Completed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 this afternoon
The only question i need to ask is how can a game with so much action and pace be so mind numingly boring, half way through the game i think my brain switched itself off.

Classic gaming forum fail.

These threads are generally for any games beaten during the year, classic or otherwise. The thread is placed here mostly because a majority of the games beaten are going to be classics (due to this being Retrogaming Roundtable and all).

Finished Dead Nation on morbid difficulty. After that I played single missions on Undead difficulty to get rank eight on the first stage. I'm at 16 million points. I have to get 21 millions to get first rank.

1. Sonic Colors (Wii, 1/1)

I had a lot of fun with this one, the game features a mix of 3D Sonic and some very well done 2D platforming segments. This is easily my favorite Sonic game to come out on the consoles since the games on the Dreamcast, truely a nice surprise.

Just beat Golden Sun: Dark Dawn on New Year's Day. It is a GREAT game and definitely worth the wait.

But, the ending sucked and was anti-climatic. That's my only complaint.

Two days in and already two notches on the belt, too bad I won't be able to keep this momentum up, eh? Anyway, this was a great remake of the original Castlevania and comes highly recommended.

Games that I've beaten so far in 2011:

Bayonetta (Xbox 360) - I loved this game. It was fun and full of cheesecake. I beat it on easy (automatic). I won't be going back to beat it on normal or harder. Great game if you get it cheap! - Jan 2011

Jumping Flash (PS One) - I downloaded this from the Playstation Store. Played it on PSP and PS3. I love the second game but never played this first one until now. It was really good but not as fun as the second one. - Jan 2011

Steam Hearts (PC Engine) - I played this just to see how dirty it actually was. It barely is. I think there was one exposed boob in the whole game. - Feb 2011

Strip Fighter (PC Engine) - same as Steam Hearts, but there was more nudity, but it really isn't worth playing. I played it using a two button setup, which sucked. It might be better with six buttons, but I doubt it. - Feb 2011

Street Fighter Alpha (PSone classics) - God I love this game. Guy is just as much as asshole now as ever! I bought this for 3 bucks from PSN - totally worth it! I had this on Saturn when it first came out, the two versions are basically identical - Mar 2011

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS) - I got this for Christmas and just got around to beating it. Great game. - March 2011

1. Sonic Colors (Wii, 1/1)
2. Castlevania Chronicles (PS1, 1/2)
3. Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (Wii, 1/3)
4. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (GC, 1/4)

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom was a nice little figter, it's a little on the simplistic side with only having three attack buttons, but still very fun. SA2 Battle however, that one I didn't enjoy quite as much, it's obviously the game where the series took it's down turn. It was sad that the first Adventure had six unique characters, but this game the characters on each side were cabron copies of each other, even their powerups, I was pretty disappointed with it.

1. Sonic Chronicles

Had it sitting near the end for ages and decided to blast through the last 3 chapters yesterday and today. A decent game. The battle mechanics needed fine tuning, and the random spikes in difficulty were annoying.

The writing was spot-on though and had me laughing a few times. I expected more but look forward to the implied sequel.

4. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (GC, 1/4)
5. Doritos: Crash Course (XBLA, 1/4)

The first of the free XBLA titles that was released last month, this game was acutally pretty fun for a free advergame. The courses feature some nice platforming bits, especially as you get later in the game, and while the game can be beaten in less than 30 minutes, it's fifteen courses wlll likely have me coming back to try and best some of my old times. A definite step up from Dash of Destruction, and I feel I can actually recommend this one, especially since it's a free download.

5. Doritos: Crash Course (XBLA, 1/4)
6. Donkey Kong Land (GB, 1/5)

A pretty entertaining spin-off of Donkey Kong Country, this had some entertaining levels, but also had some very frustrating parts due, in large part, to the controls just not being as tight as they could have been. I also noticed a number of graphical hiccups through out the game, and I wasn't sure if this was due to the game pushing the hardware or just the product of a rushed game. Either way, it was worth a playthrough and I'm looking forward to seeing if its sequel fares any better.

2. Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Another one I've had sitting near the end for ages. Good game, had me laughing with its humour. The pipes as a instrument were cool, but could get get very frustrating at times. Not enough side quests, and they were nearly all 'fetch item/person to X destination'. Needed more variance.

I liked the train... very picturesque when travelling but it did take too long to get anywhere. They should have added a faster gauge(?) option as an upgrade halfway through the game. Also the train parts were far more of an effort to obtain than the ship parts in PH.

I think the next original handheld Zelda should use a mix of touch and button controls.

Last time, I beat 24 games; much more than the year before it, and with plenty of new games on the list. Now, carrying over the format from last year, I get the ball rolling...

#1: Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? [Flonne's Castle beaten] (PSP) [1\7]

With my copy of Prinny 2 on it's way, I decided to revisit the first one to beat one of the two DLC stages I bought (The other one being Lil' Asagi Comes Home; a stage that will kick your ass and leave you to die). Compared to some of the stages from late into the main story, Flonne's Castle was not too tough; there where a few tricky parts in the stage and the boss fight was mildly irritating, but it wasn't anything that would make you want to snap the disc in half.

Now, I'll probably get back to one of the games I'm currently playing; it won't be too tough for me to finish Tails' side of Sonic Adventure, so that'll be next up...unless I decide to dust off my old copy of Super Mario Land for some kind of challenge run.

Hi guys,

New to the forum and this is my first post! So be kind!

