 a piece. I looked around the table and to my surprise Double Dribble (NES) and NBA Basketball (NES) both minty and boxed were sitting there. And yep, that's all I got today.
