The only 8-Track tapes I can find usually contain country music. So give 'em to Ryaan. :P
No thanks... All the 8 tracks I ever see are country and religious music. Bleh.
Switched on Bach was an anomaly.
Errr anyways the keytar works with an adapter but not with batteries... Hrm.

If there's no corrosion on the terminals then you probably simply have a broken connection at the terminals, between the terminals and the board, or at the board. Simple thing to troubleshoot.

You'd be surprised how many people find something as trivial as replacing the battery in a Sega Saturn or removing the cartridge tabs in a Super Nintendo a task that requires hand holding. When you ended your previous post with "Hrm." I had assumed it meant you were puzzled on where to go from there.
Perhaps I should post instructions on how one may dismount from their high horse.

So anyway, back on topic.
I picked up a cart-only copy of Super Dodge Ball for the NES for two bucks. The game's in pretty decent shape, but it has the former owner's name and phone number written on the back... with nail polish.
Acetone / nail polish remover can take care of that, right? Will it damage the cart shell?
understatement

Acetone will melt the plastic but, there is non-acetone nail polish remover if everything else fails that’s what I would try.

It will ruin the finish on the plastic. Just find a $1 cart with a good back and swap them out. @skaar, I like Chef Boyardee pizza sauce and I'm not aiming for authentic when I'm making a $3 pizza at home :).

I didn't want to say anything about your pizza, but since you have Kroger's cheese there, try getting their pizza sauce. Chef Boyardee just keeps getting worse and worse every year.
I didn't know Betty Crocker made instant pizza dough, so guess I have to give it a try now.

The GB games I mentioned previously, but they were still out so I stuck them in this picture.
PC games were from a Savers a couple days ago, all for just short of $10 along with the mint KISS pinball. Alone in the Dark doesn't have any adverts, but I think it has everything else, KQIV is just the disks, and AmonRa might be complete.
Got the NES stuff today (there is an AC adapter in there too) with the popcorn popper for ~$15.50 at Unique. Also today I found those football games from a different Savers for $2.13. I'd just been thinking how it has been a long time since I've come across one of these!

Poor day going to resale shops today. I have one more shop in the area to hit. Anyway, I was still somewhat happy with my find:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/DrDib/photo-4.jpg
Super Scope - $3.
Now I should mention that this is only the Super Scope and the scope attachment in the box and it is pretty dirty and has some battery corrosion. It did not have the instructions, game, or sensor. I'll probably be checking a game shop to see if they have a sensor for sale. Still, for $3 I'd say I didn't do too bad.
I'll be putting up a topic in the tech & restoration subforum if anyone wants to help me. Assuming I can't find the information by searching.

If that includes the box and the foam in good shape, then $3 isn't so bad. You can probably get a replacement scope and sensor for that amount. :)

Smurfette, just be aware that some of those games can't be resold: Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Half-Life 2 and Sin Episodes all require Steam, and if they were installed, then that means their keys were activated and the retail packages are now useless. :(
Everything else should still be OK to resell. Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines sells for quite a bit on eBay. If you're interested in selling or trading some of those here, I might want First To Fight / Starship Troopers and Pariah... :)

I found a really old, obscure operating system still brand new. From what I could find, it's some version of DEC P/OS. There was another copy that someone opened(I passed on that) but from what I could see in the books was that it's from around 1984.
It belongs to this set of computers;
http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=115&st=1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEC_Professional_(computer)
Is it worth anything? I mostly bought it so it wouldn't get destroyed like the other copy. Kitsune Sniper, do you have any idea on this? You seem to pick up operating systems and computer software regularly so maybe you'd know.

If nobody else replies here I'll PM phreakindee and ask directly(thanks for mentioning him!). I wasn't sure if it was worth anything so I left the other one, the other one also had the binder opened with the pages scattered. I did put the pages back as best I could, but I didn't feel I needed to grab it until I did further research(which is much harder than I thought). There were several 5 1/4" floppies in the binder too, it looked like someone just ripped it open to see what was in it shortly before I got there.
The packaging doesn't say much, it says Digital's Personal Computers on the front and Professional 300 series: Hard Disk System on the side. The back just has some basic Software License Agreement written out, I can't see anything else without opening it(or looking through the open one I passed on). I'm just assuming which operating system it is based on what I could find out, it seems there were a couple compatible ones for that series of computers.
Oh, and I found other stuff too but I don't want to jinx it before testing it out. It was a good day. :)

I found two copies of Windows XP Professional (one retail, one upgrade with SP2) for $15 each.
I also purchased a three pack of Jaz 2GB discs for $3, and a random CD with a Squirrel Nut Zippers song for $1.
Of note:
Two sets of High School Musical Sing It! 1 and 3, brand new with microphones, for $3 each. Passed on 'em. Even I have my limits. (Actually they were kinda bulky.)
Three big boxes of nothing but ska and similar music. I drooled. I picked everything out. And then I checked the discs... everything was horribly scratched. :( Good thing though, I had like 20 CDs picked out. :P
This one came in the mail and gave me a surprise :bday:

Yeah, this was sticking out of a box of VHSes and old self help cassette boxsets like a sore thumb at the backlot sale. I saw the ESRB rating and stuck it in my basket. I later gave it a look over and realized it was a PC game with a very strange proprietary controller. The box is GINORMOUS so I thought there must be something special.
It's called "The Journey to Wild Divine: The Passage". As far as I can tell it's just a fancy meditation tool disguised as a PC game. It plays in a style of Myst with FMV, and you progress by doing things like dropping your heartbeat by thinking and deep breathing. I'm not kidding. It comes with this sensor thing you attach to your fingers O_O. You can view some of the craziness here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWFOBbm3HQI). It actually brings a nice sum (http://cgi.ebay.com/Journey-Wild-Divine-Biofeedback-Set-/120693037328?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item1c19dd9910) on eBay, but before selling it I need to test it... to ensure it works (or at least works how it's supposed to) >_> I've seen enough ab-shocker belts and "mega memory" cassettes to know how this sort of stuff works but I guess you never know.