Games completed so far -

1. X-Men Arcade (Xbox 360, 4/1)
2. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 (ipod Touch, 6/1)
3. Mirrors Edge (ipod Touch, 7/1)
3. Family Guy: Time Warped (ipod Touch, 9/1)

Admittedly, all rather easy games to get through although Sonic did have some frustrating moments!!

I've only just discovered gaming via a newly purchased ipod - the games are cheap and convenient and it compensates for the times when I don't get chance to play on my consoles.

This one was short, but sweet. It's a fun little platformer and well worth the price of admission, some of the platforming got a little tough toward the end and the story was pretty weak, but overall this is a great game and easily recommended. The game is also fairly inexpensive, which is always a plus.

Previously beaten prior to 2011 and beaten again in 2011:

1. Alex Kidd in Miracle World

Id forgotten how stupidly difficult the end of this game can get. Very precise platforming needed (which the game isn't suited too), the luck based Janken matches (which I no longer have committed to memory) and the final bit with the boxes and ghosts. Still, good fun!

God of Bore 3. Worst of the garbage overrated God of War series. The entire series is shitty stylish action and the third is the same with True HD. While it's a very good looking game, it's no where close to having as many areas that look as good as those of God of War 2. That's where it ends though, this game has great graphics but it's missing out on decent gameplay and a storyline that doesn't suck.

Pick up Dante's Inferno, X Men Origins Wolverine, Devil May Cry(series,) Castlevania Lament of Innocence, and from the demo, Lords of Shadow. Games that deserve more praise and sales than horse shit like the God of War games. I'll even say Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden are better but I didn't really enjoy those much.

5. Dead Rising 2 (again)

Finally wrapped up all the cases with a co-op partner.

When I got my first 360, Dead Rising was one of the reasons I ended up trading it (to Kid Ice, for Radiant Silvergun and a DS flashcard and a whole bunch of other good shit). I hated it so much. But I didn't want to hate it. With my 2nd 360, I gave it another shot, and after learning how it works, it became one of my all-time favorite games. The sequel is even more addictive, with the endless number of approaches you can make to the tons of content.

Also if anyone out there needs a hand with this one, I'll gladly play more co-op. Or TIR. Or if you need cash, I have 11 Bargaining books, a magnificent game-breaking glitch that Capcom hasn't patched yet.

Another godawful licensed game with really easy achievements (see: LOST, CSI games, etc.) I'm at 965/1000 right now, all I need are 5 curbstomps and idling for 5 minutes for the full 1K. Too bad curbstomps are all about luck. I went through the entire game without one.

2.) 1/15 Mario and Luigi:Partners in Time (DS)
3.) 1/22 Chrono Cross (PS) Truly one of the greates games I have ever played. I didn't think it would have been this good after all the heat I've seen it get.

1. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1 - 4

Dear lord what a fun game. This is one of the best LEGO games I've ever spent time with. Lots of hidden things to find, fun visuals and intuative gameplay. Could have do with a bit more direction on how to access a few areas and skills, but other than that I have no complaints.

2. Jumping Flash (PS One) - I downloaded this from the Playstation Store. Played it on PSP and PS3. I love the second game but never played this first one until now. It was really good but not as fun as the second one. - Jan 2011

Finished the single player portion of COD: Black Ops. What can I say? No one buys these games for single player...and I can see why. I think I've nailed down every Call of Duty in four easy steps. It's basically 6 hours of:

1.) Shoot your way to a marked waypoint (checkpoint).
2.) More shooting (another checkpoint).
3.) Big explosion where everything gets quiet and you move in slow motion (checkpoint).
4.) Complete objective by capturing/killing "Evil Russian Male".

That's COD in a nutshell.

Jan. 5th - Dead Space (on Impossible difficulty).
Jan. 23rd - Call of Duty: Black Ops.

1. Ys: The Oath in Felghana (PSP - January 15th)
2. Hands on Tangrams (Nintendo DS - January 22nd)

I figured out the puzzles pretty quick just playing here and there thought there would be more challenge, but hey I got it for 5 bucks! Great game for kids who enjoy puzzles.

1. Solatorobo: Sore kara CODA e (DS) 1/3
2. Pokemon Snap (N64) 1/4
3. Goemon: Mononoke Sugoroku (N64) 1/28

Just picked up Goemon for my collection and gave it a try, but it was so addictive that I ended up playing through the whole story mode. Great Culdcept-style card battle/board game.

Finished Quiz and Dragons today. Never heard of the game before scrolling past it in Capcom Classics Remixed (PSP) this morning. Pretty lame stuff. Although some questions were pretty tough considering 75% revolve around 1992-era pop culture. What the hell, I'll add it to the list...

Jan. 5th - Dead Space (on Impossible difficulty).
Jan. 23rd - Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Jan. 29th - Quiz and Dragons.

Heavy Rain. Then started a new game and finished Uncharted on Hard.

Heavy Rain was a very good game. If you're one who will watch a good movie again and again then Heavy Rain is a must buy, though if not then it's a game you really need to rent. The story is much better than most movies I've seen in the last decade. While two thirds of the way through Indigo Prophecy the storyline just gets pretty bad, this game has an amazing storyline from beginning to end.

12. Top Hunter (Wii, 28/1)
13. Bully Scholarship Edition (Xbox 360, 30/1)

I had quite a gaming marathon over the weekend. Batman is a great game which I highly recommend. I had fun with both Metal Slug and (surprisingly) Top Hunter. It was evident that Top Hunter was originally an arcade game in the way it through around 5-6 bosses at you in the last stage. I think would have spent a pretty penny trying to beat this one. Would be interested to know if there are any similar games out there? After shelving it for a while I also finally managed to finish (beat) Bully.
