is that a issue of "Weird NJ" I see?
Yes,the second one I have..old issues..
Ny sister I have heard has a bunch.I've always been curious as to what was in the magazine. They are quite interesting...
We actually picked up the whole crate of the misc, weapon magazines/free..Fliping through them quick I pulled out the three magazines and my dads going to sort through the rest and give me them as he has no room for them. Ijust have to go over to his place nd pick the crate back up...Maybe there will be more Weird NJ issues.

the magazine has been around for over a decade.
it also spawned off into a series of books (which i own quite a few) that talk about weirdness all over the US (including England too!)
i love stuff like this. hearing folk lore and ghost stories and weird attractions and things that go bump in the night!
The guys who run the company of Weird NJ along with Weird US and i guess now Weird World had a very short lived TV series on History Channel (sadly) called "Weird US" was around in 2006 i think maybe 2007

Just found this yesterday at a local thrift store: Super Noah's Ark 3D by Wisdom Tree for the SNES in all its unofficial goodness. $1 USD. I about crapped myself.
Er, maybe not literally pants-filling, but close. My rarest SNES game by far and a very satisfying purchase for a measly buck! Also grabbed about a dozen NES games, several unlicensed (like "Pyramid", the bizarre Tetris clone).

Scored all of this today for the low, low cost of FREE. A friend was going through some stuff and came across this, he was going to donate it to charity, but asked if I wanted it instead. He wouldn't take money for it, either.

I was particularly excited about the Psychic Detective (!!!), 2600 wireless joysticks, the TurboBooster, and the huge lot of SMS stuff, which gives me an instant collection. Been wanting an SMS for a while, too.
That makes 2 copies of Psychic Detective in a week, having never physically seen the game before!

Last weekend I got the Mutant League Football at a GW when my FiL spotted it on a random shelf. They normally keep games pretty well isolated over by the CDs/DVDs/tapes. It was $2.
The rest is from a thrift run yesterday. Klonoa 2 was 5.80 and is CiB in good shape. SNES AvP was 3.95 and the baggie with Xbox Oddysee & 007 Nightfire was 2.80 (probably should have passed, but I didn't think I had Oddysee). The Blu-ray was 6.80 or so, and Office was 4.99.

AHA! You reminded me of what I got for myself! I went to a local FX Game Exchange store and saw that they already had a used copy of Bulletstorm for the 360 so I asked about it. The owner told me that he had rented it (they do new game rentals) so even though it was only out 3 days, he has to sell it as used. He also said that he kept the online code behind the counter and that it was still unused and valid. I had purchased $40 worth of store credit for $20 using a Groupon, and the used price was $49.99. So - here's how it went down:
Bulletstorm (360) - essentially new with all codes unredeemed $49.99
- store credit of $40 for $20
- 10% discount (like GS Rewards) on used games
Final cost was around $30
Not bad and I'm actually enjoying the game so far!

True. Here are the differences:
1. I got it on Thursday, and yes, prices will drop over time.
2. I got the Epic Edition, this is the standard release.
3. I got the Gears of War 3 Beta included -this one doesn't have it.
4. I got the exclusive online content - 6 extra maps, weapons, and more. This one doesn't have it.
5. And finally, I still got it $10 cheaper!

Not only that but the code you have gives you early access to the beta. For preordering Gears of War 3 the code I got won't allow me to participate in the beta until a week after you. But I don't mind because the beta is going to run a full month or so.

How incredibly clever of you:) Actually I've been doing stuff like that on ebay for years. It's usually when someone is selling a lot of games or demos that I only want one or two of instead of the whole 10-50 items. So I've make them an offer for the ones I want(usually the rare ones) and make off with that while leaving the rest for whoever else wants it.

