I hate when people do that. Luckily I've got the local thrift stores to stop doing it whenever they get games in. Still, why would you mark on the label. :(
Here's an update for my CDX find.
http://i56.tinypic.com/2wd0kra.jpg (http://i54.tinypic.com/jt0xeb.jpg)
$20 for everything pictured (besides the Train Simulator which was $2). Systems works great, just finished playing it. My uncle (who bought it) was told that the seller bought it new in 1994 for his kids (from what I was told, he had money so I'm assuming he bought his kids the latest toys). When his kids finished playing it, he put it under the bed in a plastic container and pulled it out the other week. I don't know if he sold the other stuff he had, didn't put it out for sale, or even still had it. So yea, apparently I'm only the second person to own this thing. That's pretty cool.
- CDX
- User manual
- Not for Resale Sonic CD, Ecco Dolphin/Sega Classics combo
- Two controllers
- The holy power supply
- A 3rd party RF switch (not a big deal)
- NBA Jam w/ strategy guide
- SNES instructions poster
- PlayStation 1 docs
- Zelda/Super Mario World/Soccer Game SNES books
- The issue of Gamepro and two Consumer Guide strategy guides for the NES
Can't bitch about that. If someone is interested in the SNES instructions or Consumer Guide magazines let me know. I think I'm going to keep that Gamepro because it's so damn awesome.
Not going to photograph it but I also picked up a lot of Atari stuff for $15. It was very muddy and some of the games are damaged but from what I can tell, I picked up a 2600 (seller told me it worked) and two 7800's. One is partially disassembled and I'm not sure if it will work. The other one I have hope for. Can't tell what most of the games are (missing labels) but a copy of Mario Paint was in the bottom. Went ahead and got it because I can screw with the 7800's and I know I can get $10 for the 2600 and at least $2 for Mario Paint (in bad condition). Also picked up Mario Party 2 for $5. Has a faded label but I can easily double my money.
For the non-gaming people, also picked up four turntables for $2 each. One Technics, one Hitachi, one Fisher, and one Sansui. Still have to get them out of the car but I should be able to get at least $100 out of those.
Then there was this "quarter an item" box I offered $5 for:
http://i52.tinypic.com/nassi.jpg (http://i56.tinypic.com/24fd11c.jpg)
Dreamcast is labeled "not working" but I do have an extra laser if that's the problem. Two wireless routers, one wired router, a cable modem, two cameras, the Arcade Defender (holy shit I did not realize these were valuable until just now), the old TI calculators, and some other random things. The SR-56 (the one on the right) is apparently the valuable one of the lot. Also picked up another one (think it was a Business Analyst too) for $2 but it's still in the car. All of that and the turntables I bought came out of some guys basement and he was happy to get rid of it.
I think that's everything. Missed out on a keyboard synth for $65 because it looked like a toy; they go for several hundred online. I see the seller there a lot so I'm going back next week and hoping that he still has it. Really upset about that one but that's life.

I found a brand new copy of Weird Al Yankovic's Straight Outta Lynwood. The DualDisc version with the movies on the other side of the disc, too! That cost me $2.
I also found a big bunch of Pokemon cards but the seller wanted $5, so eff that.

God I hate DualDiscs. Maybe my stuff is older but they never rip well for me. I would just prefer a two disc set.

Cost me 45 shipped. The back half of this thing is yellowed and a small piece is missing. BUT half of what they cost on ebay and frankly, i'll either replace the missing piece with ABS and paint it or just ignore it since you can't tell it's damaged/discolored from the front. Works perfectly and came with a dogbone and the cables. Thank you sir :)

Nice find on the TI! Probably not too valuable, but I dunno for sure. At any rate, rare and cool!
And to FamicomFreak--Who did you rob to get 3 Game & Watches at the same time?

Thanks. That TI has a power supply. No video cable.
On another note, good and bad news. The Genesis works (reset button needs fixing). Except a TMSS model so my search there continues... I might press luck by trying to ask Euro sellers. Long shot that'd kill two birds at once, I've been meaning to get the right Megadrive. I'm rather jealous of the widespread praise MD gets compared to Genesis. With it being released in vastly more countries.

No, those are two different units. They're too thick to just be halves, and the backs are actually plain instead of having that metal faceplate. That's the same side being shown for both units, the backs have a serial number and the battery cover.

Those Bust A Move games aren't bad either. CDX treated with the respect it deserves is a masterpiece.
If one of those GBA SPs is backlit, that newer version has even more superior clarity than people give credit. Just try Metroid Zero Mission in both types.