I didn't find a lot of stuff today... just a copy of Punch! Home Design Suite Platinum 12 for $1 (complete in box), an iMac software disc set, and a TV tuner.
The iMac set has a Software Install CD (MacOS Version 9.2, CD Version 1.0), a set of four "Software Restore" CDs (Mac OS Versions 9.2, 10.0.4), an Applications CD (Version 1.3), a Software Restore CD (for iMac DV models, SSW version 9.0.4) and a hardware test CD (SW version 1.1). All of that was $1, and I figure someone can use it. I plan to list it on eBay and don't think I'll get more than ten bucks for it, but what the hay.
The TV tuner is an SIIG AVTuner-PVR USB doohickey from 2005. It came complete in box, with CDs, cables, a remote - but the box was stained with soda, I think, so I tossed the outer slipcover. It looks fine, but it requires two USB connections (one data, one power) so I can't really try out yet. I'm hoping this thing will work with a driver and that it doesn't need the included InterVideo software to run... hopefully it'll be able to "see" my Genesis' video output. :)

Toshiba 14AF43 flat CRT, 14" - $20 at my church's thrift.
I've had my Samsung GX for a while now, but the picture has been getting fuzzy, and the fold-out speakers take up a ton of room on my desk. I've been telling myself it was good enough, but then I saw this beauty. It has S-Video, Component, front inputs with headphone jack, and video out. A quick Google on my android and I see that I can access the service menu with a simple remote command. Couldn't test it in the store though, because there was no included remote to access the inputs on, and channel down from 2 goes to 99. Got it home and the picture is crooked, but a friendly member on a TV repair forum walked me through that (holy static electricity, Batman!). Now, it looks nice. Very sharp, excellent color. And it fits great on my desk.
It's still got some slight parabola issues, but readjusting the yoke again fixed it to where it's fine with proper overscan.

Aside from that, I found a loose Rock Me Amadeus 12" 45 rpm for a quarter. Saw Cause & Effect's "Another Minute" in the CD rack, then got disappointed when I saw it was some kids music sampler inside.

Don't have a pic but I happened upon a Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom Arcade stick at Micro Center for $40 today. I was trying to get one from Best Buy when they were closing them out but they sold out of them. I'm still a little beside myself for having bought a Mad Catz item on purpose. :ass:
I saw that the new Ar Tonelico game came out. I'll need to go pick that up.

really have had my buying focused on cheesy movies lately as I really haven't seen anything worth picking up locally lately but did manage to see a couple decent grabs last night.
Conker (xbox, complete) - just under $5 after 30% discount for st. patty's special
Star Ocean (ps1, complete) - just under $3.50 after 30% off

Got the games that I didn't want to jinx untill they arrived. It's not the biggest deal ever, but I was able to get Tech Romancer and Project Justice for Dreamcast at $40 shipped.
Always wanted to try these games out :D

Not much today, just a copy of The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes (CD in case only) and Who Shot Johnny Rock (CD in case only) for $1 each. I picked up the former because I already have the game, complete, but in 3.5" floppy form, and it's a pain in the butt to play that. The latter? Eh. :p
I also picked up a cheapo universal remote to see if I can get it to work with my DVD/VCR combo set. The universal remote I had for that one died recently, and it looks like the RCA one I use for my TV doesn't work with it. :(

Oh yeah, I picked a couple of these up recently. Well worth the wait, as usual.

I had I really good day today. I didn't find anything rare but I actually found something. I've been striking out for so long it was refreshing to just find some old stuff for decent prices. My dad and I took a trip about two hours north of where we live, perfect day for it too, first really nice day of the year.

Re-play Games:
Buy 1 get 1 half off
Rock N Roll Racing- $15
Tetris Battle Gaiden- $7.50
I can't pass up imports especially for SFC so I bit the bullett. In my mind I payed $15 for Tetris and $7.50 for Rock N Roll.
Cast Converters:
NFL Quarterback Club- $1
Thomas The Tank Engine- $3
Hole In One Golf- $1
Bill Elliotts NASCAR Challenge- $2
Lunar Pool- $2

Both Izuna's are mint. I've been looking for Gadget Racers for awhile, hopefully its as good as Road Trip Shifting Gears.
Again, nothing spectacular, but it was nice to actually find some old games for once.

I just recently finished Crisis Core and enjoyed it quite a lot. I never read any reviews or anything, so I don't know that the official critical response to it was, but I thought it was fun.
p.s. I'm a sucker for materia, so that might have been it.

Just one thing today:
A scale.
It's a Royal Shipping Scale. It's pretty old but some guy had several boxes of the things and was going to sell them for $15 each, but I managed to talk him down to $10. The thing is still sealed, but the one he tested worked perfectly well.
Now I just need a printer...