The one I found today had batteries too, at least I knew it was working before I bought it. If I couldn't test it I would have passed as it was missing the battery cover and I already have one.
I found another one last week Wednesday with batteries and battery cover(working fine). At the same time there was a Speak and Spell with battery cover but it was dead(lucky I had batteries to test it), I got it for free as I showed them it wasn't working. It doesn't turn on and there doesn't seem to be a problem with the battery connections inside so I can't fix it. I found a working Speak and Spell in early January so it's ok, I still need a Speak and Read though.
I used to pass on these all the time before I knew about the circuit bending, they seem to turn up every few months where I am. :)

Yes, I do intend to sell that copy of Alice. The copies on Amazon aren't minty complete, the only "new" one is a sealed CD which might not even be a true seal. The $500 used one has a beat up box. And besides... I'm fairly sure none of those people ships overseas...

It will be interesting to see how high that Alice goes. The last minty complete one I saw sell was in 2007 and that went for around $375. I'm curious as to whether that $2K figure was legit as I had never heard that before that person posted it to Mobygames and it seems like a price like that would have made some news. It has been a long while since one has shown up, complete or not, so that should fuel the bidding.

Well, I trust Sciere enough to believe he's telling the truth. We shall see. I'm still kinda concerned over shipping this overseas... considering how weak the Dollar is right now, it might not be an issue, other than having to write down the actual value on the package and facing a neg for doing so. :|

Both new, Sony's retail loyalty program. Using up the last of my Best Buy verification. Thought I'd mentioned that, sorry.
Still a good deal. I've been waiting for Heavy Rain to reach a decent price for me to pick up.

Finishing up my quest to get my systems fully working and setup. So first I got...
http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu277/camarotuner13/2011-03-08_23-03-23_844.jpg
new 72 pin connector and the tools to open the security thingies on the old games. About 12 bucks shipped via ebay. Never did a 72 pin swap before, that was easy. While I was at it removed the tabs from my snes and n64 to allow me to play imports.

I cannot find official 6 button genesis controllers locally for some reason. Got this pair for 5 bucks and am really happy about it. Not pictured is the needed Genesis model 1 A/V cable. Once my a/v switch box shows up from China I'll be all set. Woot.

GODDAMNIT FORUM WORK ALREADY.If someone's buying a collectible video game that expensive they probably know how customs works. I would send it with signature confirmation through whatever service and insure through either shipsurance or u-pic. All you need to collect on the insurance is to get a signed note from the buyer that it didn't arrive instead of dealing with the USPS. and i would lie about it on customs to prevent tampering stealing etc, the insurance has no way of telling how much you marked it for on customs and the customs have no way of telling how much its worth or if its a gift or not.

All I found today were controllers. An Atari 5200 controller for $1.99, a Dreamcast controller with a VMU and a third-party memory card for $2.98, and a boxed PC Engine joystick. Wait, what?
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/StevePW/controllers.jpg
A little backstory. There's a place in Arlington, TX called Electronic Discount Sales that's been around for at least 20 years that I occasionally stop at. In the mid-'90s, they had a bunch of these PC Engine joysticks. I didn't pick one up at the time since I didn't know if they were compatible with the US TurboGrafx-16 or not. Once I decided to buy one, the store was wiped out of them. I stop by today almost fifteen years later, and they've got one solitary box on the shelf amongst various PC joysticks. It clearly states that it's for the NEC PC Engine, even stating the type of plug it uses and the button configuration on the box.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/StevePW/closeupofpcenginecontroller.jpg
I'm halfway home from the store, and sitting at a stoplight it occurs to me to look inside the box. This is what I found.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/StevePW/outofthebox.jpg
The box says it's a digital controller for the PC Engine, instead there's an analog controller for a PC with a gameport connector. It looks like the same design, but it's for a totally different machine. Dammit. It might even come in useful if I were a retro PC gamer, but I'm a Mac person, so this f---ing thing is totally worthless to me. There's no returns at that store, even if I wanted to go back in that dump anyway.