Yesterday:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2011-10-11.jpg
108 CD binder - $5
Yma Sumac - Voice of the Xtabay - $1
Tutti's Trumpets and Trombones - $1
Today:

Freddie Fox - Feelin' It (new)
Alfred Apaka - The Best of Alfred Apaka Volume 2
Alfred Apaka - Hawaiian Favorites
Starcraft
Warcraft III
All $1 each
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2011-10-12b.jpg
Microsoft Publisher 2002 - $2
Various Artists - Llegó el recreo (Recess: The Movie soundtrack, new, MEXICAN EDITION) - $1
Bobby McFerrin - The Best of Bobby McFerrin, The Blue Note Years - $1
Office 2000 Professional Upgrade - $1
That Recess album was a pretty surprising find. Not only was it new, it's an authentic, licensed, official, not bootlegged Mexican release. Hologram and all. It had a sticker over the UPC code so it would have 12 numbers instead of the normal 13 numbers our barcodes have. Anyway, I found it with a bunch of other random Spanish language CDs. One of them was sold at Ritmo Latino stores (a brick and mortar music store that specialized in Spanish language music) since it had their store logo in the cover art, so they probably came from one of those stores. The chain seems to have gone bankrupt in the past two years - we had a store in my American hometown but it shut down about two years back.
Weird find.
Edit: Holy shit, if it wasn't for the Robert Goulet song and the Recess Suite theme, this album could easily be enjoyed by anyone on an LSD trip. It's totally hippietastic. @_@

Luxor: Wrath of Set (PSP)

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (PSP)
All of them are complete and all are currently 50% off regular prices - so the total was about $22 for them all.

I was out of town visiting some family friends, and decided to stop in at a local toy shop that also sells some video games. To my surprise, I found an import game among their selections, the first Taiko no Tatsujin DS game for $19.99! The case, manual, and inserts are a bit dirty, and it's missing the drumstick styli, but for the price I paid I'm happy with it.
I also finally got around to picking up the first volumes of Sailor Moon and Codename Sailor V.

A couple things in today.
First up an arcade board I've been trying to get for awhile, DJ Boy. Included the PCB, an uncut marquee and the manual. Ran less than $30 shipped.
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2011-10-12%2801%29.jpg
What's funny is it comes at a time when I'm thinking about selling off my arcade cabinets and getting out of coin-op ownership. Bad as it sounds, I really do play my little MAME cabinet more than anything and I would love to clear out some space here so I could bring it back home. I'm still easily in the world record bracket for Klax and I stay there even when only playing every couple months. The machine is really just taking up space and when the monitor finally does crap out it's going to be a PITA to get up into it in that cabinet. The Galaxian cocktail rarely gets turned on anymore since I really don't have the time to grind away at it. I don't know, maybe my priorities are just changing.
Aside from that, Pop'n Music 6 for the PS1, complete for $10.

It was a kiosk cart. Should have a return to Nintendo label on the back.
Not common, semi desirable, and the demos normally are just timed portions of the game.
Not much else to say.

Doom Longbox (no manual unfortunately) was $7, 102 Dalmations $2, Hot! New! NFL Blitz 2000 $1 and Test Drive V-Rally $2. Nothing that exciting, of course, but the three Dreamcast games are relevant in which that with their purchase I now own 100 DC games. I think that's around 1/3 of the complete US set when counting original releases and all assorted variants?
Speaking of DC also passed up a yellowing DC system with 2 controllers and 2 vmus, no hookups at Goodwill priced at $34.99. Didn't even have a cd in the system either to soften the blow. :p

Nope, it was a damn Technics (I didn't even know they made keyboards). It looked like one of those Casio starter pianos even though it had a screen on. You know, had it been like $10-20 I would have grabbed it but $65 is a hefty price for something that may not be worth jack. Now I did pick up a Yamaha PSS-270 a few months ago that looks like a toy but they go for $75+ (reminds me that I still have to sell mine). That was a measly $5. I'm usually good at picking out music equipment but now I know Technics made keyboards and they're all valuable. On the plus side, the Technics turntable I picked up is worth ~$100. Probably going to keep it though.

Oh, okay. I left a freaking Technics keyboard like that at my local flea market a few weeks ago for the same reason! I know in the 80s Technics did some good analog models but I didn't know that the newer ones with the screens were worth anything.
(Also, I said Yamaha SH-101... I meant to say Yamaha SHS-10, the keytar model that looks like a kids' toy. The SH-101 is a Roland analog synthesizer worth $600+... That's what happens when I post after 1 AM.)

Oh yeah that's correct. It was way too pricey and practically not worth picking up as the Saturn was already on the shelves. That's like buying a Cube when the Wii came out...totally no point to it!