Musya(complete) $12- This has been in a local gamestore for years. His prices are high and his inventory never changes. I have been curious about it for along time, and just decided to try it out.
Knights In The Nightmare $13- I was surprised to find this that cheap at GS so I couldn't resist.
The GB games were $1.95 each at GoodWill and the guide was $1. When I walked in to GoodWill yesterday a lady had a boxed copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 in her arms..I hate when that happens

Hope this works!
I bought two random CDs for $1 each today. That's it. One is a random purchase (Michael Zanabili - Aphrodite) and the other is an 80's "metal" compilation called "Eighties' Metal Mania" (which has The Final Countdown... and a KISS song, so I don't think that's Metal, sorry.)
The stupid thing today was a seller that had two boxfuls of CDs. I was salivating when I saw them, asked how much each... and she said $5 a pop. FIVE. DOLLARS. A. CD. I turned around and left, she kinda got angry at me for doing so. Really? FIVE BUCKS? Jesus, one buck is excellent, two's kinda high but I'll pay it, but FIVE? FUCK!

A while back (few months) the last local play and trade went away. Found out it was replaced by a "game trader". OK I'll bite, drive out there.
8 bucks for madden 94 for genesis. Yes *ALL* of the pricing was like this. Even the modern stuff was higher than the gamestop pricing in the same mall. Wow.

And then there's that thing. It's a brand new AudioTrix 3D XG ISA sound card (made by a company called Mediatrix) that has all those features. That cost me $7 (down from $10 yesterday) and I'm not sure what to do with it. I could sell it, but it's too big and people might whine about postage costs. I could use it, but ... I don't have a retro PC to stick it into.
Yet...
Oh yeah, I went back to that booth I mentioned yesterday with the $5 CDs. I spoke to the owner, and she said she'd give me a discount if I bought several CDs. So I dived into the boxes and found tons of early Genesis (the band, not the system) CDs, from back when Peter Gabriel was still a member, and a truckload of movie scores. The entire Back to the Future trilogy (1 and 2 had disc rot though), Die Hard 2 and Vengeance, The Rock, Planet of the Apes (by Danny Elfman)... Aliens... I ended up choosing both Die Hards, The Rock (I like Harry Gregson-Williams) and Aliens.
The seller told me the price: $17 for all four.
I left, pissed off and disgusted. I'm pretty sure she didn't even sell a single CD yesterday, and I'm sure those CDs will be thrown out when she leaves on Monday. What a waste.

First electronics flea market of the year. Fairly small vendor turnout, fuel prices I would suspect. Anyway, I only made one purchase, it was also from the first vendor I came up to. Among his electronics parts he had a beat up SNES on a table, a beat up FC Twin next to it and then two boxes under the table with game stuff in them. One box had a few SNES cartridges and the other had an NES system with the controllers wrapped around it, a zapper, AC adapter and a dozen or so games. I made sure all the NES games were in the same box as the system and went to removing the other miscellaneous crap over to the other box. Checking inside the system I saw there was a copy of Castlevania in there, so I had a good feeling the system would work. I can't recall exactly what SNES games were in the other box but there was a copy of Turtles in Time that I tossed into the NES box and asked a price. He wanted $30, I countered with $20 and then $25, which was accepted.
Nothing super incredible but there were a couple games in there I didn't have and my NES is on its last leg after years of keeping it going. (It was a crappy replacement for the NES I had since I was a kid which finally croaked about four years ago) Everything is in really nice shape and the NES itself works perfectly.

SNES - Turtles in Time
NES - Battletoads
NES - California Games
NES - Castlevania
NES - Duck Hunt
NES - Marble Madness
NES - Othello
NES - Pac-Man (licensed)
NES - Punch-Out!!
NES - Rampage
NES - The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants
NES - Skate or Die
NES - Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt
NES - Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt / World Class Track Meet
NES - Track and Field II
I know a few people who were looking for most of the other games so that's where they will go. Now that I have a solid replacement, I'm going to trade my flaky NES to a game reseller I know in exchange for some purchase credit.
Also I took some time this afternoon to do a test print of the bezel for my mini MAME cabinet. I plan on eventually having it professionally printed on a single sheet but this will do for now. I think it came out REALLY good considering the only file to start from is a horribly damaged and inconsistently colored bezel scan. I had to do a lot of repairs and color matching in addition to the resizing for the different bezel dimensions.

I had a few decent finds this past week; nothing really big, but still a few I felt where good.
- Nintendo 64 w\ 2 controllers (Loose in good shape): $7
- InterAct Superpad 64 Plus controller (N64. Loose in very good shape): Free :)
- Iggy's Wrecking Balls (N64. Loose in good shape): $6
- Revelations: The Demon Slayer (GBC. Loose in very good shape): $5
The N64 was found at a garage sale I randomly stumbled onto Saturday morning; the system it's self was a little dirty, but the controllers where pretty beat up (One of them being a yellow controller; which I haven't seen any in person since I first got my N64, way back in 1997). That controller was the main reason I went for it; the rest was traded off, while I get ready to buy up a replacement joystick assembly.
Everything else I got was over at Game-X-Change. The controller rang up up properly, but the register didn't properly deduct money from the credit I had, resulting in a free controller. Like every Superpad 64 Plus I've run into, it has some issues; this one doesn't seem to like Controller Paks, combined with a Start button that doesn't always want to work. Considering how much I love this style of controller, the issues with the Start button are quite annoying (It makes Ocarina of Time a nightmare); which is making me consider finally making the switch to a Hori.
Also, Revelations was a random buy; I heard it's one of the Shin Megami Tensei games, which combined with the cheap price made me decide to buy it. Here's hoping it's more enjoyable than Final Fantasy Legend; I could never get into that one

Yeah, there's quite a few things to take in here.
Firstly, the Stylophone Beatbox was found at a random booth for only $5! It's a really recent (came out in 2009!) sequel of sorts to Dubreq's original Stylophone instrument. Except this one does hip hop stuff. It's practically new! For the curious you can here it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUGToqR8yL8&feature=related) (along with a normal stylophone and some balloon popping)
Super Monkey Ball Adventure and Mario Sunshine were $2 a piece at a booth, there's actually a Harvest Moon game in the SMS case. At the same booth I dug that white device out of a box of electronics and it was $1. I recognized the XFi name on it (and thought at $1 it was well worth the chance) and it turns out it's a little USB sound card. Neat!
Castlequest was $3, a new addition to my NES library.
The yellow keyboard is a VTech Music Major (http://www.miniorgan.com/lib/view.php?miniorgan=26&srch=&srch_type=&sortby=&output=105), which is a very hard to find 80s toy keyboard. It has this really cool computerized voice singing thing that's neat. It's also a popular circuit bending device. It was $15 from an electronics dealer. I know that sounds like a lot for an old toy keyboard but this particular one will go for twice that easily on eBay, and honestly I've been wanting one forever.
Yes, that's a copy of Switched on Bach on 8-track, only $0.25. Take that Kitsune Sniper!
Finally the coolest thing in the picture. That keytar is a Yamaha SHS-10. It was made in 1987 and is really one of the raddest keyboards that Yamaha ever produced. While it is very cool it is not the greatest sounding keyboard. Out of all the keytars made by different companies it is probably the worst of the bunch, of course that's comparing it to Moog and Roland products... It was sitting in the corner of one booth. The booth owner originally refused to sell it because he hadn't tested it but I told him I would give him $20 sight unseen, because I happen to know something (http://cgi.ebay.com/Yamaha-SHS-10-SHS10-Keytar-MIDI-FM-Digital-Synthesizer-/130491966428?pt=Keyboards_MIDI&hash=item1e61ed63dc) about synthesizers. Ironically enough I put batteries in it a few minutes ago and it doesn't work. I'll have to try it with AC and if that fails I coincidentally know someone who repairs vintage synthesizers.
Sorry about the big wall o' text guys. I'm very happy with the stuff I found today.