Went out today to a couple of places. Thrift store I had never been in before; lady tells me they sold all their video game stuff last week during the town's annual festival. I just didn't have time to visit that store until today.
So, I ended up spending right at $30 for all of this:
- 64oz Gatorade G2 - $2 (decent deal)
- N64 controller - $2
- ATI Radeon 4350 boxed - $10 (half price of similar ones on eBay and I need a temp. card right now)
- Gallop Racer PS1 - $5
- Chrono Cross PS1 - $5
- Dreamcast Topmax Arcade joystick - $2
- Pelican Tournament Ready universal arcade stick - $3 (it's like http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-Accessories-Universal-Arcade-Tournament-Xbox/dp/B0001XFLV4 that except it's thicker like a traditional one) Anyone know the value on this?

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/654/photoliv.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/photoliv.jpg/)
Black GameCube (no cords) - $6.96
Platinum GameCube (no cords) $8.98
Both were marked as untested, but they work flawlessly, and the silver one even supports the Component cable.
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/1689/photo2wk.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/818/photo2wk.jpg/)
Teal GBC - $4.94
Clue - $1.91
Yoshi's Safari - $3.93
The GBC's buttons were pretty much non responsive and the the whole thing was covered in wax. even the inside was coated in a mix of wax, hair and all around nasty. a through cleaning later everything works, and it is currently waiting on the broken GBASP i have to get the frontlit mod.
And finally the one find that i couldn't believe I found. As i pulled up to one the the regular pawn shops I visit this is what i found as i was parking...

Yup, a copy of MW2, just camping away in a bush, and even had the game inside. Not quite sure how it ended up there, but i wasn't gonna just leave it there

Ah, wow! The one I got isn't in quite that good of condition. Mine has some shelf wear. But hey, I won't complain. I was just worried about ripping my friend off if it was worth that much more than I paid.

This is true, but if he is ignorant of it's value, why can't I take advantage of that? I mean, if he is a businessman, and this is his business, he should be well informed or at least do his research of all the items he deals.

Exactly. It's like the local pawn shop that sells common Mario games for $15 but I walked out with several near mint Dreamcast games for $2 each a few months ago. Game revenue is very low at most shops so they don't care anyway because they'll make that money back on a loan or selling an expensive item they paid 20% of retail for. Hell, the pawn shop right down the road from my house won't take anything older than Xbox/PS2/Gamecube.

Hit up a couple places this morning. The first was a church flea market. They had a couple games, but nothing that I was interested in. I did, however, pick up a new Axle GeForce 6200a 256mb video card for $1. Not a super card, but it was new and only $1. I then hit up my local Goodwill. They actually had a number of NES carts in the display case. I think that there were 8 or 9 of them. Nothing really hard to find, but the prices were outrageous. The only one that I could see was for Ivan Stewart's Super Off-Road and they wanted $15 for that. I could only imagine what they wanted for the gold Zelda game.

I don't know if this is exactly a find.
A sealed Power Piggs for $6 and shipping on amazon.
Just curious if it's original or if it is indeed a resealed used copy as it was listed.
I probably will just open it later anyways, since I imagine the game's practically worthless.
I do see some sticker residue on the front, though.

King of the Ring is actually a bit hard to find, it's listed here as an R5. It's not really worth all that much though, just around $10. Nice finds though, especially with Conker's Bad Fur Day.

I'm actually surprised at the value of conker's. I knew it was a "good" game to grab as it had a big following and I've always kept an eye out for one. But I didn't realize it was going for so much money compared to, well, nearly every other N64 title people go after. Also didn't realize king of the ring wasn't the dirt common I thought it was. So overall much more happy with my finds once I got home than I was when I bought them and I was pretty happy then. :)

Today, I picked up a minty non-TMSS High Definition Graphics Genesis for $14.99 at a local shop.
This baby looked like it came straight out of the box with nary a scrape or scratch. The power button has a nice solid click when you power it on and the volume slider is nice and firm (no button wiggle).

Had a few interesting finds yesterday. I'll start with the strangest...
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/Finds/finds258a.jpg
Nothing odd about these, but that they showed up in my mailbox out of the blue. Turns out they are someone else's rejected Amazon trade-in. They have cracks on the spindle edges and Kart was the 'wrong version'. I figure I'll email Amazon after I post to see what they say.

MGS 2 is sealed. I actually went back for this having passed the first time since the game itself isn't really worth anything. Turns out sealed it is worth a bit. I paid $10.37. The Famicom game I know nothing about. It is the first Famicom game I've come across in the wild that I recall. Anyone know what game it is? It and RE2 were $4.74 together.
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/Finds/finds258c.jpg
Picked all this up on the stop where I passed on MGS. Random PC game looks pretty terrible and is sealed and on floppy, so I'll probably never know. Didn't have Primal Rage. I seriously doubt the PS2 works, but that doesn't seem to matter for selling these days. And a couple air poppers that work for coffee roasting. Total was $21.51. It was 25% off VIP day on all this and the above.

Tunnels of Armageddon is a decent PC game. Ever played the old arcade game Tunnel Hunt? It's kind of the same thing graphically.
